The 'One Small Step' Weekly Challenge: What's Your Goal?
Do you ever feel like your goals and responsibilities for the week are a single, giant, tangled knot? It looks like a hopeless mess, and pulling on the wrong thread can feel like it makes everything even tighter.
But you can't untangle a knot all at once. The only way to do it is to gently find one loose end and work on that one small section. As you loosen that first part, the next part becomes easier to see and work with.
Instead of yanking at the whole mess, we're going to find one loose thread i.e. one small, actionable step. By focusing on that one thing, we can begin to gently untangle the week ahead, creating a sense of calm and control.
Positive routines are built on a foundation of small, consistent actions. When you complete one tiny task, you create momentum that can carry you through the entire day, and even the week. It’s about proving to yourself, one step at a time, that you can do it.
What is your small step for the week? There is no goal too small. It starts with simply committing to doing something that progresses your life. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
"Tidy my nightstand."
"Drink one extra glass of water each day."
"Schedule that appointment I've been putting off."
"Go for one 10-minute walk outside."
"Send a text to a friend I haven't spoken to in a while."
"Spend 15 minutes organizing my computer desktop."
And here's where the accountability piece comes into play!
Every Friday, we will meet in the Wellness Accountability room, where everyone will share their progress, celebrate their efforts (no matter the outcome!), and head into the weekend feeling accomplished.
Tell us your goal in the replies and meet me this Friday at 4PM EST!
Together, we can be productive, one step at a time!

This is presently an adults-only initiative. Teenies are encouraged to take part in Mindful Minutes, one of our longest running teen centric positivity and motivation initiatives! Read about it here. 🥰
@Heather225 Seeing this post came at the perfect time. I have been self caring this month and I have had a lot of thoughts flooding my mind. Sunday night I got a wild hair to declutter my life-- beginning in the bedroom. Just yesterday, I went and rented out a storage so I can store all the things that has just been sitting and taking up space. My goal is to just focus on this room for now and I have been hard at work. Literally, I'm taking it slowly and starting on one area and then the next. Today I got half the floor cleaned up and all (but one drawer) emptied out. I even got boxes of memories labeled and stored. You'd think I'm moving out... but in reality, I'm just storing all my hoarding things that I have not used. I feel like doing this will get me on the right track so I can stop thinking... that's all I want to do. 😂
@YourCaringConfidant
Now that's deep self-care! It's amazing how taking control of our physical space can help quiet the noise in our minds. Your methodical approach of focusing on one area at a time is so smart and sustainable, and you've already made incredible progress. Renting the storage unit was a decisive step, and getting those memory boxes labeled is a huge accomplishment in itself. I'll definitely be checking in on you, if you can't make the Friday session but I am rooting you on meanwhile! <3
@Heather225 Thank you so much for this, H! ♡ It means so much to me! 😀 Xoxo.
@Heather225
My action step is to light a candle each day. I love them, I've got a.bunch of them, and I feel like I should save them, which is ridiculous! I can get more!
@SkillfullMeans This is a great and I'm proud of you! I can definitely relate... I used to have a Bath & Body Works and Yankee Candle candle addiction a long time ago and can relate to not burning certain ones. I ended up donating them all bit kept one that I still won't burn to this day. 😂 I love the mond set that you have! You can always buy more candles, so good for you for burning and enjoying your smell good candles! 😀
@YourCaringConfidant
"I used to have a Bath & Body Works and Yankee candle addiction."
Yes!!!!! That's the two places. I am addicted to getting more of them. I go thrift shopping almost everyday (to be out in the community and moving) and I nearly run to the candle section! My pulse increases. I feel giddy if I find one. 😳. There was a 75 percent off sale at bath and bodywork now I am on the email list again! I am cheap though.
That is so funny you did the same thing. They smell good even when not burning.
I have one lit now. I remembered our challenge. Hope your challenge goes well!
@SkillfullMeans Omg! I so resonate with you! My past shopping addictions I had are because of my mental health, but I do like to think I've outgrown some of that. The funny thing is I love pretty things, girly things, smell good things, crafty things, etc but I'm frugal too! Nothing like a good deal and getting more for less! Hey, today's a beautiful day and you got the candle burning. You've kept your word and taking your small steps. That alone is a big deal. I'm proud of you. ❤️ Have a beautiful day!
@YourCaringConfidant
You got it! That's why I stay at thrift shops, no more than ten a day.!
I have been a mimilist and got this urge to decorate my room all girly. Kind of cool, the rest of the house is really zen simple, relaxing. My room is getting filled with fairy lights, day of the dead for Halloween, unicorns, those corny sayings, keep breathing ect. I k ow I am.old I got plastic flowers that I think are lovely!
Take care!
I used to have the same issue my wife probably thinks I still do!!! It's very challenging you want to light them but you also want to save them, what do you do!!?
@Heather225
I agree completely.
As a carer for my parents, I can't look at all I have to do, medications, pharmacy trips, doctors appointments, hospital appointments, cleaning, cooking, washing, laundry, bill paying, form filling, because it becomes relentless and monotous and leaves you resentful .
I break it into small tasks.
It becomes less overwhelming.
Less intense.
I make bedtime, about sleep, listening yo music, and not worrying about the next day.
I incorporate some things I like into my day to keep me smiling and I remind myself, I'm doing it because I love them and they are my world 💜💕
@Amanda84 Your folks are so blessed to have you as their child. I love how you speak about them and love them. May you always be blessed, Amanda! ❤️ Bless your parents too! Just beautiful!
PS: Don't forget to make time caring for yourself too when you can. Caregiver role is not always an easy task, so I applaud you.
@YourCaringConfidant
Thank you for your kind words 💜
@Amanda84
Whew! that's alot to say the least! I did that with my dad for three years, before he died. what a haul. Glad I did it though. It left my brother and sis free to raise their families.
Thank goodness you have seven cups! I watched alot of Netflix, waiting for the next thing that needed to be taken care of 💜
@SkillfullMeans
May your dad rest in precious peace, he was lucky to have you 💜
Use my headspace app at least once a day to stop myself from becoming completely and totally overwhelmed and consumed by the stress I'm dealing with as the executor of my aunt's estate
@K87
that does sound awfully stressful. hopefully through this thread and initiativeive we can help you stay on top of using the app!
Hopefully, because it's not going to get any less stressful anytime soon
@Heather225
Do very light exercising as I'm recovering from broken toes and an injured knee. Just very light movements.
@purpleTree4652
I hope you heal and feel better soon 🥰💜
@purpleTree4652 Ohhhh no 🟣🌳! Good for you for realizing the importance of still using your body. Take it easy and I hope you heal soon! Hugs! 🤗
@Heather225
My goal For this week is to just make it to the end.
@Clio9876 ❤️

@Heather225 My goal is to do the grounding exercise every night before sleep.
I have been seeing dreams in most of the nights lately, they're not necessarily bad dreams but they drain me. when i wake up i'm so exhausted and tired.
Grounding exercise helped me in the past but the habit was forgotten when I started to have good sleep.
@chillmoon
that's great that grounding does work! here's to us helping you build this back into a nightly habit <3
@Heather225 💖💖
@Heather225
What is your small step for the week?
for us due to our disabilities physically we break things down into steps a lot as this yes helps get things done this week it cleaning more in living room and sorting the stuff out as in what needs to go and what we really need to keep we last week worked in bedroom still have more to do in there too but we just take it one small task at a time so this week we have many small task to do but breaking them down and rewarding self when we get them done helps too
