Stop Caring What Others Think

When you’re over 35, do you find it easier to stop caring about what others think?

*** Yes! Life too short, I spent the majority of my life getting myself upset with what others think of me… it’s time for a new era, one where I care less about what others think and focus more on what brings me peace!

@jesusredeemedme2425 I have always cared what people thought, but I remember a few years ago I learned that as you approach 40, you start caring less. To be honest, this could've been from a scientific article or a comedian, I don't remember where I heard it. But it resonated, and I waited every day after like a kid waiting for their birthday: "Is it today? Am I 40 today?!" 😜

I am finding it to be true, though: the older I get, the less I care what everyone else thinks. It's amazing, and I am so thankful for it!

I can mask caring pretty well, but I recently found out there is a name for how I feel sometimes. I always felt I lean toward being an empath, but now I learned I have FOPO. Fear of other people's opinions. I've struggled with it for a long time. I think it has gotten better as I have grown older like I said I can mask pretty well.

@jesusredeemedme2425 I have found it easier, honestly. While I have things I still need help with, I have been told by my best friend that I don't mask myself for people--which I think is more of a compliment then they meant it. I have found it easier to just present myself as I am currently, and if people like it? Cool. If they don't? Cool.

I am 36. I feel i am not good enough compared to other people. I still seek other's people's opinion about myself.

So, i dont think age itself will make it easier to care less about what other people think of you,

Perhaps it is life experiences where you find out your value that would help

Yes after so much pain. I have stopped caring what is been spoken about me. Or who loves me and who doesn't.

I'm 39 and like secretSky8163 I also don't think age itself fixes it. If anything I feel like recently I've been caring about other people's opinion more than before. Perhaps it has something to do with not trusting yourself enough, thus you rely on others' opinion more to guide you. Maybe it all depends on your overall satisfaction of life. The more content you feel - the less you care what others think.
