Let's talk Resilience! 🥰
Talk about a time in your life where you've had to be resilient and what lessons you have learnt from it?

@Amanda84
I had to be resilient when I had to learn how to walk again.
All my plans were changed over night.
How I saw my life.
It was a long process.
Painful
Lonely.
Isolating.
I missed out on do much school, do it was hard to go back and fit into friendship groups.
But it taught me resilience.
Patience.
It gave me grit.
Determination.
Gratitude.
It gave me coping tools that I still use to this day.
It made me stronger.

Hug u soo Tight, Amanda ❤️
I’m truly sorry that you had to go through something like that. At the same time, I find it deeply inspiring how you came through it and who you’ve become now. I’ve always admired your presence, and I’m grateful that you exist ❤️🤗
As for me, there are many parts of my life that I walked through alone, in isolation.
My teenage years were the hardest. I was completely alone. No friends, no one to talk to, no one to sit beside me, not even my parents. the best part is that they still have no idea what thier kid gone through n going through:) I didn’t even know how to comfort myself or make sense of what I was feeling. There were days I stayed in my room for hours, crying without understanding why the pain felt so heavy inside my chest. indescribable pain - traumatic.
There were moments when I begged people to stay in my life. I craved love and care so deeply. I remember looking around and seeing no one, and I would pray to Allah, saying:
I don’t care if they love me or hate… I just want someone’s presence beside me rn. Even if they don’t want to be there, I just want to feel some presence that I’m not alone.
( there's so much incidence to mention but those are dark n creepy parts of mine which i never want to share in my lifetime )
But, now when I look back, I don’t know how I survived those days. I truly don’t. Sometimes I’m amazed at myself. That isolation, which once felt like punishment, became my greatest teacher. It shaped me into who I am today. It gave me a depth of understanding, a kind of wisdom that only solitude can give.
I learned not to depend on anyone for my peace. I became someone who can say: if you stay, it’s okay. If you leave, that’s okay too. I learned to set boundaries, no matter how emotionally attached I am. If someone walks away, I no longer carry that pain as my own.
Those lonely years made me more resilient than I ever realized. They taught me to understand life at a deeper level.
And one thing I’m proud of is this: I carry more love than hatred. I am not angry at anyone. I choose forgiveness. I choose to love people deeply, even after everything ❤️.
Thanks for sharing ur n coming up with beautiful n thoughtful Post 💕, i love it wayy much 🤗.

My heart breaks at the thought of you being so sad, so isolated and so alone.
I'm proud of you for coming so far.
And for still opening up.
You've a heart of gold, your presence is not small here, it's bright, it's bubbly, it's honest, it's so compassionate, for someone to suffer as you did and still care, shows just how precious you are and if no one ever told you this, I'm telling you now 💚

@Amanda84 amazing story Amanda 84. I didn’t know this about you. I had to be resilient when moving to a new community several times over, but haven’t the experiences you have.
@Amanda84
Reading your passage of recovery and resilience from having to learn how to walk again reminds me that we are all one accident away from being disabled. I was also reflecting upon the fact that recovery from a physical injury or operation also requires much mental resolve.
And the mental landscape and coping mechanisms we may develop make us more able to help others who might be navigating similar or parallel terrain. I am quite sure that your resilience in getting through the recovery process has helped you to help others, because you have the empathy to truly understand what another person might be going through. Catastrophic or very sudden changes, where your plans were changed overnight require major adjustments to the mental landscape. There is always “before” and “after.”
I think a person who has been through something like you have, also perhaps develops some sense of humor about it, once you have processed it, or even during recovery, since it does force one to discover maybe what is essential about the self. The self that I used to call s’elf, because of the Elf inside of each of us that is actually free from the body, that is the soul that is ageless, timeless, beautiful beyond measure, and pure love.
The event that is testing my resilience at present is a friend dying suddenly in an awful way. I suppose I should start getting used to people “dropping like flies,” but every time, it comes as a shock.
I feel like I'm always having to be resilient. There have been an abundance of traumas and experiences that have affected me.
Let's take moving out of home and not knowing anything about what I had to do and buy and set up and it being totally overwhelming.
I learned I'm not superwoman, I can't do it all. It's ok to ask for assistance. It's fine not to have all the answers and that eventually it all gets done, I just needed patience and to cut myself a break.

