Journaling your feelings

User Profile: amiablePeace77

There are times when our minds feel like they are completely out of control, with so many thoughts pulling us in different directions. The effects could be headaches, trouble concentrating, and trouble sleeping. But when we start writing down what we're thinking, something amazing happens: those bad feelings start to let go of us.

Writing helps us clear our minds, think about things, and get things straight. Writing in a journal is a great way to let go of your feelings and see things clearly. Just a few minutes a day can make a big difference in how you feel, how clear you are, and how connected you are.

Participation question:

  • What activities help you to feel relaxed and at peace in stressful situations?
  • If you are already journaling, how do you feel after you express your emotions through writing?

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries, which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

  • What activities help you to feel relaxed and at peace in stressful situations?
  • Meditation and yoga, breathing exercises help me calm down from stressful situations.
  • If you are already journaling, how do you feel after you express your emotions through writing? I journal everyday sometimes twice a day. I feel good when I write down my feelings, problems, siuations needing to be fixed. Writing helps me express myself better with words than speaking

I play games, but recently I started to listen to Buddhist philosophy on YouTube and it has really helped me and given me a lot of focus.

When I remember to or have the mind space to journal, it helps me by untangling my thoughts...or just putting words to my thoughts...or helping me to work through he mental fog and realize what my thoughts are.  It gives me relief.

  • What activities help you to feel relaxed and at peace in stressful situations?

Journaling, music, writing, focusing on other things especially things that are important, shower meditation, in addition to anything else that gets my mind off the stress or gets rid of my stress

  • If you are already journaling, how do you feel after you express your emotions through writing?

Yes I definitely do journal but lately not as often as I know I can and should knowing how beneficial it is for me. But with everything I have going on I just don’t have the time to journal as much as I used to.

After expressing myself or how I feel through any form of writing including but not limited only to journaling, I feel so much better, relived, healed, and free. In other words, more healthy, happy, and peaceful than I was before the writing happened.

So do I. And I’m working as hard as I can to make sure more journaling happens in my life like it used to.

Journalling takes the immediacy out of the feelings.

The intensity

It allows me to self reflect.

Process.

See things from a different perspective .

It gives distance from the feelings 💙🤗

@amiablePeace77 For me I honestly dont know what it is but I normally will pray after midnight every day and somehow it helps to get me through for the rest of the day. As far as journaling there is sometimes that I do it but my thing is I created what I refer to as “Pieces” I would like to think its my own unique style of poetry where I guess youse can call it a play on words example: instead of usin’ the actual word anger I found the word Battery where it has a different meaning and the reader can identify as I try to make things more intense to where reader can maybe see it with a different lens and a dfferent way of understanding what we all go through.

  • What activities help you to feel relaxed and at peace in stressful situations?

I like going outside, traveling, and playing video games with my kids to distract myself. I can watch some tv, but movies don't really work for me anymore.

  • If you are already journaling, how do you feel after you express your emotions through writing?

I like journaling. I used to do it more, and I'd like to get back into it. I got to a point where writing out my feelings got a little overwhelming, because I felt so stuck in the situations I was in I couldn't handle thinking about it too much.

@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas

I find being in nature always helps me too. It's hard to find good movies these days, so I'd rather watch documentaries. It's good that you became aware of the point when you felt stuck. Sometimes we just need to take a break from things, even journaling if we feel it is not helpful at that point.
