Is this replacing the 7CupsCommunity account answering questions in the forum? Or are both options available?
@AffyAvo I haven't seen @7CupsCommunity answering anything recently, sadly.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie It would be nice if admin would confirm for certain. I assume this, but I assumed it before and the team was just very behind on answering.
I did like the tag method, sometimes it makes more sense to tag an admin elsewhere to get an answer than to get it here.
@AffyAvo
Hi Affy! It's still active, just a little behind. Trying to catch up :)
@EvelyneRose I don't think I've seen @7CupsCommunity answering anything recently either. Trying to catch up would imply answering more often than usual in order to clear a backlog.
Maybe the last reply I remember was this one from May 11th, ending in the ill-fated prophecy:
We will keep the community posted on all future changes and improvements plans. It is all team efforts. We all are in this together.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie
Fair enough! I asked @ASilentObserver and that was the answer, so maybe he can chime in.
@AffyAvo~ hey AffyAvo, both options are available. We do hope this helps you.
Hello. I am a listener on 7 cups. I was wondering how do I complete the listeners oath and also I am confused about some of 7 cups guidelines. I am still figuring things out. This is my first week of being a listener.
@Sudaine
HI Sudaine nice to see you here and asking the questions you need answers for. So for the listener Oat, you will read it and then copy the oath, hit reply and write in this "I Sudaine" and paste the oath in the box hit enter.

Welcome to 7cups and I am glad you are here with us. Please do ask any thing you are confuzzled on and we like to help you
@Sudaine You can find more information and discussion about the guidelines in this area of the forum: Community Guidelines But you are also welcome to ask specific questions here and someone will help you to figure things out.

Hi Tazzie :)
I just had a question about reviews. Do most members leave them? I made my account recently and I've had around 5 chats, all with lovely people who said I really helped. Do reviews impact a listener's progress or standings? Because so far, I have none, haha.
@sereneoceanscene Personally, I seem to get written reviews from about 1 in 5 "people helped" on average, according to my profile. So I'd say you're unlucky to have helped 7 people so far without a review.
I read somewhere that it's OK to ask for a review at the end of a chat, but I can't remember where I read that. And I think remembering to press the End Live Chat button might also help.
You need one or more written reviews to become a verified listener, and six or more to become a peer supporter. Those are just the first two I found, and the might be others.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie
Yeah! I was looking into those programs and I've fulfilled all the requirements except for the reviews ): I guess I'll just pick up more chats, haha. Thank you so much for the advice.
@RarelyCharlie
yes it's perfectly fine to ask for reviews if in a respectful manner.
@Tazzie, So, I've got a depressing question. I wrote a review about a listener, and that review was picked up and published by 7cups as part of the listener's profile. My review was glowing because this listener helped me profoundly when i first began talking to her. I was having a crisis and she helped me through and made a lasting impact in a great way. I have talked to that listener a lot and have come to understand that she has a substance abuse problem. I feel hurt by her and cannot trust her to protect herself against herself, or to help me. My question is this; How do I have that review removed? I do not want anyone to get the impression that this listener is someone who can be trusted. She is a danger to herself at the least. Thank you.
@purpleTree4652 Might I ask, has the listener done anything during your time talking to you that would justify removing the review? It sounds as though she just has some things going on in her personal life, which I think a majority of listeners actually go through. It's possible that she has a member account herself if she needs support for her own things. Having your own personal struggles doesn't make someone unable to be an effective listener, it sounds as though she really did help you and was supportive to you, and that the review was genuine. If this is the case, I don't see the need to remove the positive review just because she has her own struggles. You're welcome to no longer speak to her, but I think removing a positive review should be reserved for when someone was nice at first, but turned awful (such as bullying, harassing, being inappropriate, etc). Using substances, even to the point of having substance abuse issues, doesn't automatically make someone a bad person, or untrustworthy. If you really feel like she has done something that would warrant removing the review, you might be able to email community@7cups.com about it, but personally I don't feel that merely having substance abuse problems would qualify for that.
