Originally established in 2002 as a way for people to come outside and take in the fresh air while caring for their gardens, this unique day has been observed ever since. It's a wonderful way to connect with friends and family, be creative in your garden design, or just relax in nature.

How can you celebrate National Garden Day?
Gosh, I don't know which are my favorite of flowers. I love them all. So far this spring I planted seeds in pots for marigolds from 2022. And they are sprouting! I think I feel the same about herbs and fruits. I love them all. I tried planting lettuce seeds from 2022 and they haven't come up yet. I love tomatoes.
I can go out and plant more seeds to celebrate national gardening day. :)

Planting more seeds especially for veggies sounds great so you have some fresh food in your garden! I hope your lettice seeds will still germinate. Do you keep them in the fridge to increase the life span?

I am not a gardener myself but I like to see flowers, plants and herbs in garden or people's yard.
I have seen my neighbour plant pumpin, cucumber, lemon, coriander, green chilli, brinjal, tomato and ladies finger on their yard. They have flowers like marigold, jasmine and roses.
Gardening is their hobby and they love to maintain their yard with seasonal vegetables and flowers. They even prepare their compost by themselves with fallen leaves. I was impressed that they have dedicated their retirement to involve in this hobby.
To celebrate National Gardening Day I will visit nearby park to get fresh air, sun and ofcourse more plants. 🪴 🌿 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹

I’ve been out side cleaning the stones round our pond it’s been very theraputic. Took my mind off family problems .
We don’t have a very big garden it’s long and thin , very good for throwing the ball for our miniature Bull terrier Fraggle tho .

My sister is way better at this than I am. She likes to have both a winter and a summer garden. When I was able to help her, I'd prepare the soil (I enjoyed digging and weeding) and maybe plant a few things of my own, particularly Japanese veggies and a ton of different herbs which are not sold in out local supermarkets. She also has a variety of potatoes, artichokes, anything that grows on vines, etc.
However, we do not have flower beds. A few pots on the terrace where I grow herbs and lavender (it helps with the mosquitoes!). There is plenty of wild flowers and rose bushes and the chickens are loose everywhere, so planted flowers need to be caged. My favourite to grow are painted daisies - I used to grow tons of those and give them away.

It must have been fun to work with your sister in the garden to grow such special varieties! Nice that you still continue to plant in pots. I find many things grow pretty well in pots and do not require a garden especially if the plants are at risk due to chicken 😀. Daisies are beautiful plants, some of my favorites because I find they spread joy!

I have bunnies, and turkeys and deer and woodchucks that love whatever I plant so I have a "wild garden" which whatever grows is my garden, Here is what is in bloom now.

Do you secretly run a wild animal restaurant? 😀 Just kidding, I know from own experience how frustrating it can be when you plant, and animals come to eat all! We all want to live, that's what I tell myself with the monkeys.

How can you celebrate National Garden Day?
Finally giving up on my plant - Aglaonema that has been dying and planting a new sapling in honour of it instead. I've been meaning to plant a new life and make up for what I couldn't give to my dear Snow White. I can also sit with my green babies and tell them how much I love them. Being with them is my favourite thing to do. It makes me happy and rejuvenated. I also recently revived my Tulsi - Holy Basil plant after the leaves dropped and it was close to dying. My favorite flowers are peonies, hydrangeas, clematis. My favorite herbs are rosemary, basil, thyme, and mint. My favorite fruits wouldnt grow in the climate i live in, however my favorite veggies to plant are lettuce, and zucchinis.
