Does an apple a day really keep the doctor away?
If we were all convinced that eating an apple a day was enough to guarantee us a strong health, I think we would do it all.
Except if the doctor is cute.
However the apple, alone, is not sufficient to reduce the risk of getting sick.
This saying has really needs to be qualified.
Begin by understanding where have this sentence cliché. The saying is originated from wales. at that time it was suggesting that eating an apple before to go to be could prevent the doctor from earning his daily bread. But over time the proverb would have undergone some changes, for reaching, in 1922, the version we know today.
Although an apple does not have a miraculous property, it's still a fruit full of good components.
a medium apple may thus provide 10% of daily needs in fibers of a woman. Apple also contain pectin, vitamin C, as well as antioxidant phyto-nutrients flavonoids and polyphenolics (quercetin, epicatechin, and procyanidin B2...) and B-complex vitamins (such as riboflavin, thiamin, and pyridoxine). Choose to eat an apple could then improve your intestinal health, boost your immune system and reduce your levels of bad cholesterol. You may also improve your oral health and the risk of developing dental caries.
Its low cost, wide availability and portability are other reasons why we could have this fruit in the heart of his claims. When you think about it, it is much easier to transport an apple with us in our daily activities than carrying a watermelon or mango for example.
Finally according to a recent meta-analysis including 41 studies conducted throughout worldwide, it seems that eating apples may also reduce the risk of occurrence of all types of cancer. Also worth mentioning is that people tend to eat apples have a better lifestyle in general, a factor that could somewhat affect the conclusions.
Basically, even if it is not to be taken literally, this saying is partly true. The apple or any other fruit serving consumed daily will undoubtedly have a beneficial effect on your health. Fruits in general are good at incorporated into your diet. And when apples are in season, they are for sure an ideal choice.
Well of course you're not supposed to take the saying seriously.
Especially nowadays when apples have the most pesticides sprayed on them. And I can sympathize, apple trees have a ton of pests and diseases that target them. Very difficult to grow.
