**AND ANY & ALL "NEWBIES" THAT WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH US!
🎄 The past week here went really well.... I managed to stay on track with all my wellness goals without any derailment.... I kept on track with mealplanning, hydration, complete tracking, and Sleep goals. I got in all my vitamins daily, and workouts/activity. And I have seen the results of the hard work that I've put in "daily" (and not just sporadically like I was doing). So this has been an exciting and motivating day for me.
🎁 This past week has been rather cold (and periodically wet/rainy)... I haven't been able to get outside for walks like I enjoy. So I've continued to keep up with my Group Fitness classes. And in the coming week ahead, I'm ready to "ramp it up" a bit with a "New" workout class that I wasn't able to get in last week......I've also continued to get ready for the Holidays ahead and finishing up my shopping as (I'm still waiting on a few things to be delivered)...and I've been enjoying toasty evenings at home with plenty of Hot-chocolate and some Christmas movies (snuggling with my pup). Which have all been great for the soul and overall wellbeing!
🎅 This weekend is another wet one, but... intentions are to still get out and about and enjoy. Run some errands, do a little more shopping, enjoy some Christmas lights in the evening, and some good movies in the evening as I prepare for another week ahead~
@PoliteOcean It sounds like you've been having a happy and productive beginning of December! That's super awesome! :) How do you feel about the group fitness classes? I've been wanting to get back into fitness, but waiting to hear from my physical therapist first...to see if I can be a weightlifter again lol.
By the way, does the group fitness classes give pointers on meal prep or nutrition? I have hard time with that...I flip-flop on eating decent for a while to not eating... :( I don't have much appetite, but...Maybe if I work out more intensively, it could help build appetite!
@ImpudentIncognito
Hey there Cognito~ Thank you! And yes I’ve surely been trying to be more productive this month.
I personally LOVE Group Fitness classes in the sense that it gives me the motivation and accountability that I need to workout. And I get more done and accomplished than trying to do it on my own at home or someplace. I make it an appointment with myself to get up and go to that class knowing that I’ll get in, get it done, and get on with my day. While also having the chance to socialize or be motivated by other like-minded people.
I’m also a fitness instructor/trainer who has been on a long break over the past year. So I’m now joining in with others as a participant to continue to keep up with things and keep myself accountable in my goals. But find that I wasn’t necessarily putting in my best efforts for awhile lol. So I’m getting better there.
While group fitness classes don’t necessarily provide nutrition or meal prep pointers, the instructor themselves could also have a “dual license” in nutrition which could allow them to offer nutritional support & tips to whoever needs it. (For Example I am a licensed fitness instructor & Personal trainer who also has a “nutrition coaching license”, so I’d be able to help participants with that if needed.)…… also depending on the facility you go to, they could in fact have nutritional classes that help their members.
I think it’s totally awesome that you want to get back into fitness! And I hope that happens for you. I think it’s also a great way to give time to yourself, incorporate self care, and help with unloading any stressors. So hopefully you hear back from your PT soon! As weightlifting is amazing. I love weights myself.
Best of luck to you! Please keep us updated on how things go there!
@PoliteOcean That's cool that you are a fitness trainer/instructor with a license in nutrition coaching! 😮I had my physical therapy appointment yesterday, and it went fine. I'm currently doing the exercises that she has instructed for me to do. I won't go straight to weightlifting...I don't think I'm capable anymore at least this moment. ☹️
But anyways, it's good to hear you are enjoying the group fitness classes! It actually sounds like a pretty good idea, because as you mentioned, it's motivating and a way to be held accountable. I want to get back to healthy and fit again too!
Thank you so much for your kind words, as always. 🙂
@ImpudentIncognito
Thats great for you that you got to see your PT! And awesome that they gave you a plan to follow and some exercise to start with. Continue to take their advice and suggestions to get where you desire to be to grow stronger!
I had to see one too several years ago. The things you learn from them can be very helpful.
