Hey Trauma Family,
This week its time for our Day 6 of the ACT series topic Become Willing
Goal: To learn how to take things as they are.
Acceptance is the act of receiving or taking what is offered. Willing is a synonym for accepting. Acceptance and willingness can be understood as an answer to the question: Will you take me as I am?
Questions

willingness - accepting emotions as they come, even bad ones like anxiety, and not judging them.
unwillingness - judging your emotions and trying to push away bad feelings.
trying to remind myself of this as i struggle with anxiety today.
@crimsonSpruce612 spot on and youve got this you know this but i do understand the want to push it away your not alone
@CaringBrit
Thanks so much
@crimsonSpruce612 yw
how have you been feeling
@CaringBrit
mostly pretty good. i've been dealing with some stuff that's coming up as i deal with my trauma, which can make some days difficult. like today i feel a lot of anxiety and i'm not sure why. that happens often. but i feel lighter since opening up about my trauma so most days have been pretty good. thanks for asking.
@CaringBrit

You're so welcome, Redhawk. Anytime
1. Willingness is consent to allow someone to help you or to do something for you. Willingness to accept a compliment instead of pushing it away. Willingness to accept a friend. It can also be internal. Willingness to want to get better. Willingness to ground myself when I am triggered instead of riding the train of misery out. Willing to try to accept positivity.
2. Unwillingness is the triggers. The claustrophobic feeling I feel whenever I'm reminded of situations I have been in. The unwilling voice in my head that tries to convince me its better to be miserable because if I'm happy I am vulnerable because happiness can go away.
@sadcupoftea
Sometimes I feel the same as your example at the end of number 2. It is scary sometimes & it can be hard.
I am new to this part of the 7 cups community. Just wanted to introduce myself. Love that you have DBT skills here! I took DBT a few times, and have a workbook here at home I am plowing through. My traumas are many, but in a nutshell, severe childhood abuse that reached into adulthood with its many tentacles of pain and endless consequences of the abuse. My mother is my main living abuser, but both parents were guilty of it, amongst other perps. I am currently trying to end my mother's destructive power in my life, after having severed the relationship nearly a year ago. It has caused severe depression in me, which I am now trying to survive. Just sayin', the abuse might have been technically over a long time ago, but complex PTSD is the gift that keeps on giving. Thanks for having a special forum just for people who have been traumatized!