I feel u....(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ

@Amanda84
I had to be resilient when my sister passed away.
There was so much that went into that. so many feelings.
Seeing her. Memorial setup. Answering questions. Numerous phone calls.
Her kids.
Other opinions. Ignorance.
Maintaining my own life and home, going back to work, when I just wanted to curl in a ball and cry.
I’m glad I have videos and photos of her. I get to hear her amazing laugh and still see her smile.
I hold her in my heart now 💜
I was lucky enough to find a dog after she passed away. She supported me a lot and would bring me toys when I cried. My sister loved dogs. There was a book someone gave me after my surgery about dogs, in the first chapter was a story about a woman with her name ❤️
When I was going through everything, I thought mom should be doing this. But, when I look back, our relationship is so broken with her, that I don’t think my sister would’ve wanted it any other way and I’m honored 😇
This was a big moment in my life that I realized I put others first before myself. I waited until no one needed me and then I let it all out.
I miss her everyday. Holidays are tough. Grief comes in waves. But, I move forward trying to hold onto her bad azz energy with me. 💜💜💜
@peachThinker662
Thank you for sharing.
Your sister sounds like a beautiful person.
And you did her proud then.
And you are continuing to do her proud now
Because you are a beautiful person.
I know how hard it is, someone beautiful and special leaves us without warning and the pain is crippling and we just cannot face the day.
From somewhere deep inside, we find a resilience we didn't know we needed or had and we continue through day by day.
💚

@Amanda84
In my early twenties I was training and racing on a semi-professional basis with a cycling team in France when i started to suffer with insidious lower back pain and after seeing my form dip markedly as I wasn't able to endure the training required I had t give up on my dream. In my defence it was proven to be down to hereditary arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis. I had been able to earn enough in a short period of time to pay my way through university and continued competing in the sport on a local level. I used the experience and knowledge I accrued to qualify as a cycling coach and spent 20 very rewarding years as a local club coach on a voluntary basis.
The biggest lesson for me that was that keeping as mobile and physically fit as I could helped in limiting the ravages of arthritis and the resolve and determination has later paid dividends in recovering from both of my pulmonary embolisms.
I have been feeling stuck, but I'll fight my way through this battle too in time 😉
@RunningMachine
thank you for this. When things are posted on here it can help a person reading it too ❤️❤️
this brought some tears to my Eyes. I had to have ACDF surgery this past year. It was so frightening and then limitations following.
To hear your resilience gives me hope.
And to exercise because you love your body, not because you hate the way it looks 🫶🏻
You’re amazing

@peachThinker662
I just loved the sport more than anything, and it was awesome seeing others develop especially the juvenile and juniors.
@RunningMachine
I admire your grit, your determination and despite not having your dreams realized, you used your skills to assist others, that's an admirable feat 🤗💚
@Amanda84
i don’t know if I’d call it resilience or just putting up walls??
through my teen years, I was bullied, mid-school right up till the end of high school. Because of that I trust very few and have but a couple of friends. The one person I trusted the most with my inner secrets, I had to walk away from because she could not handle the truth.
I am glad though that I found 7 Cups and over time YOU. You have been my saviour (felt strange to use that word, you know why🤭)

@QuietByNature
“setting boundaries”? ❤️
You sound like you know your self worth and that shows some self love.
I’m proud of you.

@peachThinker662
Thank you so much 😊 🤗🤗
@QuietByNature
You make a valid point!
What's the difference between putting up walks and resilience.
The resilience comes after building the walls.
It comes from continuing on.
You suffered so much and yet you became a great husband and father, an awesome grandfather, you've supported them and build up a life and security for them all.
And you've been a light to me here.
I'm so glad that I provided that for you 💚

@Amanda84
Being ejected from a vehicle 90 feet, 6 surgeries in 7 days, on the 9th day doctor gave me 2 options. Walk down a hallway and back (with a walker) I leave today, or don't and stay maybe another week. I pushed myself. Made the walk was out later that day.
@Amanda84 I lost someone close to my heart last year.
Someone who taught me how to speak, how to be confident, and how to truly be myself.
When I first moved from countryside to the city as a teenager, I was too scared to even speak Urdu. She was the one who built the confidence I stand on today. From speaking basic Urdu to now being able to even write poetry in it, she shaped a big part of my life.
Maybe I was being resilient when I kept going after losing her. Or maybe I never lost her at all... because every time I speak, try, or work hard, I carry her lessons with me.
I’ve learned that when we lose someone, we don’t truly lose them. We carry them within us... in our actions, our words, and in every single day we live.
@MeilleureAmie
I truly believe we carry their spirit, their passion, their love, their energy with us. She sounds like a special person and she would be looking down on you today with pride, I don't doubt that at all 💚🤗
@MeilleureAmie
Wow, I had been through something similar like that...!! i truly feel u. n I'm sry to hear to go through something like that 😕..!! n I'm so proud of u - you stíll moving forward, that's so much of u 💝.

@Ailuraphilelove8tear9 I'm proud of you too, Ailura... for the strength and resilience you show everyday✨

@Amanda84
that I need a break but a proper break that doesn't involve toxic escapisim that can also just be something like music that makes escape in fantasy land instead of grounding you, maybe the right kind of music, the more nature grounding type of music to give your brain a break. I watch mindful video with teachers I like so much and just listen to their teachings that is helping or a do something nice and answer posts on the site.
@The24hrClimber
I hear you, sometimes we need a top up to recharge our battery and toxic positivity ultimately doesn't help because if we don't work through how we honestly feel, it only resurfaces at a later day in a unhealthy way 💚