Again you are making lots of great strides and choices. You are going to get to where you wish to be! Keep up the great work. 👍🏼
@PoliteOcean

@PoliteOcean Going back a week ago, on Saturday my brother Greg tried to give me a relationship lesson again. I wasn't buying it. Early Sunday morning there was a group of about 30 cars that were drag racing on a street close by. I called 911 and reported it. I live in da ghetto. Sunday after I took a bath. It's an ordeal. Monday Leslie put a new caretaker in here named Jane. She sleeps in the living room and she is cramping my style. I only went for two walks this week. I can't do any reading at the house because the dining room table is always mess. At least Amanda and Alan kept the dining room table clean. Wednesday Sifa put a TV in the living room. I was very worried and stressed about it but so far it's working out okay. Jane is a disaster. She talks on phone when she is eating, plays music when she is supposed to be working, foes serve meals on time, and ignored Stuart when he was crying for help. At least she doesn't care about the TV. There is no way I'm going back to watching Alan's stupid TV programs when he comes back. Leslie and Sifa keep on changing their mind on what they want to do with this place. For this upcoming week, on Friday I have a follow up appointment with my doctor to review the results of my blood test. I really want to move out but I need to get into a better financial situation.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo~ Hmmm that’s interesting that your brother feels the need to focus on relationship advice. Out of curiosity is this something you are sharing with him that he feels the need to do so? Or is he just offering it out of the blue? Either way if your aren’t buying it, you can always just take it for what’s it’s worth and with a grain of salt! ….. I can understand the feelings behind the drag racing. (Personally for me it’s loud, rude, and creates quite a disturbance). Not to mention loud noises personally aren’t my thing. So Hopefully it worked out and calmed down. And don’t happen again. That’s great that despite all that, that you were able to get a bath in and take care of your hygiene needs. I think that’s quite odd that Leslie would put a caretaker in the living room?! There has to be a better place for that. The house should be for those paying and needing to be there. Seems like she’s taking in more boarders than people that actually need cared for?!…. That’s great that you were still able to get your walk & activity in 2 days! Good for you! …And how nice that you now have a Tv in the living room that you are possibly enjoying so far!…. Hopefully having a better place to do your reading will come soon as well. Jane sounds interesting and as well like an un-needed guest?! Hopefully that situation will change too. Especially since she’s ignoring someone who needs help! Yikes…. But Good luck with your upcoming appt as well as with your finances. Blessings that it will work out & all will come together for you to get your own place soon. Continue to keep us updated and thank you for sharing your week with us.
.
@Regmo
Hi, Reg, I can understand needing to get in a better financial situation before you can move. It's only a matter of time. You will get your own place eventually. I have faith in you.
@PoliteOcean
Hey everyone~ How are you doing & Feeling today?.... How did the First week of December go for you so far?... What did you get accomplished for yourself this past week?
I gained a couple pounds bc I haven’t been able to walk due to spine issues but it was a modest gain. I did hit last week my 50lb weight loss goal so proud of that. The journey is up and down consistency for the win …
🎁This is our "Second" Check-in for the Month of "DECEMBER".....(So far we've brought you Holiday Icebreakers, Holiday Wellness Tips, Holiday Workouts, Navigating Holiday Weight Gain Tips),.... How will you continue to navigate the Month ahead for yourself And maintain "Balance" for your overall wellbeing?
🎅 In What ways can you focus on your goals ahead instead of obstacles?... How can you stay focused & keep yourself accountable as we end another year?
I sprinkle in good habits throughout this months extra holiday celebrations lol 😂 I love em bit plan to do well on the other days …
I don’t worry re Christmas and new years gains … bc if you look after January to December no matter what you will be okay …
⭐️JUST FOR FUN: (YOU CAN ONLY KEEP "ONE")~ .....Cup of Egg-Nog..... Warm Fuzzy Socks...... Mug of Hot-Chocolate......Or....Warm Toasty Fireplace?!
Fireplace and socks lol 😂
🎄What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?!
yes being positive sorting modest gains is a win …
🎁What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~
@SunShineAlwaysGrateful
Hey there Sun!
I think that’s awesome that you were able to drop a substantial amount of weight for yourself. That definitely takes hard work and discipline! The journey will always be like a roller coaster of ups and downs, but yes I agree that “Consistency is key”! Keep up the great work. Very inspiring. 👍🏼
I think having a goal to focus on about what you want is a great way to stay on track. Keeping up good habits certainly help when we are faced with those “holiday choices”. Just remember it’s 80/20. If you’re doing well 80% of the time, then you are on the right track in your day and week. And it’s ok to relax a little and enjoy these amazing holidays when we have the chance to. That’s what creating healthy habits is all about. 🙂
(….Fireplace AND Warm fuzzy socks sound good to me)! 😉
I too think this is a pretty amazing community and I love it too! And we love having you here with all of your wonderful contributions to it!! And we appreciate you as well so thank you also!
And for sharing with us this week! Great of you to stop by and share!
Hi, Ocean,
I don't know what I did wrong. I keep trying to post and getting an error message. Then I tried to send you a personal message and give you my responses to your thread, but got a message that I'm breaking the rules. I don't know what I did. I give up on respnding this week, which is a bummer.
