**This past week was just completely crazy for me...I started off the week Monday teaching my First two Zumba classes of the week in the morning and then in the afternoon. At the end of the Afternoon class, I injured my leg. Which pretty much side-lined me the rest of this past week. So I had to cancel the entire week of my other classes. And the icing on the cake was a dental procedure that I had to get done. The whole week was pretty much spent trying to rest and recouperate as I really wasn't able to do what I normally do or move how I wanted to. So any real activity or workouts were out.
**The weather is still really beautiful and mild here. But I was a little "moody" since I really couldn't get out to workout, walk or enjoy it much the way I wanted. However.... I was actually able to get my dog out at least. My hubby and I would take him to the local park each day. (Even if I had to "hobble" while I walked). It gave me and the dog a chance to get out, and the hubby to assist us both~
While at the park, I stumbled upon another instructor giving "Outdoor Fitness Classes" (Pilates)... Not normally my cup of tea, but her class looked extremely challenging and fun!.... And hoping maybe I could actually take part and join in with them next week?
**So far, as of now, things are improving and will just have to wait it out. Prayerfully I will be able to proceed as usual next week. Or at the very least by Mid-week. With Monday being a "Holiday" of sorts, I will play everything by ear. Today I just plan to continue to take a rest day, rest up, and not do much as it will be raining anyway.~ Maybe a Scary Movie Marathon for the day!~
@PoliteOcean
I hope your leg gets all better quickly! Take good care of yourself and enjoy the weekend x
Wow we’re already the 10th of October ? I feel that the past two weeks have just been fast-forwarded or something, I really didn’t see the time pass and as a result I’ve been extra late on everything! I feel like I’ve been running against time and clearly I haven’t won the race! Thankfully as it’s the weekend I can finally catch up a bit, I cleaned my place and did the laundry, I’ll finally make myself real food and hopefully catch up a bit on work and on 7cups duties (at least that’s the goal!)
I haven’t been able to work out at all this week, it’s really been busy and draining. I’ve started working with a person who is already badly getting on my nerves (and I’m very calm) and also making it impossible for me to multitask (on purpose) despite having the time to do other things on parallel. I’m supposed to be working with her for the next couples of weeks and it looks like I will have to put everything else on hold during this time to satisfy her, and also to stay extra calm and be careful of my every word so that things go smoothly...
On a more positive note, we went out in a small group of people from the lab and it was really nice! Also I’ve said it multiples times already but I’m hoping to get back to drawing this weekend, although I’m really not sure I’ll have time for it as I have so much work to catch up…
@LinearWaves
Hey Waves! Yes I feel the same way.. I can't believe we are already well into October. Doesn't seem real to an extent. And yes agree that time seems to be going faster than we have to catch up with it.
Sounds like you've got a lot going on recently and hopefully you will have and find the time to catch up with it all! At least you were able to get things tidy, do laundry and make yourself a real meal. So sounds like you are off to a great start so far. I'm sure 7cups duties will eventually fall back in line as well.
How challenging for you to be working with someone who's not benefiting you or your own efforts. And plainly getting on your nerves. Seems like a couple of weeks is a few weeks too long!?!...I'm sure that with the person that you are, that you will do the best that you are able to do, and that things will come together despite your feelings of them. Because thats just how great of a person you are. And that time will seem like nothing and be up sooner than you realize. Hang in there and hopefully your "own" work will continue to be productive during this time.
How nice that you were able to get out and about and enjoy time with friends. Seems like its long over-due for many. Hopefully for you, time will also find and allow you to get back to your drawing as well as continuing to catch up on things needed done! Thanks for checking in this week and continuing to keep us up to date on how you are doing and how things are going for you!

