Hi. My name is Kristina.
I'm a 17 years old student in high school.
I have been dealing with harassment for 11 years now, with a burn out for 5 years, with a depression for half a year and with eating disorders for I don't know how long.
I am a good student, with good grades, who always has a smile on her face and who never complain. So nobody knows what I'm currently dealing with. The few friends in have wouldn't understand and would probably judge me because of my thoughts and because I selfharm. And I cannot tell my family because it would make them to sad and they would be hurt because of me. I'm stuck in a hard position where I feel like I can't talk to anyone and everything's getting harder and harder this year because of the amount of work I have and the number of bullies in my class.
I need help butility I've alwaYstrad been to afraid to ask for it.

Hi, Kristina! That's a very long to be carrying the pain of harrassment. You do not deserve to be treated that way - and you're not alone. When we look around at others, we may think they appear to be 'fine', so we also try to appear to be 'fine.' For me, it was at least partially because of all the social stigma. It's even possible one of your friends or someone you know is also suffering, pretending to be fine, wondering if there is anyone who can relate to them. How amazing that you are here trying to share your story and break that social stigma! It's hard because when we're depressed, we're much more apt to put ourselves down and assume the worse will happen, often we don't even trust our friends, we think we may be a burden or our suffering is not significant, and we do tend to put on the smiles. :( Depression is an amazing friend filter, however! If someone reacts negatively when we reach out to them, they're really telling us that they're not good enough for us, and we deserve friends who will support us especially when we feel alone in our suffering. Coming to 7cups to try to find those connections and someone to share with was an amazing venture. Looking for help is the first step towards finding the right help for you. That's great! By the way, there's bullying section in the Trauma Community (here), just in case you want to take a look there as well, but never any pressure. :) Keep seeking what you think is best for you!
Keep reaching out until you find the support you're looking for! <3
Hello my name is garrett and I'm a 29yo male and I have been living with depression since my sophomore year of high school I worry about everything money my mother's health, my health, my job, how to keep going with no dream, failing, and most of all if I'm going to be alone forever not pleasant... in fact writing this has made me feel worse so I will now stop now hope everyone else has a better day then I am
@Tiredandalone88 - Hello, Garrett. Chronic depression can last for years and when we have anxiety about things, our minds can race and race with all sorts of negative thoughts, and we rarely ever worry that something good might happen. It's not unusual and you're not alone, but you deserve support too! Trying to tell our stories can be so difficult with depression keeping us down, and for so long too! Let us know how you're doing again when you feel up to it. You get to reach out at your own pace! <3
Hello there, I'm new to depression support community!!
And I'm looking forward to be more active and getting to know you all more!
@Fiercelyalive - Hello! Welcome to this community and thank you so much for posting! You have some great goals! <3 Maybe we'll see each other again in the community sometime!
Hi, at 26-year-old recently discovered I had depression. A lot has been happening in my life has changed and has metaphorically kicked me to where I am seeking help. I have a great support system in my life, but I also don't know how to help take care of myself through this. I'm guessing that's what I really want to know and learn, so I can have my support system and be strong enough for them.
@Cored - Hi! We can definitely have depression without even realizing it! That's actually one of the reasons it's so hard. The very nature of having depression can also cause us to doubt whether or not we have it. It's a tricky, heavy beast. It's so awesome that you are here seeking help! It's harder to find what we aren't open to finding. For me, I used to be in denial about my depression and would roll my eyes at all sorts of depression advice; when I decided it was time to start trying to cope with it, I realized that a lot of that advice was actually useful once I gave it a chance. I hope you find some methods or advice in our community that help you cope as well. Remember, it's not a straight line, but if you keep persisting, you will get where you want to be one day!
How awesome that you are ready to consider some new self-care methods! That's a great sign of hope. There's a resources section in this community (here), and an interactive 7cups self-help guide with lots of interesting info (here), and I also have an ongoing list of self-care techniques (here) -- just in case any of these links give you an idea of what you'd like to try! Basically, anything you can think of that doesn't hurt you or others is a great option for coping with depression! What kinds of things have you tried in the past, if anything? Feel free to share with us, and read what others are sharing. Maybe you will piece together some clues as to what you can do! <3
