What motivates you? Is it the promise of a reward, the threatening that you'll be punished if you don't do so-and-so, or the fact that you genuinely enjoy what you're doing? @windflowers it depends! Some things I do because I'm genuinely excited to do them, and other things are out of fear of punishment or consequences that outweigh the costs of actually Doing The Thing :P I like the ones I do out of excitement better, hehe!

I'm motivated really quickly, and just by the fact that I enjoy what I do! It helps me to get through some of the things I don't so much like to do

I am motivated by my long term and short term goals. If I'm not feeling motivated in a given moment I ask myself how it'll effect me long term and if it'll interfere or help me achieve my long term goals.

Yes, yes, yes to everything you wrote! That's exactly the same thing I do!
However, sometimes I get un-motivated easier and quicker with long-term goals. I have issues and struggles with focus (which I am trying to improve), so something that helps is looking at my list of goals that I want to achieve, imagining how proud I will be of myself when I achieve them, how happy I'll be that I stuck it out. I use rewards for achieving very difficult goals to help motivate me. I also think of a quote I read some time back, I don't remember how it went exactly but it said something like, your future self has already finished all of these things, they're already done with this assignment/test/plan already, so there's a bridge between you and that future self, and that bridge is just a matter of when. It's just a matter of when you will do these things, because your future self is already on the other side. So you just have to sit down and do it.