@PoliteOcean Since I no longer have a caretaker, I didn't go out this week. Fortunately, I still had enough food so I could continue to cook my own lunches, which is important to me. Monday I had a psychological counseling appointment. I forgot to charge my Smart phone, so I was worried about it cutting off during the appointment, but fortunately that didn't happen. Friday I had a telephone appointment with my homeopath. It went well, but I had to repeat some of the things I had already spoken about with my psychologist. I made my first Russian dish called "Kotleti". It turned out really well, mostly because of the salt. I'm supposed to be on a low-salt diet but as long as my condition improves, I'm not going to worry about it. One bad habit I have is a drink 10 cups of coffee per day. I'm in so much pain, it's the only way I can function. Once I get serious pain reduction, then I'll be able to cut down on the coffee. I studied the bond market, and how bonds are priced. I'm still waiting for my stimulus check. I should be getting my "prescription" or what they call a "remedy" from my homeopath late next week. Once I get nightmare reduction, hopefully I will start feeling better. I started a series on Zephaniah, Haggai and Malachi.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo! Sorry to hear that you weren't able to get out and about this week. I know its because of the situation with your most recent caregiver. And I do hope that situation changes for you sooner rather than later. Its so good to hear that you still had some food available to you to continue to make your own lunches for the time being. I know that being able to eat healthy and nutritious food (as well as good food) is very important to you. And simply important and beneficial to you "Overall". Its great for you that you were able to make all of your appointments this past week. I can relate in your feelings in having to 'repeat' some of the same things in nature when you have to deal with many appointments so close together. How cool for you that you are exploring and making new things. A russian dish sounds really amazing. Its great that you enjoyed it. Perhaps as far as the 10 cups of coffee, maybe at some point when you are able to, you could try to decrease it by "one" cup a day? Maybe you could set a small goal for yourself to do that and see how it goes. I would like to know more about bonds myself. I have a few. Sorry to hear that you still haven't received your stimulus check yet. Thats crazy that you are still waiting on it to come. Hopefully it will be there soon. Have you been able to check on it and follow up? Hopefully they will give you a timeframe on when it will be sent if you go on the website. Thats good that you wil be a getting a prescription that can hopefully help benefit you and the way you currently feel! Let us know how that all goes for you and keep us updated. Thanks so much for checking in this week and continuing to let us know how you are doing and feeling.
@PoliteOcean
Hope you feel better soon!
Now's a chance to try some of those exercise video links you have from my Healthy Living threads.
As a reminder, there is sitting Tai Chi stretching and relaxing breathing, several Chair/Seated Cardio videos (at least 3), Chair/Seated Bollywood (my favorite and a great arm workout to the Pretty Woman song Bollywood style).
Plus you can always do almost all of the other exercise videos while seated. Just sit and only do the arm movements. It's actually a fun way to learn the more complicated moves, like for the BollyX Bollywood video.
Hope that helps fill the time.
@7motivation
Hey there! Thank you so much for the kind words!.. And yes you are absolutely right!!.. I could surely do those. I guess I just was so disappointed in what happened that I let other things and my feelings get in the way this week with everything going on. lol...
Those videos would surely come in handy and I will check some of them out today! The Tai Chai one I might go for first as I could probably use the peace and calmness of it first!
And yes, I could also absolutely do the arm movements for any of the others! Including the dance videos! You're right, it will continue to help fill the time and continue to keep me active.
Hey everyone! I'm so glad to be here with everyone as a new member of 7Cups and a new member of the Healthy Living Forum/Community. I hope that everyone is doing well this week and today!
Today, October 10th, 2020; I am doing okay. Physically doing amazing, thankfully. I'm grateful! Mentally I've been better, but I've been way worse as well -- so that's ok! Everyone has bad days, mediocre days, amazing days, and all different types of days, therefore I'm not complaining. :)
Overall, I am taking care of myself by taking my healthy supplements, resting & being active today/tonight, moving as I like, eating a healthy diet, and taking care of my mental health. So all in all -- I'm actually doing pretty darn good!!
Now: How are YOU doing? I wanna hear from you guys!! Let me know how you're doing today/tonight, how you did this week, and introduce yourself to me :) I'd love to get to know my new forum buddies! <3
Peace, Love, & Care being sent your way <3 :)

**Hey Everyone~How Have you been doing?
Pretty well overall, knee-deep in schoolwork which doesn't always feel like work for once.
**How has the First week of OCTOBER gone for you? What's the BEST thing that happened for you this week?
Best thing that happened was a class I had Wednesday, it just went well and felt light. I was planning to watch a horror movie every day this month but school kinda derailed that. I'm catching up as best I can though!
**What are some "Healthy Habits" that you've been working on or creating foryourself? What would you like to take the time to focus on? What habits can you work on or re-inforce to help meet your goals for the month ahead?
