Emotional hygiene means being aware of our mental health and doing small things every day to take care of our emotional wounds when we get them.

@amiablePeace77 I clean out the thoughts in my mind by sweeping them out as soon as they arise. If they hand around in my mind then often they will escalate. Disappointment becomes anger and anger can become hatred or taking actions I later regret.

@soulsings

Good idea to take care of those negative thoughts as soon as they arise to stop them growing.

I practice emotional hygiene by utilizing my self help books, going to church to recenter myself for the week ahead and clearing my thoughts of negtivity by journaling the intrusive thoughts down. I don't stay negative for too long now especially ever since I found different methods, thank you for making this post @amiablepeace77

I managed to feel okay doing self-compassion the other day. That really helped. I wanna keep being able to feel that way when I do it in the future.

Meditation helps, as well.

@Zeraphim

Nice that self-compassion helped. There are many ways to practise self-compassion, also with meditations. It might be helpful to establish a daily routine.

@PoliteOcean

Great ways to practise self-compassion and I agree sometimes it's just about doing nothing at all! 😀 Just be.

I ask myself "is this thought helpful?" If not, I let it go. If I'm not sure, I ask myself "Do I need to keep this thought around? Why?" Then more often than not I let it go

I intentionally make time to see good things such as a picture of beautiful nature scenery, cute animals, etc. Journaling helps me to calm down my mind by organizing thoughts I have. Listening to a happy and peaceful classic music helps too. I just try my best to keep me positive. 😊

I feel like we're on the same boat. Journaling and listening to relaxing piano music are some of my favourotes when my mind is going extremely fast.

I enjoy many albums of Ludovico Einaudi. He's a great pianist!

How do you practice emotional hygiene?

- This week I will practice emotional hygiene by journaling in the gratitude journal I recently purchased, by being mindful of my thoughts, and by going to the gym to increase my "happy" hormones[serotonin, dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin].

- Cheers to all

How do you practise emotional hygiene?

I practice emotional hygiene through breathing exercises, meditation, and doing daily tasks.

@CaringSub I feel daily tasks can be made meaningful when I have an attitude that supports that.
