@soulsings My past has shaped the person I am today in every way! Literally everything I've gone through in my past plays a part in contributing to the Desiree I am today. ♡☆ I needed everything that was meant for me and my growth.

@soulsings

my past has made me realize the immense depths of my heart!! How much it is capable of feeling, loving, enduring, forgiving and holding.. it has shown me that the heart can carry immense pain and immense love at the same time and still find room to grow. I’ve discovered depths within myself that I never knew existed and that understanding has shaped not just who I am, but how deeply I experience life!!

I really wonder how does the heart survive even after breaking like that!! And not only survive.. but thrive!!

@Amanda84 more skeptical of people's motives until they demonstrate they just want to be kind.

@soulsings

it’s interesting how in protecting ourselves from hidden intentions, we can sometimes make genuine kindness feel as though it needs to prove itself!

@soulsings I don't compare. I don't regret about the past. I always strive to improve myself. I practice goodness and faith in my life. THANKS TO MY PAST and GOD FOR BUILDING ME INTO WHO I AM TODAY!

(73F-fr) Considering my age, I have a long past. Mainly, I have learned how to be more aggressively kind to others and it seems to work. My mother used to say that I never was able to hold a grudge against anyone and that was a flaw.

My social life has been very diverse and it has helped me learn about others, particularly if they came from different cultures or social backgrounds.

I was a thief as a child, but what I stole was used for others. I got caught and never did it again.

@Fradiga

I don't see that as a flaw at all. :) Grudges are just a poison you drink hoping someone else gets sick. All you do is poison yourself.

@TovaCares76

Thank you for your kind comment. My mother worried that people could take advantage of the situation, and at times, they did, but I did not have to dwell on it.

I agree with your take on the poison!! It's actually quite funny

My past has helped me to learn from my mistakes. There were many lessons that my past taught me. I wouldn't have learned these lessons if I didn't make these mistakes.

@Admirablerainbow2825 making mistakes and leaning to avoid them is a source of wisdom.

@soulsings

Crummy childhood experiences has led to me taking up some pretty negative ideas. The biggest one is that people can't be trusted. They have to prove to me that they are trustworthy, I can't take them at their word. Also, when I meet new people I immediately expect them to be awful and say mean things. Again, they have to prove otherwise. Too many friend betrayals, and watching as a child my parents be betrayed by others they've trusted...it does things to people, man. Also, I don't believe strangers on the internet who say they care about me (sorry but it's true 😬).  Like, do I know you??

But despite these deep wounds, I also think my past has produced some good things, such as my drive to defend my family from other crummy people.

Also being compassionate towards others less fortunate than I am and wanting to help them. Growing up low-income and food-insecure has led me towards causes that assist hungry people in need, and that's something I feel strongly about because I know what it's like having to go to a food bank or a soup kitchen for your next meal.

To end, I AM trying to work on shifting my more negative mindset. It's slow and my brain resists all the time, but one day I hope to be more open to others again. :)

I think if someone is the more beautiful or handsome, the more hurt in the past
