Hey Everyone!!
Thomas Insel is an American neuroscientist and psychiatrist who led the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) from 2002 until November 2015. This past April, he gave a powerful talk at the National Counsel Conference! The video of this talk is pretty remarkable and we'd like to invite you to watch it. Insel highlights the challenges faced by mental health providers, the system at large and the effectiveness of the current efforts to treat mental illness.
Additionally, Insel discusses how technology can play a more integrated and deliberate role in the mental health field, helping to establish better treatment and outcomes for those who need them most. He uses 7 Cups and our community as an example of a one such technology! It is incredible to see our community featred in his talk! It gives our work more context and meaning! It reminds us how important the work we do every day at 7 Cups is!

@Laura I love the concept of free mental health but three quarters through the video they actually called out 7cups for doing a great job in just this way. Very encouraging video.
Wow, wow, wow!
Tom Insel's presentation is interesting, practical, sensible, and smart. Based on facts. Open-minded to an amazing extent. I learned a lot.
And what he says about 7 Cups? Yowza!! That's more than a shout out, it's practically a paeon. He spends several minutes talking about what 7 Cups does, and how hundreds of thousands of people are participating on their smartphones and laptops. He showed charts with statistics. He's clearly impressed.
And he's got immense stature and credibility in the mental health community, having been a leading physician/scientist at the National Institutes of Health for many years, heading up the National Institute of Mental Health.
I felt so happy and proud to see this.
