  • How does your inner critic affect your daily life?
  • What helps you to replace the inner critic with a more friendly voice can help motivate the self more constructively?

There was a time when my inner critic made me not want to do anything and just withdraw from the world. I had to learn to challenge my inner critic and reframe what it said so it became less and less abusive to me with time. During that time, I strengthened the inner coach in me with believable positive affirmations.

@Tinywhisper11 well my point is the inner critic is just a lot of hot air. We don't need to figtht or battle the inner critic. It is like a nightmare we have to wake up from and realize that is not me.

@amiablePeace77 It's amazing how you managed to reduce how abusing your inner critic was to you over time. I'm interested in how you boosted your inner coach. I find I struggle with believable affirmations. If you feel comfortable, would you mind sharing some of yours, or the process you used to craft ones which were more believable at the time? If it's too personal, that's completely okay. Thank you 😊

Something that helps me most when things are rough is to lool back at all what I’ve overcome in life, how often I felt like giving up but still continued and all worked out at the end. Giving up is not really an option, I have only one life so the only option is to make the best out of it. When things feel too hard I tell myself “Moving on!” “Let’s see how it feels tomorrow”. I distract myself during the day and maybe at night give it a good cry or do so e sort of self care. The challenges I had in my life left me with the feeling “I will get through no matter how hard it becomes”. I have not dealt with so much pain just to give up at the end, I want to keep enjoying life 😁

@alysianna sometimes we created an inner critic in our head and we give it the face of our most passionate critic in real life. Do not believe it.

At this point in my life, I had to adopt an inner critic. It's my dog. He knows I am getting physically lazy, so he motivates me to go out and do things together. Walk, throw the frisbee, play inside the house, go to bed in a timely way. He is actually very friendly.

You would be more than welcome. He is a very sweet pet. Gets along with other animals, children, and is a tad spooked still by horse. He LOVES chicks and kittens in particular and anything baby really.

@soulsings

inner critic holds me accountable.

it can be suppressed, completely removed or even become complimentary if you defy its criticisms and prove otherwise

@soulsings my inner critic is a big meanie mcbeanie🙁 it makes me feel a lot of shame, blame , and makes me know I'm not good enough to accomplish anything. But I showed that monster, I can do art and crafts, and have fun.

but now it's telling me there is no chance of getting feeling in my left side back, even with the surgery. It's kinda scary and I'm not sure it's gonna work either🙁 but that's ok, cause I can still use my right arm and head, I can learn to adapt to coping with that, I'll find ways to still enjoy life ❤

Except this inner critique won't shut up. It's not as easy as it looks, so i chose to take my inner critique with me along.

Hey also, do we get certificates here as listeners? ( I know it's might be annoying or irrelevant, it don't relate to the post, but I was wondering about this, but didn't know whom to ask, so here we go)

How does your inner critic affect your daily life?

It tells me in implicit ways that nothing I ever do will be good enough, nor will I.

What helps you to replace the inner critic with a more friendly voice can help motivate the self more constructively?

That's the trouble I'm having. I know it's good to notice and write down condemning inner critic thoughts, to recognize their (often) extreme and (often, in the moment) emotionally charged nature, and to try to reframe them into something more moderate in nature. It's difficult to do, though. It's hard to know what's more moderate. It seems so convincing that it's the only truth there is, due to the strength, persistence, and the narrowing of cognitive faculties being in a depressed state for long periods of time causes. I think checking with someone to see how fair and balanced the thought is could be useful, so I can come up with something to say back in response when it pops up again.

Still working through it all. This post was a good reminder to build more awareness of inner critic thoughts.

@soulsings the "inner critic" isnt a monster that needs beating. the way you think about yourself links to 1) how you allow other people to treat you and 2) your own behaviours in relation to how you want your life to be. its trying to help you.................

@LetsChillOut yes the inner critic is like a paper puppet. It has no power except the power we give it.

@soulsings

Hello, so glad to be back and see some very good friends still holding the tourch.

Inner critic: my worse enemy, one that is always present and reminds me often of the words my mom said to me. I am not worthy to breath Gods air.

I fight and reject these words along with other things but never seem to win the battle. Maybe because ther is truth in her words. She is deceased now but her words are alive and well. I have eried a lot of things to change this but maybe they are too deep rooted or maybe I really think she was right. I wish I had AdmiralPeaces attitude. I still try. life is short and we all need to enjoy it if we really can.

Best Wishes to All💕💕
