Good Advice

“Don’t abandon yourself to keep someone else.”
"You reap what you sow "
That is a very true statement. It may take a lifetime to realize the effects and it may be easily noticeable or it might not be, but it's very true. Unfortunately for stubborn people like me an ineffective one.
It's okay to cry. But once you're done crying, make sure you never cry for the same reason again.
Learn to let go. If it's yours, it'll come back to you and if it doesn't, it was never yours.

To Be Kind and Present: Treat others how you want to be treated, as you never know what battles they are fighting, and speak nicely to yourself—that is the voice you hear most 🌹

At the time I was about to get married, I took my teenage step-daughter shopping for clothes (back in early 80s). $400 later, we were on the way out of the mall when she noticed a Norwegian cardigan at the Bloomingdale's entrance. That was another $200, so I told her I could make one for her.
The next day I was in a knitting shop and chose a pattern and wool closely matching what we had seen. I also found the silver buttons in an antique place. The cardigan was made in about a week and a coworker of mine said she would buy it off my hands for any price I wanted. Yes, I was free to knit at work, being that my section was essentially feminine.
I handed it over as a surprise to my step-daughter who looked..... horrified. Apparently it was not at all what she had in mind.
I was a bit miffed at her reaction and happened to comment on it to an older lady who was the chief of the section next door. Her ADVICE was a) to apologize to my step-daughter for not considering her exact taste and b) to offer to take her to the knit shop and choose a pattern and wool to HER liking.
One week later, a Norwegian sweater in more subdued colours was finished. She liked it so much that she would wear it to all the interviews she had to apply to universities, among other events.
I sold the other sweater to my coworker and told her her price was mine. My new husband and his ex-wife (who had a hard time NOT to interfere when they thought their daughter was so mean) sat back and smiled. Everyone was happy in the end.
20 years later, my step-daughter realized she was not wearing it so much and asked if I wanted it back. Of course I did, and I do wear it.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
@AshleyNFlewellenLPC
The best piece of advice I received and was given by myself to ME was
“slow down. Stress will eat you up. Cortisol will drain you. Take care of yourself as no one will. As long as things are going in the favor of others, no one will stop you. You deserve self care and self love. You have done enough and no matter how much more you will do it will always be taken for granted. Don’t lose your heart to resentment.”

Begin with the end in mind. So often we start a journey without a plan. We dont plan to fail. We fail to plan.

I don't know about the best advice I've ever received, but two people said something recently. One person told me that there is a job out there for me. All it has to do is make me feel happy and safe. Another person said that it's better to do what I can and feel happy about.
Those are two very important people to me.
