How do you deal with stress
I find my solace in reading. Journaling and optimistic manifestation.
How do you prevent burnout?
I take a break and pick up a book or simply sit by my window reminding myself of all the hope that still exists. Grounding techniques are also a great practice.
@trueconfidant123 good coping mechanisms.
@soulsings
Thank you!
@soulsings
- How do you deal with stress - I am not one who handles stress easily. I start to fumble in my actions and wording
- How do you prevent burnout? - I do a lot of meditation through out the day and yoga when feeling burned out
@soulsings I'm not good at handling stress. I try but if it keeps piling on I get quiet and irritable. Losing myself in music helps or spending time on a hobby
@mytwistedsoul nature can be a good cure for stress.
@soulsings
- How do you deal with stress? If it's an amount I can deal with alone I will meditate and do things which are good for me like yoga, going for walks etc. If it is excessive and triggers me, talking about it to someone trusted helps more.
- How do you prevent burnout? I follow a healthy routine and take breaks.
Live for yourself first and foremost. Then for others.
@Creamyyy I tried that when I was younger but it did not give me a lasting sense of happiness and by the time I got around to paying attention to other people they were not interested in someone that thought mainly of themselves.
What I meant is you can't pour from an empty cup. We have to ensure our well being before we can truly give something to anyone. As for those who didn't want to receive your attention perhaps they were not meant to be your destined people and you weren't theirs. I'm sure universe will give you people to whom you can be of help when you're ready to give your love.
@soulsings Burnout prevention is dependent on the situation. Caregiver burnout is difficult to prevent as a primary caregiver in a prolonged care situation when the course of illness is progresses with complications that are unpredictable. For me, the issue is how to manage a situation that fosters prolonged exhaustion without maladaptive behaviors and how to stay on track with sleep, exercise, prayer and nutrition. We are well-resourced and still, this is a fight to the finish for me this time around. Last time, it was 5 1/2 years with my in-law who had Lewy body with severe psychosis. This time, it is my husband with unpredictable cardiac issues and complications. Even with help, with paid staff, the responsibility and the strain are soul-crushing. Since it's my husband, I have to pray this caregiving situation goes on for years.
@Dodofaith caregiver burnout is difficult to avoid. I find by monitoring anger and doing avoidance I am less burned out and more joyful as a caregiver.
@Dodofaith
I really appreciated reading this comment. After leaving an abusive job 2 years ago, I've been treating general burnout with virtually no improvement in the last 8 months. I felt like something was wrong with me, as I've worked every kind of coping mechanism into my daily routine by now: journaling, mindfulness, meditation, escapism, constant dietary improvements and exercise, but nothing takes me out of the constant "sad or numb" seesaw
It makes a lot of sense to think about how live-in caregivers don't get the full time to decompress and live each day, even if a partner is supportive and tries to facilitate it. There's always going to be a lifestyle check, or just the anxiety of one in the background. While it's discouraging that constant caregiving may be the real reason for continuing burnout, it helps to hear that the failure to improve is with the environment rather than the self. I wish I had some helpful techniques to share with you. 🫂
@soulsings
If the situation can't be improved, I acknowledge that and give up. I move along and away from toxicity and quietly.
*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️
@SparkyGizmo you are so wise dearest sparky!
