...See more "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. A Belated Welcome to May: Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

...See more "Little by little, a little becomes a lot." – Tanzanian Proverb 🌱 Hello everyone, Welcome to newcomers and returning members of the depression support community. Whether you just joined or are coming back after time away, you belong here. 💚 May is Mental Health Awareness Month. First, I want to sincerely apologize for this late post. This month carries such an important message, and it's one worth sharing no matter the date. Even as we move further into the month, the focus remains the same: the courage to keep going, the power of small actions, and the hope that tiny joys can still reach us. This month's prompt: Create a Dopamine Menu 🍏: What is a Dopamine Menu? A Dopamenu is a simple tool to help you boost your mood and motivation. Just like a food menu, it gives you choices. You pick activities based on how much time and energy you have. The goal is to help your brain release dopamine or the "feel-good" chemical, without pressure or perfection. Blank Template : Example of Dopamenu 🍈: How to Use your Dopamine Menu : Step 1: Print or save the blank template. Step 2: Fill in each section with your own ideas. Use the example for inspiration. Step 3: When you feel stuck, pick one thing from your menu. Start with a Starter if you're really low. Step 4: Do it. No pressure to finish. No guilt if you stop early. Step 5: Repeat whenever you need a boost. Feel free to share your Dopamine Menu in the comments! Sending love and light, Angelanj

...See more I know what it feels like to desperately want your mind to be quiet. To want to stop worrying. To want to feel safe. To want to feel hopeful again. This is something that has helped me personally, and I wanted to make it available to others who may need that same moment of stillness. It also comes with a free prayer guide, which has really helped me to take control back..over my thoughts, feelings, emotions, and master my peace. I don’t think many realize how powerful this can be..especially when we realize how much power our words have and actually know how to use them to MAINTAIN peace.  If you’ve been feeling emotionally exhausted lately, maybe this can be one small step towards Release..and a major Reset. https://www.zenofnaturalhealing.com/product-page/declare-decree-reclaim-your-authority-transform-your-life [https://www.zenofnaturalhealing.com/product-page/declare-decree-reclaim-your-authority-transform-your-life]

...See more I am a 20-year-old who still lives at home I can't get a job because I am a full-time older brother which means I watch my siblings while my parents work. I don't want to mooch off my parents I don't want to take advantage of this situation it's kind of weird to say but I want to pay taxes I want to get a loan, and whenever I try talking to my parents about this they say that my mother will have to quit her job if I decide to get one and it makes me feel really crummy to think about because I don't want my success to be another person's downfall but I really want to be an adult or at least act like one I don't know if this made any sense

Je me sens perdu. Je dors mal, mon esprit est agité, mon corps est constamment fatigué et lourd. Je rêve de partir. De fuir cet environnement qui m'étouffe. De m'éloigner d'un endroit où je ne suis jamais comprise, jamais protégée. Je veux me libérer. Me reconstruire. Respirer. Merci de votre lecture. Parfois, écrire est déjà un moyen de survivre.

...See more Sorry this is so long!! (Trigger warnings: briefly mentions death, COVID, self-harm, cancer, & overdose) Hello, I’m 17F, &  homeschooled due to struggles in public school & a fear of COVID - I started in 9th grade. My mom switched schools for me before, but my grades plummeted again so we decided to homeschool. It worked out really well at first, but then I started getting severely depressed. I think childhood trauma, & a possible hormonal imbalance may influence my current mental health. (my “parents” on here are my aunt & uncle, I refer to them as parents so it’s easier to understand & thats who they are to me now. I lost my bio ones due to cancer & an overdose at around 5&6.)   Looking back, I probably did get depression as a younger child, too. From what I remember, I would generally get angry & sad way more easily than a normal child - I would also self harm at around 11 years old, over dumb things. I had trouble focusing, etc..  Nowadays with being depressed, I have activities to do but never get myself to do them, it’s still difficult focusing, I’ll feel useless & lazy, I’ll sleep all day because its a distraction from life, even when I’m going to bed at a normal time. Everytime I get some motivation & start to feel better, things just go down again.  Ive asked my mom for therapy a few times, but she has too much anxiety about it because she thinks people will be suspicious due to me being homeschooled, & her being a legal guardian. Also she’s had a bad experience with my sister in the past, because she got the wrong meds from being misdiagnosed. Recently I went to the doctor due to having POTS symptoms, and they just told me I needed to eat & drink more, & they gave me a heart monitor. I feel like when I come back they’re just going to tell me that if I don’t take care of myself then they can’t take care of me. And I’m worried about that, because I feel like I need to force myself to take care of myself - and I won’t be able to explain to them that I get severe depression, because again, my mom is too scared to get me help. My mom says I can always talk to her but she always says the same things & doesnt understand that what I’m going through is more than likely mental illness; it’s past just the “normal teenage depression” at this point. I also have symptoms of OCD, bipolar, ADHD, & CPTSD. I love my mom & I am so grateful for her, shes done alot for me but she needs to understand that you can’t just let mental illness just sit there - especially when it’s noticeably getting worse.  I also feel bad because I don’t want to put any more stress on my mom. She already gets upset at me when I don’t get my schoolwork done, due to me being very unmotivated because of the depression. She vents abt how my dad is financially abusing her, groomed her, and how shes so stressed out to the point where shes crying - and I won’t even be saying anything. Shes not abusive, but she needs help too. My dad relies on me emotionally due to them going through a divorce & it makes me uncomfortable. He also understands nothing about mental health and hates the idea of psychiatrists so I probably shouldn’t ask him.  My sister said she can help before, but she has alot of physical health problems & I don’t want to put anything on her - and it’s really not easy for her to schedule anything at the moment. I really need to get therapy soon, even if it’s online, but I feel like I have no options. And I don’t want my mom to get in trouble with the government just because she needs help too. This is also why I downloaded 7cups because I heard it has helped people and it’s the closest thing I can get to therapy. If there’s anything that I can do for free that helps on here that would be appreciated. I want to have a future, I want to know what’s going on with me. I have 2 vanilla cards of $100 & im willing to pay using that, if there’s any cheap therapy options (Idk how I would use insurance if my parents dont know). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’m sorry this is so long, but if you read this, thank you so much.