@TaranWanderer, yes, she was inappropriate
Im new here so I dont really know how to use this site at all but is there any way you can just have like a set thing automatically sent to a new listener? Just like a discription of whats going on? I spoke to a lovely person the other day but almost an hour and a half of our conversation was just me filling in the background information that they dont know about and Im to lazy to spend over an hour just filling in a new person.
@dapperLunch3421 There's really too much information for new listeners, most of it spread around the forum and some of it offsite. Some of it is out of date. So what to tell new listeners is a problem.
One simple approach would be to send this link to the New Listener Resources area of the forum:
7cups.com/forum/ListenerLearningJourney_149/NewListenerResources_1934/
The link only works for listeners. If you click it from a member account, it doesn't work.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie
thankyou for the response. Can you please explain the link a bit more and what it actually is? What would listeners see if they click the link and how do I put stuff on it?
@dapperLunch3421 Oh, it's a link to an area of the forum where there are many resources for new listeners. Listeners who go there can find a lot of information about how 7 Cups works, and find out how to contact a listener coach for more help.
You can't put anything there from a member account. If you want to post your own information for new listeners, you could put it in the Community Information area of the forum instead, bookmark it, and send the link to any new listeners you encounter.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie
thankyou!!!!
Hi! I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! I just became a listener 2 days back on 7cups, and am a newbie. I am really enjoying talking to people and volunteering, and am considering applying for the internship. Can someone please explain to me the following things as I am still somewhat confused on how to us this:
1) What is the internship and what do I do in it?
2) What are the requirements to apply for internship?
3) How can I fulfil these requirements?
4) Where can I find the form to apply?
5) If I want to include my volunteering hours in any medical/graduate school application or resume, is there a contact person who I can put down as proof?
Thank you in advance!
Best wishes :)
@111imhereforyou111
Hi and welcome to the 7cups listener team
I will try and provide you all the information I can
1) What is the internship and what do I do in it?
All you need to know is in the forum thread Also there are several internships here on 7cups. Is the one your interested in here ---> https://www.7cups.com/forum/7CupsInternship_167/FAQsandResources_1127/7CupsInternshipLibrary_83630/
I was scrolling through a seemingly endless list of "listeners" that only listen to teens. Are there any listeners for adults?
@Endrun If you're logged in and you're an adult, then I think the Browse Listeners page only shows you listeners who listen to adults.
If you're not logged in, you can press the More Filters link at the top of that page and filter it so you only see adult listeners.
Charlie
@Tazzie
um....I don
@20000
haha I dont but I really need one too. Please let me know if you think of a good one that you dont want to use
@Tazzie
Hello Tazzie, thank you providing us with a space to ask questions openly. I have 2 questions that I'm hoping you might be able to answer.
My first question involves requesting a listener. From the homepage I will click "Chat With A Free Listener" and then click "Connect Now" when prompted to do so. The next page that will load will be a chat screen in which Noni will ask and or present what category or sobject matter I was wanting to talk about when I'm paired with a listener. Often times before I can answer, I will get a notification that a listener is ready to talk. So I'll click to start the chat because I don't want to keep a listener waiting, but that means on several occasions I've been paired with a listener that doesn't chat with members about certain subjects. For example, I may want to discuss PTSD or Anxiety and I'll get a listener that doesn't feel comfortable and it'll refect the type of chats they take on their profile. I hold nothing against the listener for choosing what they feel comfortable listening to, i respect that. But am I doing something wrong that listeners are selecting to talk to me before I can tell Noni what subject I'd like to discuss?
My second question, How can I set listener preferences? specifically, with regards to setting listener location preferences. The ability to allow/ restrict listeners based on locatoin. I ask because there several instances where I was in a depressive mental state and could really use someone to vent to only to discover that cultural differences made it difficult for the listener to understand common social norms and i've had to go into explaining those social behaviors. It can be discouragingi when in a vulnerable state of mind to have to explain geographical sociatal norms.
@LindseyLobotomy
Hi Lindsey! For the first one, you're not doing anything wrong :) people just pick them up fast sometimes.
For the second, geographical location is a great idea! You can search by language though and that might get you close!
i'll tag an admin so they can get these ideas logged. Thank you! @ASilentObserver
Does anyone know if there's a list of links to applications for volunteer roles in the community? Specifically I'm looking for the application for Chat Supporter role for member. <3
