how to forgive bad decisions that been made?
@hopefulencounter
we cannot go back and have a do-over no matter how many times we wish we could. Regret is not only rehashing our past decisions it often does 2 things
1. wastes our present ruminating over past.
2. it can also paralyze us from making decisions in future worried about making a wrong one.
IF there is any way to undo a choice or decision, we can do that if not we need to keep moving as life is a journey being sidelined with regret only is self-destruction.
when we stay stuck thinking about the past, it can take up so much of our energy in the present. And then on top of that, it can make it really hard to move forward because everything starts to feel like it could go wrong.
I’m curious—do you feel like it’s more the overthinking about what already happened, or the fear of making the wrong choice next that’s been harder for you lately?
@AmandaDawn85 it's the overthinking, because i'm scared people will judge me over this bad decision when they know
@hopefulencounter That makes a lot of sense… overthinking usually isn’t just random, it’s tied to something deeper — and in your case it sounds like it’s that fear of how people will see you.
But the hard truth is, people are going to judge no matter what you do. You could make the “right” decision and someone would still have something to say. If you base your choices on avoiding judgment, you’ll always feel stuck.
What matters more is whether the decision makes sense for you, not how it looks to everyone else. Most people are too focused on their own lives to sit and analyze yours the way it feels like they will.
Do you feel like the decision itself is actually wrong… or does it just feel scary because of how others might react?
@AmandaDawn85 i see my decision as a bit wrong, next time i'll never spend money for game again.. i will fight the urge to top up, i know maybe this problem is just so little 😅but i feel so bad after i spent my money that day. and i'm worried my sis will one day know about this and will be upset at me. i learned my lesson, and now i dont wanna spend anymore

I personally struggle with it too. Living in the past and regretting my choices has consumed me. I think advising on how to overcome it is easy, but incorporating it into your real life is not practical. I could give you advice, but I myself haven't implemented it in my life. I feel so useless and dumb all the time. Any judgments from others keep me awake for hours, and that thought engulfes me. I feel like I live for others' validation when I don't want to. But for you, all I wanted to say is maybe realise the fact that there are people out there committing greater mistakes with no remorse, so if I choose to introspect and have felt regretful for my actions, maybe I am not that bad after all.
After all, we always learn something from our deeds.
@azureScarf3796 i relate to that feeling of dumb and useless too.. my sis often say that i'm a lazy person who's unaware of things or something around me, maybe because i think a lot. thanks for replying to my post i really appreciate, and i understand how it's easier to be said than done.
i also agree that there are people who has done worse thing than us, people like that usually can just go on without overthinking 😅

I'll share something my grandmother used to say. That guilt and shame are wasted emotions.
They only really serve their purpose immediately following an action or decision that we regret. Everything after that only hurts yourself, and does nothing to help the person, people, or thing that you hurt in the first place.
There's a time and a place for emotions like this, and I think there's also a time and a place to let them go.
Good luck, stay strong, love is all.
Regret usually sticks because you keep trying to undo something that’s already done. There’s nothing to fix there anymore.
At some point it shifts from “why did I do that” to “that’s something I did.”
Doesn’t feel great, but it gets quieter.