Forgiveness Collage Exercise
by Aditi24
Last post
August 2nd, 2024
...See more Objective: To help clients explore and process their feelings towards someone they need to forgive and facilitate emotional release through creative expression. Materials Needed: * Magazines, newspapers, or printed images * Scissors * Glue sticks * Large sheets of paper or poster boards * Markers, crayons, or colored pencils * Stickers or other decorative elements (optional) Steps: * Introduction: * Begin by discussing the concept of forgiveness with your client. Explain that forgiveness is a process of letting go of resentment, anger, and negative feelings towards someone who has wronged them. Guided Reflection: * Ask the client to take a few minutes to think about the person they need to forgive. Encourage them to reflect on the situation, their feelings, and how holding onto these feelings impacts their well-being. Image Selection: * Provide the client with magazines, newspapers, or printed images. Instruct them to cut out images, words, or phrases that represent their emotions related to the person or situation they must forgive. Collage Creation: * Ask the client to arrange and glue the cut-out images, words, and phrases on a large sheet of paper or poster board. Encourage them to be as expressive as they want, adding drawings, colors, and other decorative elements to enhance their collage. Processing the Collage: * Once the collage is complete, invite the client to share their creation with you. Ask them to describe the images and words they chose and what they represent. Discuss how creating the collage made them feel and if it helped them gain any new insights or perspectives. Affirmation and Closure: * As a final step, ask the client to write an affirmation or a positive statement about their journey towards forgiveness on the collage. This could be something like "I release the past and embrace forgiveness" or "I choose to forgive for my peace." Reflection: * End the session with a reflective discussion on the importance of forgiveness and how the client feels after the exercise. Please encourage them to display the collage somewhere they can see it as a reminder of their commitment to forgive.

...See more Hi everyone! Today, let's spread some positive vibes and explore the art of cheering someone up. 😊 Sometimes, a little act of kindness can brighten someone's day and make a world of difference. Let's dive in and discover some simple ways to bring a smile to someone's face🤍 1️⃣ Listen and empathize: Sometimes, all someone needs is a listening ear. Be there for them, offer a shoulder to lean on, and genuinely understand their feelings. It's amazing how powerful empathy can be in uplifting someone's spirits. 💕 2️⃣ Share a funny moment: Laughter, they say, is the best medicine! Share a funny story or a hilarious meme with your friend. Humor has a magical way of breaking through darkness and bringing back the sunshine. 😄 3️⃣ Surprise them with a small act of kindness: It could be a handwritten note, a small gift, or even their favorite treat. The element of surprise and thoughtfulness can instantly lift someone's mood and make them feel special. 🎁 4️⃣ Encourage them towards self-care: Remind your loved one to take care of themselves. Encourage them to do things they enjoy, indulge in hobbies, or take a walk in nature. Sometimes, a little self-care can go a long way in rejuvenating the mind and soul. 🌿 5️⃣ Be present and supportive: Simply being there for someone can make a huge difference. Offer your support, lend a helping hand, and remind them that they are not alone. Sometimes, knowing that someone cares is all it takes to turn a gloomy day into a brighter one. 🤗 Remember, everyone faces tough times, and lending a helping hand can truly make a significant impact. Let's spread positivity and make the world a happier place, one smile at a time! 😊💫"
