Traumatic Experiences Community Daily Check In - Monday May 7th 2018
Ive been reflecting a little on recent check ins, and I see a lot of the posts are on worries:
- what if this happens
- what if people think this about me
- what if this never works out for me
what if, what if, what if?
Well fact fans, I read that 85% of our worries never actually materialise. And of the 15% that do, only 1 in 5 of those worries are as bad as first perceived. Thats 3% of total worries. So for every 100 worries you have, about 3 may actually be justified. 12 will be far less significant than you expect them to be. And 85 simply wont happen at all.
(Note I had to edit these figures after @BeeLeigh pointed out my original figures came to 110%. But lets not worry about it)! Thanks Bee 😄

What if you cast aside your worries, and just lived each day as it happened? Youve survived so much already, why doubt yourself?
Great to have you here. Pop by, share your thoughts, say hello, youre all welcome here ❤️

@DeborahUK
I love that! I have never been much of a worrier but it has become a bit of a trap lately.
My bat has always been my joy, I was really skilled in laughing every worry away. It has become a bit harder to find joy in the midst of every thing. It is a good focus for today. Thanks!
@MaschaV
I like the idea of joy being a way to shrug things off. They do say laughter is the best medicine after all.
It takes no more time to see the good side of life than to see the bad.

@DeborahUK for real, I used to surf with Jimmy Buffet. He used to bring his surfboards to the shaper whom made mein, and he would come up from the keys everytime we had a big storm. We would alle meet at the shop and choose a break to surf, hit it, then go to dinner. Wycked cool man. Truely the pinacle of chill.
Hi Deb... I am happy to say I have had a good day today. The past few days I have pushed past huge boundaries that have held me back. First I got an actual check up from the doctor which I have been so scared to do. It did shake me but I bounced back. Also today I had a training thing for work which involved touch which I hate but I did it. Then I socialised pushing past my anxiety and realised that maybe just maybe people do want to get to know me. I am pretty proud of myself tonight
Hope everyone is well!! Sending out lots of love and hugs if wanted
Hi
Worry is probably the main thing I am struggling with at the moment, it has made me not well and my anxiety has gotten worse. I have always been a worrier since I was a child, I am not sure how to let go of my worries. If anyone has some tips that would be lovely
Love and hugs to all
@FloweringBunny
How about a worry tree? Theres two versions:
or.....

Maybe both are fairly simplistic, but theres something to be said for trying to empty your head of worry, and writing them down can be such a powerful tool. Then maybe consider a plan to address it, and try to move on - safe in the knowledge its dealt with.
@DeborahUK Thank you, I will try this
I amnot doing good at all, my body is aching all over,anxieties are out if control and I feel like ive been having a near constant panic attack for 2days now and nothing I seem to do seems to have any long term effects, only peace I get is when Im sleeping but then I wakeup and my body feels like itnever slept all.
Wish I could convince my brain to be able to sweep some of its worries away and to stop sending so much adrenalin through my body because its so hard to finction with it 😢😥😧
@indigoBeing9907
That does sound like pretty hard going. Do you find youre able to distract yourself at all? Are there things you particularly like to do, or how about having a bit of a clear out and trying to raise some money at the same time? Ive just been listing some of my books and music on sales websites, and it sure does pass the time.
Or would grounding help you? Something to keep you in the present moment, reassuring you of your surroundings and reminding you youre safe. Again, it may stop your mind casting forward and backwards to whatevers worrying you.
Or write it down. Get those pesky thoughts out of your head and see if that brings you some peace of mind.
Unrelenting anxiety which robs you of your ability to focus on anything else is truly horrible. Its good to reach out in those circumstances, whether to friends, therapists, or on here. But the one thing you dont have to do is just put up with it. Try something different, as you never know what may work for you, however ineffective you initially think it sounds.
@DeborahUK
Thank you for your kind reply but I feel I have exhausted my list, I have tried distraction,being productive, helping others(which usually works for me)exercise,mindfullness, yoga, just sitting with it for a while, acceptance, .......im exhausted ,if I could just get 24hours of relief I could recharge. I think the next option is to go back to the doctor because unhealthy coping mechanisms are looking very tempting right now.
If it was thoughts I reckon it would be easier but there are no thoughts, its just this constant panic attack where my heart is beating out of my chest, it feels like I have limps in my throat, rock in my stomach and constantly being hit by micro little men on my upper arms and shoulders .....lols all this sounds very melodramatic and almost laughable....gawd wish I could find it funny.
@indigoBeing9907
Oh gosh, that does sound very hard to cope with. I think youre absolutely right that seeking medical help may well be a very wise next step. If you cant pinpoint whats creating the feeling, its very difficult to think differently about it isnt it? I sincerely hope you get some peace of mind. Please hang in there. As with everything that feels never ending, it will pass eventually. But I appreciate for you its a very tough time right now. My thoughts are with you.
I love this. <3 My only worry today is possibly getting my grandparents sick since I have a cold. I'm okay right now other than that.
@SentientCozyTeacup
Are you one of those kind and giving people who likes to share your cold with others? They do have a habit of travelling dont they?
I hope youre soon recovered and the grandparents stay safe :)
@DeborahUK
haha yup. Mine like to try to hop around. Thank you. I hope I do too. <3
