Announcement: Room Supporters Challenge
Hello Room Supporters Team, I hope you are all doing well.
I invite you all to take this challenge. As you might know in the last month, chatroom moderators participated in a challenge, and the participants who participated enjoyed learning the communication style of their fellow moderator and how the room environment changes with the change in your communication approach.
That's why I invite you all to participate in this challenge and learn about your communication style and other leaders.
Here is the Communication Style Matrix
- Take a look at the communication styles as shown in the image above. Which four of the styles fit your communication style best? Let us know that in the comments below!
- Find a room supporter or chat room moderator to partner up with to participate as Batman and Robin and foster healthy conversation in the chat rooms for half an hour at least 6 times in a two-week span.
- Observe and take notes on the communication approach of your partner and your partner will be doing the same for you. (Please note that communication styles and approaches can and will vary and that’s alright!)
- Share and compare your notes with fellow room supporters or chatroom mods to learn about each others’ communication styles. Also, share the vibe of the room you both were supporting to share in this thread. The vibe of the room here means how was the room environment at the start of joining and when you left. You could share it on a scale of 1-10 where 1 would be “Meh” and 10 as “Awesome”.
Your activity partner can be:
- A room supporter
- A community-centered chat room moderator
- A global moderator
- A community Moderator on shift
To complete the challenge of interacting and observing your and other's communication style in the rooms at least six times in a two-week span, your activity partner can be different if the same partner can’t be present. If you have more than one partner, you will simply take notes of different room supporters/ mod' communication styles and approaches and share them with them and fellow room supporters in this thread. For the idea of how to log your observation in this thread, please check here how moderators did.
Every time you complete one session, drop it in the comments of this thread to log your active participation.
The goal of this challenge:
- Identify your own communication approach in the group dynamics and how it changed/evolved as the situation in the room changed.
- Identify how having a partner with you changed/ helped to foster a supportive and compassionate environment in the chatroom.
- What were the challenges? What surprised you? What type of communication approach works best for you?

This is interesting. My timezone is SGT (12 hours ahead of EST) if anyone is interested in partnering. I'm on cups from 9-10:30am everyday

Hello team, I hope you are all doing well. I appreciate all the participants in this challenge and how you all are learning about each other communication and room environment. This is the follow-up post for the Room Supporter Challenge and where everyone stands in the challenge so far in terms of messages sent. This is to remind all of us that just two more weeks left to complete this challenge as the next month, there will be a new challenge waiting for all. 
Challenge is still open for all room supporters! Please participate and learn about each other's communication style as a team.
I appreciate you all for your contributions to keep the room safe and compassionate for all.

Hey, I have a huge assignment I've been working on so I've not been as active recently, but I am hoping to submit it soon, then I'll be free!
