If I knew this would happen, I would have talked to you sooner. You called to talk about life and I thought we had forever. Oh boy, how wrong I was.
I pressed to accelerate, I needed to see you soonest. Speeded down the highway, I whispered to no one, if you must go, wait for me a little while longer.
I stepped into the place that gave me chills. Just in time for her to announced your departure. Despite my regrets, thank you for waiting a little while longer.
@ouiCherie
Very unique, Cherie. I enjoyed reading it.

I love this
A letter to my Inner Child
I’m sorry for what you’ve been through
I’m sorry for not having been there for you when you cried out loud for help
It hurts me knowing you had to do it all on your own, no one at your side
I wish I would have heard your begging for help, seen your tears when you crawled up somewhere hiding from the world
I thank you for pushing through and for never giving up
There’s still a long way to go but now we go together
@amiablePeace77 beautiful poem very inspiring
@Clarisse29 if I knew this would happen I would have talked to you sooner. I would have let you cuddle me that one night you tried, I would have told you just how much you meant to me, being my link to the rest of the family, being Strong enough to make me do the hard things, I would have apologized for when I yelled. I would have talked to you about being my mom, and my needing to grow up, but not through trauma. I would have talked to you sooner about humbling myself before your death. I could of said how sorry I was for every time I ever hurt your feelings. I would have told you what a beautiful and individual person you are. I would thank you for protecting me in such a horrific car accident. I would say I loved you as my mother, and walked with you s my friend.
If I knew this would have happened,
I would have talked to you sooner.
I would have replayed our conversations over and over,
Until they became a part of me.
Instead of a cutting through my wide open chest.
I would have said more I love you's,
I would have fought harder to repair the damage done.
I would have opened up faster,
Showing you the emotions I experienced.
Now,
All I can do is replay our last happy conversation,
Hearing your laughter,
And praying you knew how special you were to me,
How much I love you.

The Distant Times
The time is ticking,
The world is spinning,
My mind is racing,
As I think about you.
All the times we spent,
Worrying about the current,
But we never thought,
To talk things through.
You're a world away,
In another time and space,
And If I knew this would happen,
I would have talked to you sooner.
It's all to late,
To worry right now,
But you'll be in my heart,
Where it's healing still.

@ThoughtfulBlossom

[cw, a poem to my best friend/lover, who is gone of his own will]
If I knew this would happen, I would have talked to you sooner.
I would have reminded you that I was there.
If I knew how close you were, I would have ran
I'd run to your doorstep, I'd break into your house
I'd take you far away
To a safe place, just the two of us.
"Please stop, please stay
Don't go away
I need you here
My love, my dear
I know it's hard
I know too well
But the next time we meet can't be in Hell-
Just let me hold you
Let yourself cry
Because I couldn't take it if you were to die
Just three more years, that's what we'd say
Three more years and we'd run away
Who would I tell all my secrets and stories?
Who would be my light?
We promised that we'd still be together
At the end of this long, bloody fight
So please stop, please wait
Don't take your fate
Please hold out this hate..."
But my words were too late.
If I knew you were going I would have tried to say goodbye
Because I'm only so much, I know
If I knew, if only I knew... I would have never let you go.

this poem had my heart feeling waves of things, so so well done. thank you for sharing <3
@Clarisse29
Thank you so much <3
It is not the same.
I wish I would wake up and this all would be a game.
If I knew this would happen, I would have talked to you sooner.
I need you to know I’m trying my best.
I’m trying to get him and I out of this mess.
I don’t blame you, you need to know that too.
I blame the bottle and maybe one day he will be through.
If I knew this would happen
I would have talked to you sooner
But I didn't know who you were
Where you were and quite frankly thought you had disappeared.
Also I was told that you belong in another strata of society
And compared to you,I'm practically a beggar girl
Who would have thought the world would get so ravaged
It seems like a war with hate upon hate
Racism,sexism,and climate change
Families pulled apart in multiple ways
I'm not sure if anyone would have taken me seriously before
I was not sure anyone cares at all anymore
Whoever really cares would come to me I thought
Add to that the effects of this pandemic
The newspaper obituary column is full -day after day
An apocalypse of sorts,in many ways
What is this world we have tried to achieve
An eye for an eye -the whole world's blind
