Weekly Prompt #18: What are your main sources of stress in your life?
Hello everyone, I hope you are all being easy on yourself this week.
A couple of weeks ago we discussed: Are there any particular thoughts or worries that frequently occupy your mind? Thank you to all who participated and shared their thoughts for discussion. I enjoyed them. I hope you all did too. If you didn't share yours, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
This week's prompt: What are your main sources of stress in your life?
This week I want us to reflect and explore this topic that can help us understand and explore the sources of our stress. Please take a moment to identify the areas that are causing you the most stress. Let's get started and all thoughts are welcomed!
Note: A helpful tip from @hope : "I recommend the book 'How to stop worrying and start living'. You can find the audiobook on YouTube"

Feeling of uncertainty and anxiety. Having money makes life so easy. Not having it turns life into such miserable mess from which it is extremely difficult to get out of.
@Polahn It is understandable that feelings of uncertainty and anxiety could arise during such challenging times. Please know we are all here with you to listen to and to support. you are not alone in thiss, polahn
Yup, poverty touches a big part of Humanity. It sucks and nothing can be done about it. It is what it is.
Fear of one day not being able to care for my loved ones.
Not being enough.
Getting too much attached to someone and seeing that person slowly going away.
Not performing at work.
Not having enough money.
Most of the time Dad stresses me out when we're not ready to check out by placing me near the check out lane while he goes gets something. But today was 200x worse.
We're at Costco and Dad wanted to talk to the customer service desk but he obviously wasn't thinking or something because when he parked me he parked me LITEREALLY in line for one of the check-out lanes and when he was busy talking at the CS desk -i empty the cart of items that needed to be put on the conveyer belt and Dad got mad at me for doing that and when I tried to point he had literally parked me in a check out line he claimed he hadn't and also said "never mind". I KNOW when I'm in a check-out line vs when I'm not.

I mean couldn't the asking the CS desk people waited until AFTER the check-out instead of BEFORE the check-out?
@Disneywoman That sounds like a really frustrating situation. It is understandable you would feel stressed being placed in the checkout line without meaning to be. How are you feeling now about what happened?
@ASilentObserver
still *** the *bacon* off. It's bad enough when he places me near the check out (Not in line) or the pharmacy (of Costco) with the end of the cart facing the pharmacy because people think I'm in line for the check-out or for the pharamcny.
That's why if I can, I prefer to follow Dad around in other stores then be "parked" someplace
Being poor so having to work so having to skip university so not getting my degree so staying poor.
I failed everything and wanna dc.
@Habibbh991 I hear how frustrating that cycle of feeling stuck in poverty must be for you. It sounds like not being able to continue your education due to financial reasons has left you feeling disappointed in yourself. You have experienced a lot already in life.
My biggest source of stress is me. I worry that I'll just keep failing in my life and everyone around me is gonna move ahead in life while my entire life will be a failure.
For me main source of stress in my life is I think college life. Seeing people in college cause me anxiety, not having partner made me feel lonley. Seeing more attractive and good looking people going behind girl I like made me feel broken hearted and decreased my self esteem. Social situations made me feel wierd. Not doing enough in studies and goals made me feel more stress. Rude and negative behaviour of crazy teacher made me feel exhausted. Yeah I think college is my main source of stress Or it's people.
@exuberantTalker9747 It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now with college life and social relationships causing you stress. Feeling lonely and seeing others in relationships can be difficult. How do you cope with these feelings?
I try to take break from college after every 2 or 3 days. And going to the gym helps me a lot to cope with my difficult feelings. Sometimes I came here on 7 cups in community forums and try to talk to listeners also. I do try my best but it still sometimes feels like not enough.
@exuberantTalker9747 It sounds like you are experiencing difficult feelings and struggling with motivation. Taking breaks from college and going to the gym can provide some relief, and seeking support through communities can also be helpful. Please know taking your small steps counts and you are doing your best matters. Is there anything else you find helpful when you're feeling overwhelmed?
Right now I don't know anything else that helps me.
My abusive parents and the worry of what’s gonna happen with my brother once I move out. It really scares me because whenever I think about that aspect of my future, my brain automatically imagines the worst case scenario.
@Juxtklop That sounds incredibly overwhelming. I can only imagine how much stress you must feel. Can you tell me more about what you mean by "the worst-case scenario"?
@ASilentObserver I have PTSD because of the mental, emotional and physical abuse I went through as a child. I had hit rock bottom at an extremely early age. Back then, I just wished there was somebody I could talk to and somebody who I could share my feelings openly with without being told I’m being dramatic and being blamed. I just don’t want my brother to go through the same thing. Especially because he will be of the same age as I was when I had attempted. I really wish I could be there for him.