@purpleTree4652
It isn’t you … 7cups glitched and I couldn’t load a post either it said error … so sorry I know it was frustrating 🤗
@purpleTree4652
Thank you for explaining Tree. I’m So sorry you spent so much time on your post for that to happen. I truly hope that 7cups get the glitch resolved and also that your week went well for you! Looking forwards to getting caught up with you next Check-in.
Have a great rest of the weekend. ❤️
Hey everyone~ How are you doing & Feeling today?.... How did the First week of December go for you so far?... What did you get accomplished for yourself this past week?
Feeling better I guess. Was feeling a lot more pain than usual this past week...I accomplished eating more food and quit drinking alcohol completely to numb the physical pain. To be frank, I'm thinking of quitting consuming MJ edibles as well. I want to be more sober and not have to numb my pain each time. I want to just feel like...Myself for once without a controlled substance sometimes. I'm even thinking of giving up caffeine, but those definitely give me headaches if I quit for a long period of time...
Apart from that, I'm starting some real estate classes on Monday.
I got my real estate text book either on Thursday or Friday, but I want to start on Monday to be fresh and ready. I also have a physical therapy appointment, so hopefully they can also help me out with this chronic pain.
Honestly? I think about my son. I'm currently "unemployed" until I finish these real-estate classes. I'm going to buckle down and study really hard to pass. I have a job that's interested already in hiring me. I may have to do a 2nd interview though is what they said. They'll check on me and the classes later.
What keeps me accountable is by posting here or telling my partner my goals/plans, because I don't want to fail myself nor my partner. It helps keep me in check. He's an EXTREMELY hard worker, and I want to be like him.
He's been supporting me mentally, physically, and financially through these tough times, and I want to be able to return the favour once I complete school. I want to make sure he's OK and take him out for dates and spoil him.
Same with my son, I want to be able to provide him with the best education I can while making sure too that he is healthy, content, safe, and has all the support he needs.
⭐️JUST FOR FUN: (YOU CAN ONLY KEEP "ONE")~ .....Cup of Egg-Nog..... Warm Fuzzy Socks...... Mug of Hot-Chocolate......Or....Warm Toasty Fireplace?!
Hmm...I don't really care for eggnog, fuzzy socks are cool, have to be in the mood for hot chocolate, and fireplace is quite nice but my little one likes to stick his hands everywhere so it's a no go so...
My final answer will be fuzzy socks lol. I wear socks all the time around the house (we don't wear shoes in the house!)
🎄What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?!
As always, I'm going to start with the struggles and end on a positive note by mentioning the highlights.
Struggles: I've been experiencing severe pain lately, as I have chronic pain. It's worse during my time of the month, I feel incapable of doing a lot of things. It just adds to the pain... I've been struggling with keeping the house clean, when in the past, it would be spotless! Right now, the messiness reflects my state of mind, so I want to clean it to feel more at peace... I also got really angry and it was really...weird and made me anxious right after. I was angry at something really stupid...I was gaming with my partner, and we were in a dungeon group together with some people who were being quite rude to me. Normally, it doesn't get to me AT ALL, but at that moment, I was extremely and uncharacteristically angry. I had to log off and put myself on time out...I apologized to my partner for my angry outbursts and he didn't seem fazed by it. He was understanding. Not an excuse, but also on that day, I was in extreme pain that day.
Highlights: I'm starting real-estate classes this Monday along with the physical therapy to see what's wrong with my body, so yay! I also should be seeing my partner this upcoming weekend (hopefully). My traffic ticket charges have been dropped after I went to court on Friday -- at least once I finish one last requirement, then I'm off the hook and don't have to worry. 🥹 The judge was extremely kind and amazing! I'm also starting therapy hopefully soon...I was prescribed meds early on from my doctor for my depression and PTSD but I won't take them until I talk to the therapist AND until my physical pain is in check first...I think that's the wiser option. Maybe the physical pain causes more anguish?...
🎁What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~
Honestly? I wish I could skip to the chapter in my life where...:
- I have a good career(or make a passive income to where I can travel and spend my life forever with my family)
- My son has a great education and is enjoying himself
- Possibly be married, living together, having more kids and being with my soul mate, aka, my partner for the rest of my life. <3
I cherish my nuclear family so much. I want to be the best parent and partner I can be for them. I want to transform myself into a better person.
