September 30: Redesigned Website Launch
Hello Everyone! It's been a long time coming! Our new site is finally here!
Please take your time and explore the site!
You can file feedback & bug reports here!
Additionally, later today @krinkthemellowunicorn will be giving a guided tour of the new site! Stay tuned for more information!
Really love the new design,the white and bright colors make it more comfy i think. Reminds me of duolingo, a site with a really nice interface as well.
the design is great, i know there are bugs but i can see the improvement over the previous design , however there are two things i would like to see
1-first is that we cant see all reviews in the "my impact page" ,only the top 3 reviews are shown, for listeners who has over 100 reviews, i think it would be a better option to be able to see all reviews and not the only recent 3
2- i miss the way we can hide the chats in the conversation list, now the recent 3 chats that i have done are always showing up there, which isnt a really bad thing but i prefered when we could hide the chats and they would reappear when someone message us
3- i would have prefered a new tone for personal request , this phone type ring is kinda irritating and not to mention very loud,
If 1 is not fixed yet it will be very soon
2 is high on the list
3 - yes my wife said "what was that sound !?" - we'll tone it down
I like that there's no more scary, intrusive and rather intimidating "blah is typing" anymore. How much trouble that made before geez. The instant collapse for more conversations on the page itself is very good. I would've liked to keep the feature to hide conversations from said panel though? Thankfully chat search feature does not appear to have been taken away. Though the popup to "select" seems a bit redundant at this point.
I like the wider input boxes, smaller fonts of chat posts, removal of inline repeats of username, links, etc. Also discovered the gem in "collapse this to reveal hotline information". Forgive me for being blind if it was there before.
Colors, and fonts of rest of site could do with some real help though. Too much white or too much bright. Maybe both. Pages like my impact are just painful. Bolding could probably help this along. Otherwise the colored fonts make reading entirely not a breeze and is the darker color of own posts supposed to discourage re-reading your own posts? Or writing less? Hopefully this is listener-side only.
Sizes of banner or element frames are impossible on larger screen zooms. Otherwise I thought the color changing notification banner thing (at bottom of screen) was an unexpected touch as nice as the chat links outlined above. Also liking that new personal messages come with only notification dropdown and that status can be adjusted next to it, messenger style.
I however, do not get the point of all those "hover to follow" links. Or the count of listener's chats in dashboard/path, etc. Breach of privacy aside, why should this need to matter to anyone? If it's just to see who is active and how active, the list minus the counts is proof enough. Maybe something like an average reply rate if need be. Although, despite how incredibly useful that might be, in reality that there suggestion is an even bigger breach of privacy.
And I do not think that 7c is such a social place or needs to be, for feed following to be second to friending or something to that kind. Someone once said, the whole feature almost defeats the purpose of the site altogether. While I do not entirely agree, I don't see why it's been given the attention it has, accessibility-wise either.
Last notes for the now: Much love as I have for the looks (relatively- Too bright, too light still stands for almost everything) of the notification bar, it does not stand up to window resize behaviour as well as the old. Given that the old did brilliantly though, I have full faith the new will soon follow.
Though I think I actually liked the old colors better. The consistency was good. I get a headache from too much color see and after a while of typing this out, something is thrumming near behind and under my right ear. Two hours of staring at the mostly same colors in PM chat had me oblivious till now. Being a frequenter of forum posting, either this means less of that now (and all those lovely posting games!) and or I grey everything out myself, one way or another.
That said, customisable or color themes would be an idea! All the best and thank you as always for these feedback threads.

@imaginativeDrum
Great feedback, thanks!
We'll keep plugging away. I'll discuss your items with @ezraBC as well.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Thanks for getting the bell back. I am over the moon. Well done and many thanks.
@lazyKatz
Of course! @ezraBC fixed it. The bug was the equivalent of accidentally unplugging a cord.
I am having a lot of trouble using this site with the new updates. I really hate it. I prefer the old design.
The currently participating in the support rooms is still not working. I have asked a number of people and seen myself.
You fixed the bell/notifications thingy! That's amazing! :D thanks a lot.
There are two other things that can be tweaked a bit.
1. The categories on the profile,they're in grey which is a bit hard to read. Can you make it bold? :)
2. In the listener chatrooms,I can see texts from hours ago at the top. And only a few current texts.
I hope you can fix it soon ^.^
*gives you a big hug* you guys are awesome ❤
@chioo we can improve legibility of the categories
for the second one, the chat bug, can you go to the support desk and report the bug so we track it?
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
Alrighty :)
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn I noticed that too, sometimes its even from a few days before, but deleting the cache clears it up so it's probably a cache bug that is easy to fix
@Ace13
thanks, Ace
cc @DevTeam, @ezraBC (re possible cache bug in chat)
I am glad to see that we can again hide users on the chat screen. Now, if the font was a little bigger I could read what's actually written in the sidebar!
@Harry53
Orly? Oh my homana, rly! Thank you too, +1!
I see you've tried to tweak the "request" tab. I really appreciate your effort :)
but it hogs a lot of screen space. I can just read two texts when I'm on mobile.
@chioo
i agree there is a lot of wasted vertical space on my android phone - it might be that it is interpreting the sizes differently.
not sure what you mean by the request bar? do you mean the strip at the bottom? we still need to make those buttons reduce in size when in small layouts...
I was disappointed when the new design rolled out, but the team at 7 Cups has done a great job of getting rid of the kinks. It is still a little hard to read because the writing is faint, but I think that's about it. The site looks really good now, well done.
@Probius
we're still studying legibility - thanks for letting us know we're not there yet, as well as for your patience and understanding!
I was just wondering, why isn't there a way to tell when listeners last logged in? I've wondered since I joined. There's a way to do that for members. It would just be nice when browsing listeners to look and see oh they haven't been on in a few months so I shouldn't leave them a message.
@TabbyPhoenix
cc @laura @twish - just so this suggestion gets heard
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn I think that can be a good idea and may solve some problems that were mentioned with the browse listener page? Maybe there could even be a way to sort listeners by last time they logged in? I'm not sure if that could cause some issues for those who wish not to show up as online though
@Ace13
Yes it will. Does. Not anyone or anything in particular but plain paranoia is a real thing from here. The suggestion is one worth considering though. The dashboard, chats or which page it was with some listener taking [number] chats seems like a good starting point. Have a post somewhere round here about that..
Maybe like feeds and notifications, allow the listener to an optional display of status? Or more obscure. Ie. Show status to "on in the last" 24hours, 2 weeks, month, three years, etc. That covers both fields in problems I think. Anonymity and the need for listenees to know their chats before they have 'em.
Anybody else got stuff to add, comment or dissect like crazy, shoot! :)
@Ace13
noted :)