Decluttering! Decluttering and reorganizing have been the main healthy habits. I've cooked a little for myself which feels like a recovery victory at a time where I usually slip backwards. Sleep has been going well though I haven't been sleeping the same time each night. That's what I want to work on along with tidying. I've accepted that KonMari-ing my bedroom is going to take longer than a few weeks. I've accepted it'll keep bringing up hard memories along the way. I have a goal to almost completely empty out my room by December because I just won't have a use for anything after that.
My plan is to push through, tell myself that I'm getting rid of the negative memories along with things that remind me of my past and that is why so many are coming up. It's painful, yet necessary. At least my bookshelf and closet are starting to look better. Also plan to get more sleep; drink enough water.
Thanks for the check-in.
@Lexloveslife
Hey there Lex!
Despite that school work is keeping your busy, its Good to hear that things are going well for you overall... How awesome that you were able to have a class this past week that made you feel good and seemed to meet your needs the way you wanted! Thats important.
I too was planning to watch a Horror movie marathon each week but I only managed to get a few in myself. Which Horror movies are your favorites?!! I'm looking for some ideas lol... I typically watch the stuff I normally do each year, but always open to new stuff.
De-Cluttering sounds amazing!... I swear that is something I would do EVERYDAY if I could lol... I just always feel so much better when things around me are completely clean and in thier own spaces. That is awesome for you that you are making it apart of your 'Healthy Habits'. Decluttering can benefit us in so many ways overall. And its great for you that you are making short and long term goals on how you'd like for that all to go and play out as we near the end of the year.
Great job on cooking for yourself. Good for you! And congrats to you on getting good sleep in as I know how challenging you were saying that was for you. So its good you are continuing to work on improving things there.
Sounds like you are taking and making some really great and positive steps for yourself. As well as beneficial ones to your overall wellbeing. You are doing a great job. Sounds like a really great check-in for you. Thank you for sharing with us this week and letting us know how well you are doing and how things are going for you!
I went running, and did 100 lunges. I am cutting out sugar for reat of October
@royalSmiles7528
Hey there!.. Thats awesome that you were able to get in running and lunges. Both are great activity. Good for you that you are considering making it a part of your journey to cut out Sugar. Please let us know how that goes for you and the benefits that it produces for you! We will be waiting to hear!
Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know you are doing in your journey!
@PoliteOcean thank you
@royalSmiles7528
Best wishes for cutting out the sugar.
I did that along with controlling my carb intake per meal.
Then my hunger cravings went away finally, and that helped reduced hunger related stress.
Also gas and bloating went away, which helped sleep.
In particular I minimized my sugar per day from all sources, including fruit,
so that I was within recommended limits.
I tracked my sugar intake and other nutrients using a free web app called https://cronometer.com
I restricted my fructose especially.
The reason for my fructose concern is that
it's a special sugar that the body can only process properly with the liver.
But the liver can only take so much fructose in one sitting. So anything more, gets turned to fat.
Sucrose (table sugar) is also a concern because it breaks down into half fructose, half glucose.
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/sucrose-glucose-fructose#absorption-and-use
The amazing thing is, by doing all of the above (and more), the "handle bars" at my waist line sides finally melted away within a short amount of time. No amount of exercise or dieting ever did that for me. So it seems the above things might have helped a lot.
Just sharing all that in case the ideas might be interesting for you (not making recommendations).
Please forgive any typos above.
I am dealing with severe depression mostly relationship related. I struggle finding motivation to do anything. All I want to do is lay in bed and think about what I am going through, have time to myself, but I have to work, do work for my doctoral program and be a mom. It's my birthday on Tuesday, but I want to turn my phone off and sleep all day. I don't want that day to emphasize the loneliness I feel. Everyday is a stuggle. I just try to give myself one small task a day to get through.