That's why I quit drinking (again). I want to quit permanently, it adds nothing to my life and ruins my fitness gains by making me feel bloated lol. Furthemore, I feel too "old" to be drinking anymore. It's just going to give me a bad hangover...
I also should probably quit....MJ...I like it and hate it at the same time. I think I'm just going to reduce the amount I do overtime. I don't like doing MJ in public unless I'm trying to tune out the world and in a specific type of mood....
I no longer vape as of a few months now, maybe since July or June of 2023? I never really cared much for smoking in general...even with MJ, I don't like smoking it, I rather consume it via edibles.
I made up this new project...called "Project Imp", where I vow to try and turn my life around for the better...I'm tired of being down in the hole. I've been through a lot and I'm going to keep searching for the light at the end of the tunnel.
I currently can't sleep but...I plan to take a nice warm shower, now that yesterday was the end of my monthly cycle and possibly re-paint my nails, since the nail polish on my hand is chipping off. Maybe groom my thick eyebrows, idk. Just minor self-care...I consider this partially journaling by coming onto 7cups lol. It's kind of like an anonymous diary that others who can relate to me are able to read and share their experiences too! At least I won't feel alone that way.
@ImpudentIncognito
Hey Cognito~
Thats good for you that you are feeling better despite having more pain over the week. I think that is so great for you that you are wanting to make some healthier changes in your life. Awesome job on being able to eat more and for being able to quit alcohol. I'm sure it wasn't the easiest of things to do, but Keep up the great work there! You've got this.
Oh wow, Congrats to you on the Real Estate classes! My hubby has his license as well. So its either a great career on its own, or just as great as a "side hustle" depending on how you want it to work for you! Again, you've got this and can do it! And it will pay off in the long run for you and your little family.
Good for you for having your pain looked at by a PT... I personally can relate to that. And it sucks getting sidelined with it when you are trying to do better, be better, feel better and live better! So don't give up! And hopefully they can help you out to get you back to where you are trying to be.
I think its wonderful for you that are keeping and holding yourself accountable by posting here at Cups. Telling others your plans too also helps. As when we tell the right people, then they are also onboard with us and our goals. And as you said, can help to keep us "in check"! Its great that you have him to "look up to", and it sounds like he is a role model of sorts in the way you desire to be and make a good life for yourself. Keep working on that relationship as it sounds like its definitely a positive one in your life. The more positive people we have in our lives, the more positivity can rub off on us, and the more positive outcomes we can obtain. And the better you do, the better that you can be for yourself and your son as well. And be able to provide for him all that you dream and desire! While also being the best you, to be the best support that he needs!
I can again relate to your 'Struggles', as I too have dealt with pain from a prior injury. And it can "knock us on our butts" at times. So I get it. I know some days can be worse than others. And at times can feel like a struggle. Even the things that were once "small or came easy" can feel like a Huge obstacle. So its understandable that if you were having a tough day with the pain, that it came out in your burst of negative emotions. And thats ok. Your feelings are valid. Its just important that we try not to continue to stay there in them. And try to forge a path to take care of ourselves (and seek any help that we might need). And it sounds like you will be working on that, so again, Great job to you!
I think you have an HUGE Amazing list of 'HIGHLIGHTS' there to compensate for those struggles! Congrats again on the real-estate classes, getting into physical therapy, and getting those traffic charges dropped!! And even better, being able to deal with a kind judge. I think its also a great idea to hold off on medications until "after" you speak to a therapist that can help you deal with the roots of your problems/issues! There is nothing wrong with that. You have to do whats best for you. Some people do very well with therapy/counseling and being able to practice mental health/coping exercises/mechanisms that can help them (without having to turn to the medications). Not everyone is a medication taker. Or does well on them. So that is definitely a "personal choice" that you have to make for yourself. Because the pain could be causing the depression?! And getting that dealt with could possibly help ease those feelings for you?!... Either way, seeking therapy can help with all that and put you on a path to where you hope to be for yourself.
I also see that you have an amazing lists of hopes and dreams. Of where you desire to be, how you desire to feel, and live out your life (for yourself and your family). And you can get there. Making the positive changes that you've already shared , you are already on the right track to being that much closer!
And kuddos to you on what you call "minor self-care"... Never consider it "minor" because when it makes you Feel good to spend time on yourself and puts your mental space into a positive one, then that is HUGE! And we can ALL relate to that! And one thing for sure, here at 7cups, YOU/WE are NEVER alone!!
We are here to support you! (and we are here to support "each other"!)....Again, you've got this. You already said it, you laid out a plan, you're taking the steps. Now... ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO!!!! ;)
Thank you for sharing your week with us, and for letting us know how you are doing and how things have been going. Continue to keep us up to date on everything!