Hi I'm Andrea, I'm a 17 year old girl, about to graduate in a few months and I have (in my opinion) early stages of depression, on top of that I have family related stress and anxiety.
My parents don't know, and if I told them they would probably say "it's nothing, you don't have that, get that out of your brain", only one person at school knows (a friend) and it's become such a deal that I'm currently contemplating suicide. I haven't been a victim of bullying, it's just that what happens at school and the way I behave and how my parents react is a lot to take in. Today has been a crappy day and to top it all of, my dad might soon get an email saying that he's scheduled in a parent teacher conference with my tutor any school regarding me not paying attention in class (he might blame my phone and probably take it away), finding this out today caused me to have the biggest anxiety attack yet, I fell like i had no strength, felt dizzy and I just wanted to sleep (that's my "method of copping" just sleep and escape what's troubling you) I just want to end it all. I hope I can meet other people here that can relate and, I don't know, hope for the best?
@NightFury1801 - Hi Andrea. Graduating is a huge accomplishment that not everyone attains, that's amazing, go you! Depression and anxiety play off of each other in a really awful way. When anything stressful or awful happens, our depression is quick to spin us into depressive episodes and put us in a bad place. Our depression can use our anxiety to make us feel worse. It can also make analyzing things more difficult, more complicated. Unfortunately, a lot of us with depression have heard the same invalidating lines that you named, it's very sad. There's a lot of social misunderstanding and social stigma around it, which isn't helpful at all. Depression is a great social filter in that way, helping us find the people who truly support of us vs people who don't. Sleeping is a fine coping mechanism! But like anything, it can also be a form of self-harm - it all depends on how it impacts our life. If sleeping when you are feeling extra bad more-often-then-not helps you out, I think that's just fine! You're the expert on you. :) Just by being here and sharing your story, you are already helping to change the social stigma! You'll find a lot of people here who will relate to what you've written and will support you as you try to figure things out. Hoping for the best is an amazing start. I hope something good comes along and surprises you soon! Please stay in touch with us here in the community and give us an update when you're ready to. <3
Hi, my name is Ryan and I'm 23. I've had depression since I was about 18 and for almost all of it, I've battled alone. I had about 5 sessions with a therapist about a year ago. But I'm extremely bad about talking about my emotions with people. So I'm trying to turn hear and maybe get some support somehow. I'll tell you about the last five years of my life kinda quickly.
About a month before my 18th bday. I was arrested for retail theft over 300$. Class 3 felony. I went through a first time offender program and got off with no record. Just lost my entire savings to lawyers. This really started my depression. I was a good kid but people really treated me differently after it. I had always had a dream of joining the navy. A simple dream. But it was ruined before my 18th birthday. I dropped out of college three months after this. I was going to kill myself, but I guess I had an angel in the shape of a little dog. Right when I started to dig into my wrist, she came into my room and jumped on my lap.
Then at 22, I had a girl friend I really loved. It was the happiest time of my life. She broke up with me saying," You are literally makeing me feel depressed." This was really hard because I had never been happier. It lead to me wanting to kill my self again. So I went to a therapist and this is when I told my parents I was in need of help.
I decided to start over. Packed up my stuff and moved to Florida because she said I had SAD and I had an opportunity here.
But it hasn't gotten be

Hi,my name is henry...i am dealing with depression without any help,i qant to but i cant think propery on what to so.
@Imbestatbeingme - Hi, Henry. You're trying something just by being here and that means something! I'm sure it took a lot of courage. The very nature of depression causes us to feel so much self-doubt. The first few steps are something like: acknowledging that we aren't well, wanting to feel better, wondering how to feel better, looking for ways to feel better and all that before we start trying whatever we can. It sounds like you are well on your way to finding something that might help you! That's a huge accomplishment. Keep an open mind that help is out there for you and keep looking for it. <3 The depression community is here for you whenever you want to reach out, and you can reach out as many times as you want until you find what you're looking for.

Hi. I'm 37. I've been having what a therapist refers to as "depressive symptoms". (I've been to one session so far, no diagnosis yet, but depression seems probable.). Joined here so that between therapy I can talk things out and discuss feelings and worries instead of letting it go around in my own head and turn into relentless negativity.
@sunnyKitten9491
