There are times when we are stressed out in our daily life and do not know how to handle it. Stress is when our mind and body respond to change, challenges and demand. It is a natural defense when we get frustrated, angry or nervous. this is known as fight or flight response.

the following image shows how shows what stress does to our body in short term and long term:

it depends of my mood, but often I do look toward support

I try to handle my stress by going to my room and turning on my LED lights to a soft mode and putting on a record and reading a book.

I usually don't ask others for help because I don't know how to. I don't really have anyone in my life that understands my certain kind of stress or stressors.

@bluemariposa17

Sometimes it is hard to ask others for help because we may feel judged when looking for help. It is hard at times to open up when we are seeking help but I am here for you always.

It is sad how much damage stress can cause to our bodies if we ignore it! Thanks for this post to remind us about it!

When I feel stress in my life I usually turn inwards first and meditate. Then I decide what needs to be done first, what is most important and what can be done later. Mostly I deal with stress on my own but if I can't deal with it I will ask for help here or call my old friend.

I call friends and talk

I journal

I do deep breathing and focus on my breath

I meditate

I crochet, sit down, step away from my computer/phone

I walk in the sunshine and breathe

Sometimes I do lymph massage/tapping and give myself hugs :)

These seem to help!

@pamharley003

What are some ways you handle stress in your life?

Meditation, breathing exercises, walk in nature. These will calm me but not remove the Spector of my responsibilities,

Do you ask others for help at times or handle it alone?

I do not ask anyone in my life for help. It sets you up as victim in their eyes. Which is something that is hard to undo.

@Gettingbettertoday Good question. I see the big picture of my reasons for stress, then figure out what I can do to change my situation. For example, my previous job was stressful. I applied to jobs, and I managed to settle down for one offer.

@Gettingbettertoday That’s unfortunate to hear. What makes you not possible to be interviewed?

Anxiety. My mind blanks out when I am under pressure.

@Gettingbettertoday I see. Did you reach out to your friends or your therapist to decrease anxiety?

@freedomauve

I can't talk to my therapist except at schedule meetings that are once a month. I don't have any friends to talk to.