@PoliteOcean Thanks! My pain is still in and out, but the physical therapist gave me sets of exercises to do and some pointers. Yeah, I'm hoping with this real estate license, I can better support my family. I honestly would love for it to be a way to earn passive income...by eventually having my own properties and renting them out to tenants to always have a stream of income.
Recently though...I've been debating about applying for short term disability to give myself a break (will taking the real estate classes though and get the license for back-up). I've gone through a lot of job hopping and burn out that I'm scared that (despite loving this job field), I might deal with the same stressors and such. I'm hoping the behavioural and physical therapy helps though.
The physical therapist was great and the appointment went smoothly. She did mention that it was possible I could have had a fracture prior due to the incident that happen many years ago, and also mentioned something about I could possible have a concussion or an issue with my head (I brought up to her what my ex-fiance did to me, so she checked). She did tests and such and recommended I see an eye doctor if I can and that she'll keep working with me to help with the issue.
I still would like for my primary doctor to do an x-ray or scan on my back and head to check in on it...
Thanks! I definitely want to hurry up and get this license already tbh lol. My partner found a job in my city for the field he's going into. He'll be moving in with me at the end of the month! :) I'm super stoked and excited!! We'll get a house though once my lease ends and probably move out of this city for good...I keep getting bad memories and want to just start fresh with my partner and son. So, posting on here often about it is kind of like a reminder of "yeah, you want your life to turn around? Go finish those classes and apply for a job!"
Anyhow, thanks so much for your kind words! I sincerely appreciate it.💖
@ImpudentIncognito
That’s all awesome for you!
It’s great your PT is working with you like they are. Sounds like they are very in-depth which is good. One other thing I might suggest (since you brought up X-rays), is to see if you could possibly get an MRI or PetScan. Which kind of gives your whole body a good check. And can see and pickup things that might not be seen on a typical X-ray. Just a thought.
But sounds like everything is coming together as you had hoped for! And that’s awesome that you’ll get to move to a new place (and possibly new city)! Starting new can be a refreshing change for our overall well-being! Please continue to keep us updated on everything!
@PoliteOcean Currently I'm a little behind where I'd like to be on a Sunday. Woke up later than planned. Not sure why, because the pets were pretty quiet last night. Ended up playing with the puppy later than expected. Granted, it's Sunday and I don't really have plans but Sunday is when I try to catch up on things that I can't do the rest of the week.
Today, I went and picked up a package at my local CVS. It was a cat condo that I got for my cat. She's older and after the puppy interrupted her in her box a week or so ago (the pup gets crated when I'm at work so she gets excited when I come home), I thought getting a cat condo would help. It would give the cat privacy and places to climb/hide when she's had enough of the puppy. Unfortunately, the assembly took longer than planned. The picture instructions were better than some of the other ones I've had before but I still assembled a few things wrong. By then, the puppy was getting excited and it was hard to keep her away from the pieces I had left to assemble.
I managed to get it all put together and tried showing the cat where her litter box now was but the puppy was being pushy so I put her up in the bed at the top of the condo and got the pup ready to go outside and play with her toy. That also meant that my breakfast (now lunch) was delayed again. I'm actually surprised that I was able to go six hours without really eating anything.
I did manage to have a little lunch about an hour ago and now that the cat and dog have chased each other throughout the apartment a few times, it is quiet so I am going to try to do a few things on the computer while I have the chance.
@Enthenia
Hi there~
Sounds like maybe your body and well-being needed the extra rest by waking up a little later than intended. And that’s ok to give your body what it feels it needs!
It’s great for you that despite things taking longer than you wanted that you were able to get everything situated for your cat. I think it’s amazing when both cats and dogs can co-habitate in the same space.
Good for you for now taking some time to focus a bit on yourself & your needs. Keep up the great work.
And thank you for checking in this week to share with us! Please continue to keep us updated on how things are going for you.
@PoliteOcean With as much as I have going on, I tend to forget things. Like today I checked on my current assignment and realized that it's been at least 10 days since I've done anything. Even though I have work to do, I spent time on my assignment. Of course doing a diagram took longer than anticipated but now that I have it completed, I can do the written portion and the Powerpoint.
I always manage to get caught up with my work so that shouldn't be a problem but sometimes I wish I had a few extra hours to work with. Since I have a nine-month old working dog, most of my free time is spent in keeping her exercised. If I don't, she starts getting into things.
