@PoliteOcean I had a few days where I didn't eat so well D:

Also, it's hard to work out in my dorm because of lack of space :(

@Mellietronx

Hey Melli... no need to be too hard on yourself about not eating as well as you would have liked. It was the holiday season, and most of us no matter how hard we may try, are bound to give into some tempations during this time of year especially. Just remember that each day is a new day to start over in your choices.

Also, regarding your dorm, do you have any where else or another space there where you could workout? Like an extra room? A extra office space,etc?.. Not sure how your dorm is set up, some are different from others. If your dorm is all you got, could you try something different or something new that doesn't take up alot of space doing? Like Stretches, Yoga, "The 5 minute WALK IN PLACE" video here in the Sub-community! Or anyone of the 5 minute videos where you could adapt on space (Like the chair routines, or using dumbells and doing weight sessions instead)? Perhaps these will give you some options to at least keep moving when you are BOTH short on "space" and time!

@PoliteOcean Thank You!

There aren't many private spots in where I live to do any exercise. I only have a small space on my floor. Maybe after my roommate cleans I will have room to do things ;)

Trying to get back into exercising after taking the break to recover has been hard. I'm really further back than I thought I would be. It wasn't just my expectations either, my PT was hoping I would say no - these weights or this band is too easy. For everything I was at the lowest range that she suggested. I thought I was doing a good job of at least paying attention to my body while doing it. I felt horrible that night and the next day. No attacks at least (or maybe a minor one that I didn't treat) but I was getting close. Days later I still have sore spots. Energy is low.

Im pretty much discusting... I have always battled with my weight but at one point with excersize ( and i'll admit diet meds that i took for too long) i lost alot of weight, I actually passed out the one day and when i went to the doc i didn't even want to get on the scale I was in tears, I was at a weight that he said I shouldn't go below.

But as the years have past and thingshave happened I've lost passion and willpower for most things and I found the depression saps everyrhing from me, i comfort eat, I don't think I need to elaborate any more. on that one.

I just want to feel normal....

So if you don't mind me taking tips from the conversations without too much pressure but encouragement as my weight is a huge, excuse the pun none intended, issue for me, i think im abit at the end of my pressure point Id really appreciate it and your guys help. Xx thanks

@Avaray

Hang in there Avaray. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Most of us here have all had our "Highs and lows" with trying to be healthy, live healthy or maintain a healthier lifestyle. As thats what it is... a "Lifestyle". It takes time... start slow, take small steps...If you start to fast, or too big then everythin seems to be over-whelming. Start off with "small" goals. Feel free to look through the "Welcome Link" at the top of the front of the Community page. Check out the community and familiarize yourself with things. Find what suggestions or threads work for you....and take it from there. We are all here for you and to help support you.

Hey there, Avaray. First of all, hugs! Thank you for reaching out to all of us. Losing weight can definitely be challenging, especially when you have a lot to lose. It might be helpful, not to think about it in terms of losing the weight or going on a diet but about changing your life style and adapting a new way of life. Do one thing at a time. Swap unhealthy foods with healthy foods. Go for walks around your neighborhood. Drink water with your meals. Eat smaller balanced meals rather than larger three ones in a day. Do not deprive yourself. Be easy on yourself. This is not easy but it is not impossible. You can do it. And we're all here to encourage you further. You got this and it is possible. You can do it. I believe in you.

@Avaray, I struggle with weight, too. I've been just focusing on making better choices and logging what I eat onto MyFitnessPal. I do some exercise, but nothing too strenuous. Just doing that, I've seen my weight go down, and I wasn't even concentrating on weight. So maybe don't put so much pressure on yourself to lose weight. Like others have said, just take it one little step at a time. I make myself small goals that are past what I currently do, but will be reasonably attainable in the short term. So I started with just logging food. That's all. Then I started being *aware* of calories. Then working on staying under the recommended calories. Then making those choices healthier. This, of course, took me several months. Take it as quickly or as slowly as is appropriate for *you*. We're here to support you. We're all working on getting healthier. Take what you're ready for, and don't worry about the rest right now. It's important not to let yourself feel overwhelmed or make unrealisitic goals and expectations. We love to celebrate successes...large, small, or in between. So let us know what's going on...when you want to celebrate and when you need support and encouragement. And you can do the same for us, too. There's strength in community!

The beginning of this year has been good and bad for me in terms of health!

My partner was sick with the flu on New Year's Eve, which resulted in me getting the flu for the first 2 days of the new year. I did almost none of my good healthy things for the first 4 days of the year. I focused on drinking lots of water, eating what I could, and getting better. The next few days after that I just couldn't get back in the groove -- and the 8 inches of snow didn't help either!

But! The last 3 days I have met my step goals, met my water goals, eaten mostly healthy, and gone to the gym!

I had a bad start to the new year, but I am getting into my groove now!

@DancingAlong, good for you for getting back into the groove! Things often get off kilter around the holidays and the end of the year.

I've been keeping up with my running which is good. I recently signed up for another half marathon, but I'm also making sure that I get the rest and recovery that I need whenever I feel it is necessary. I've also returned to eating fruits and vegetables (which is easier when I am home from school).

I do think that I could do a better job of maintaining a normal schedule, though. While I have been getting more sleep lately, it can't be very healthy to go to sleep past 3 in the morning! What can I say, it's the holidays!

Things are going great for me so far in terms of exercising this year. I am enjoying skating, a walking dvd which I've had for awhile, and am still using, and dance. I also love to be outdoors and walk amidst nature.

This week was thankfully much better than last. We pretty much backed off my arms - just did a few minimal exercises at the lightest level and they were still a bit sore. I'm hoping some of it is just time to rest and recover and not that I actually lost all of the strength I gained over 6 months. I guess it's just wait and see what will happen over the next few weeks.

Legs are much better. The areas where I am strong lost a little bit - I have to back off on reps in the areas that I'm strong. I'm happy to see that the areas I'm the weakest at didn't really get set back at all, it's taken me so long to get an incremental change - ie. I can actually do the number of reps suggested when I first started, no increase in resistence so being set back on that would have been pretty disappointing.
