Do you ever get disappointed? When you do, you can pause and reflect. This is especially important when you feel disappointed or may have heard some bad news.

  • What helps you or could help you to achieve emotional balance when everything seems to not be going right?

Of course! Outcomes are not necessarily what you wanted or even expected

@Fradiga well I have not expected so much lately and have accepted how things are more. Losing a parent has been difficult, but I am coping okay. It was not a shock that it was going to happen someday. It was a shock when it did happen. But there is life after the loss of a loved one or partner. I am starting to chart a course.

@soulsings

Yes, you indicate something that is very common: You are not prepared for the loss of a loved one, even if that was expected. I often feel that birth and death have the same effect on our souls. You THINK you are prepared and the experience is so personal in the end

@Fradiga I agree and it seems like when we are attached to people we grieve automatically.

To some degree we spend time mapping out a potential future with those we form emotional attachments, I heard it described that a loss is painful because we must reformulate a future without those to whom we were emotionally "attached". Have to build a new mapping from that cognitive perspective.

Perhaps "falling in love" is the reverse of that process, and the brain rewards activities associated with bringing greater social connectivity, that includes precious new bundles of joy.

What helps you or could help you to achieve emotional balance when everything seems to not be going right?

To me when everything seems to not be going right the best thing is to focus just on one thing. It could be just getting as good as possible through the day or even days by following a routine which includes keep eating healthy, meditate, exercise, spend time outside, get enough rest and of course coming here.

@WorkingitThrough2 I hear you. Every failure I have is usually the results of unrealistic expectations.

In my mind the only failure is quitting, stop trying when I am on a path that has been working for me. If it is not working, then I try another.

Well yesterday I realized I was utterly lonely so I just lied down and did my breathing and yoga practice. After that I fell asleep because it was my sleep time also. <3

@soulsings

it depends on the issue for me and how much anxiety and stress the situation caused. Generally I am good. I tend to roll with most things… but when I struggle it can take me a few months to get back on track. There is a need for lots of self care lean on friends and family …. Journalling too can help … I also sought out counselling a few times and it helped a lot.

@soulsings Whenever I feel disappointed, I observe my thoughts and feelings and find out the whys. And let the feelings of disappointment float, get in touch with it without react on it. For example, *so this is how it feels feeling betrayed/ dismissed/ taken for granted, etc*

Reviewing the situation is helpful for sure, finding a quiet place to talk to ourselves in an honest and kind manner, coming to trust our intuition after processing our discomforts.

The reverse is packing it away, not facing our discomforts, denying our reality and leaning on external dependencies to evade and distract from true introspection.

How about yourself soul? What's your method?

@miraculousParadise2759

Having a good and honest self talk with ourselves without trying to "tint" anything but seeing things as they are help to get the bigger picture!

I like to be able to get out of bed and say "woke up this way #no filter" 😹

I like the way you put that "tint", we do try to put filters on when we don't want to acknowledge our reality. Accepting one's reality certainly is healing. Definitely resonating with ourselves and others helps validate, bring them forth, make them manageable and acceptable so we can embrace the truth.
