Oh wow. Since being with my Spouse .... my my.
We do cruising. Why? because I can put away my phone and electronics and be disconnected. NO ONE can get ahold of me :) Employer won't pay for satellite or international calling. Also Cruising is one of the least expensive forms of travel.

With my parents, towards the end (my parents have been deceased for a while) they purchased an RV and had taken me with them on a few trips which resulted in us being in every state (CONUS) except Washington, Wyoming, Montana, North & South Dakota.
Where would I like to go?
In the States .. I would love to take my Spouse to Vegas & Hoover Dam. My spouse has never been there. Doubt we will go because it is now expensive. It use to be cheap hotels and cheap food. No more!!
Would love to rent a convertible and take my spouse down route 1. Would be super cool to do it in a 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible or 1958 Ford Galaxie or Chevy Impala, 1964 Catalina convertible. and large large amounts of sunscreen and water.
Outside US:
Hawaii to say we did it.
UK - London, Cardiff - Like Torchwood and many Doctor Who shows.
Scotland - because it is a part of my heritage
Portugal - Lisbon area. Highly considering retiring there.
Mediterranean Region - Spouses heritage
And the bucket list goes on. LOL

Been there many times, going there in a couple months. The place is safe. Can walk the streets and never worry about being robbed or pan handlers. Temp is always nice.

I so agree with you, vacations are needed to disconnect from the daily routine. It does not always mean having to travel, "staycations" can be really nice. Occasionally I have my staycation days here on the island - I call it playing tourist. It means having a long good breakfast outside under the tree in my garden, going to the beach or to town and just strolling around and spending the evening on my porch enjoying the cool breeze coming from the sea. 😃 One day I would love to go back to Thailand though, many years ago I spend an amazing vacation there, very relaxing.

I would like to go to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Macchu Piccu in Peru, and Sigiriya in Sri Lanka, among other places. They have fascinating histories. I have no interest in Rome or Paris. They're tourist traps.

Travel is important and so necessary for me! A lot of times my trips are small - going a couple of hours away to some state park or landmark in a city that I haven't visited before. I love to go hiking and I love history, so there's plenty of opportunity to find fun.

My best vacation was when we went out west to watch the total eclipse in 2017. After that we went to Mt Rushmore and I got to have my first helicopter ride on my birthday!! It was awesome.

Cause it was my birthday I got to sit in front, by the glass bubble. could see trees right under us... and I got some great pictures of Mt. Rushmore from the helicopter too. This is one of my favorite memories now.

I've been to Kauai, twice. Both times it was wonderful...expensive but wonderful. Great food, the weather is usually pretty good, & there's always that laid-back island vibe. Have never been to the "big island" & am not interested in that. I'll take Kauai any day.

On further thought, if money & time were no object (& if my health permitted it) I wouldn't mind checking out whatever parts of Latin America aren't too dangerous for norteamericanos to go to. I can bypass Mexico easily...met plenty of Mexicans here in the States already, so it wouldn't be all that new to me! Peru would be interesting because of Maachu Picchu & the other old ruins there. Chile might be good, too. I'd go to Argentina but the economy there--particularly the inflation--is just ridiculous...maybe the Dominican Republic, as it's not far from my state & American dollars can buy a lot there.
Would love to go to Greece for similar reasons: the cradle of Western civilization, etc. Also, they have some great wines there!
One place I will never go to is China, for reasons we all know by now.
I am with you to visit areas that are safer and closer works well for me too. Great wish list! I struggle with mobility so I always have to consider that when and if I travel …. 💕💕💕💕

Just returned from the UK 🇬🇧 on a 7 day trip. It’s been over six months since my last getaway, and it was great being away from my routine. Some challenges too that I mentioned in a separate forum. 😉

Sorry your last trip was unpleasant. On my UK trip, I’d had friction with my friend and left on an unpleasant note. In a different post, I shared that concern. The feedback I got there was focusing on the positive parts of the trip.
Were there moments of your last trip that were enjoyable? Maybe focus on those if there were. It changed my perspective, and I was able to calm the friction with my friend.

The most important \ positive thing on my January trip.
I would say the most positive portion is that I was able to care for my spouse during a extreme medical situation. We were +1,500 miles away from home in a foreign country out in the middle of the ocean on a ship.
If I were not a part of the treatment and with my spouse being transported to the states. I could not imagine.
So the biggest positive was being there and caring for while also ensuring proper care was given to my spouse.

I enjoy travel, but my anxiety kicks into high gear when the travel is almost upon me and I have to pack. That’s been a challenge throughout my life. Thanks to May being mental health awareness month, I’ve been meditating and practicing mindfulness. It really helps! Even when I’d forgotten my chargers at home (!) and I couldn’t go back to retrieve them, I put it in the “what are ya gonna do?” 🤷🏻♂️ category, rather than obssess over it and get mad at myself.
How was Nashville? Never been. My partner wanted to go a few years ago, but she has to be careful with traveling being on social security for disability.
Anxiety can be tough for all when packing and while travelling agree.
I am a woman so you know I need extra outfits lol 😂 I use lists for me of essentials …. Passport, paperwork, airline apps, chargers meds etc …
Nashville was amazing just love it there. Beauty city with beautiful people. So much to do there! I love the temperature too bc I live in a much cooler climate Eastern Canada 🇨🇦 so it was like my summer.
I was there with the Swifties lol 😂 I saw Trevor Noah across the street at the Ryman the same night.
I love how you accept that you cannot change and it was probably a good thing.