@bubbleVillage19812
We are sorry to hear that you are stuggling with feelings of depression. Dealing with these feelings can surely cause us to feel less motivated in our daily lives and in our goals that we have for ourselves. Theres nothing wrong with taking time for ourselves and taking self-care days. Even if that means layiing in bed for the day and just giving our bodys and minds a rest. Sometimes taking that time might actually put some things into better perspective. However, I also know that life doesn't stop for anyone when we are feelings this way and also have things that we have to tend to in our daily lives (including work and family). Relationships can certainly be a struggle no matter what type of relationship it is. But, we also need to remember that someone else, or what someone else does shouldn't "make or break" us! If your Birthday is on Tuesday, perhaps take the next few days to evaluate how you actually want to spend it? Do you want to spend it in bed and simply take that time for yourself, or would you rather try to turn some of the empty negative feelings around and enjoy your day in some way? Perhaps you can think of some of the best things that you have actually done either "Alone or even with your child/children/family" and Spend the day doing those things together! Take your kids and maybe go do those things, go to the park, go grab a favorite meal, make a picnic lunch and play some games or take a drive out around town to some of your favorite scenery and allow your mind time take in something different?!
Or... perhaps simply take a rest day.. enjoy a movie marathon in bed, snuggle with your kids if they are younger? And simply don't think too hard on anything?!
Sounds like you are already doing good by simply taking things one day at a time, day by day. Continue to keep yourself busy with the little things, as things will certainly continue to get easier one day at a time, little by little. Just know that we are 7cups are here to support you in any way that we are able. And also we do have a Relationship Support Community as well if you feel you could use further support with that too.
Thanks for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going. Continue to keep us updated on things. And best of luck to you .
Hi @PoliteOcean
Doing well here, thank you. How are you doing?
First week of OCTOBER has been way too fast! But the good thing about it is that I have been able to put out my Halloween decorations on my yard, just putting in some few safety details before the trick or treaters come (if there will be some).
Healthy habits that I have been working on have been upping my workouts a bit more. I am more focused on parts of my body that I work on when I go to the gym, like yesterday, before work I was at the gym working on my legs and I increased the intensity of my cardio by increasing the incline and speed on the treadmill. I have been doing intervals with it, increasing incline for x amount of time then decreasing for a little bit just for a short time then increasing it a bit. I have noticed my calories burned much more. Habits that I can re-inforce are my food journaling, I still haven't been able to be on it 100% like I have been. Water intake, I would like to increase it to a gallon a day, we’ll see how well I do with that.
Struggles are the same, journaling. I use MyFitnessPal and it’s an easy app to use but I am getting to the point that I am slacking on that BIG time, I have my coworker and Doc on there and they can see my updates lol.
Thats it for now, I gotta get back to my patients :)
@Keola
Well hey girly!..
How great that you were able to get your Halloween decorations up. This is normally one of the most favorite times of the year for me heading into Halloween and then the holiday season. But boy 2020 has surely been a crazy ride this year lol.. I have absolutely nothing up sadly. I hope that you get some Trick-or-Treaters your way! I still haven't heard anything on how that will be here for us. Guess time will tell.
How Awesome for you that you are still continuing to do so well with your journey and staying on track for the most part. Remember it never has to be 100%, only that you do the best you can and stay consistent (even when you aren't 100%). Great job to you on discovering what is working well for you in your journey (Such as the interval training you are doing)! Interval training is a great way to burn calories more effectively! Keep up the great work that you are doing there! And.. with working towards more water intake!
Journaling doesn't have to be 100% either.. just a little consistent. Even if its only a sentence on how you did that day or what worked or what didn't work for you that day. Or even something that you could change moving forwards.. And how great that you are using an app that is working for you. MFP is a great tool. And even Cooler that your co-workers are on there to (for lack of better term) keep you accountable!?! lol
Please continue to check back and let us know how you are continuing to do in your journey. I love that you are really staying on top of things. Keep up the great work! I'm so proud of you!... Thanks for checking in this week!
@PoliteOcean
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate all the support and encouragement I recieve from you. checking in here (as much as I can) helps me with accountability as well. It makes me think about my journey and what i can improve or keep going. And yes, my coworkers does help me feel motivated, especially staying from our candy drawer aka DKA drawer lol. Plus they say that i help them stay accountable as well. I have noticed our shared snacks have changed to a healthier choice :D
Also, thank you for the reminders that nothing is 100% and every little thing I do helps oh and the interval training definitely help me burn calories more effectively and Im enjoying it. Now to teach my kiddos to do that on the treadmill when they're with me :D
Hope the rest of your week goes well. I'll let ya know about trick or treaters when Halloween comes <3
