Daily Check - In May 5th to May 7th 2025

When we pass judgment we are assuming someone is guilty and pass a sentence to them. A judge does this every day in his courtroom but we should not pass a punsihment to someone in our minds. No one wants to be judged it is an uncomfortable feeling. We all want to be treated equally.

Definition of judging: it means to form or give or have an opinion about something or someone.

When we judge someone it not only affects them but alsocan impact families, communities and society as a whole. This person feeling judged can develope low self - esteem and mental health issues.

@pamharley003

I think that when we judge we assume bad intentions. And this harms ourselves, as it gives us a very negative view of the world.

For example, I used to think things like "they said hurtful things because they don't care". I'm judging their internal state to be careless or mean when in fact, I have no idea. They might have been trying to help. In this way I came to conclude that I was unlovable as I found lots of false evidence that everyone around me didn't care for me. However, when I try not to make assumptions and judgements about other people's intentions, it's much easier to believe in myself.

@pamharley003 does judging merely mean to have an opinion? Won't everyone always have some opinion about the people/ situations they face? Non judgment is perhaps like having an opinion leaving the room open for other possibilities. So even if you feel repulsed by traits of people and form certain opinions, you have the respect not to be harsh to them and show them acceptance regardless.

@pamharley003

hello

If we pass no judgment then we don’t protect ourselves. It’s like living without consciousness.

Lots of circumstances yes it’s a bad idea.

Things like an angry person with a weapon approaching you, someone who has stolen from you, a barking aggressive dog roaming free? Situations like this we don’t judge them as something to be avoided?

Alternatively, a paramedic when hurt offering help, or an old friend who’s always been there. Can you not judge them as good people ?

to not judge, thinking things like this is a new situation on a different day.

What will judging achieve?

staying present in the moment is the ultimate removal technique of judgement, as all that has been is in the past where it happened.

if it’s wise idk. Most the time I’d say yeah but not always. Our judgment doesn’t put people away for years and remove their freedom, it just protects from hurt.

What are some ways we cannot judge others?

I believe embracing diversity and that everyone has a right on their opinion helps with non-judgement.

@pamharley003 when we judge, we only know half the story.

It blocks us from a potentially good relationship/friendship.

It prevents growth

It blocks healing.

It holds back forgiveness.

It doesn't allow for the actual possibility that we are wrong

It hides empathy.

It builds mistrust, frustration and gossip .

Only judge if something is wrong for you but listen to someone else's reasoning because life is not black and white and when you walk in someone else's shoes, you might be more understanding and the view from a high horse can be lonely and hard to get down 😁🥰

O you who believe! Let not some people among you laugh at others, perhaps they may be better than them.

Sura al-Hujurat, verse 11

Something similar in Qur'an

Bible torah and Qur'an are words of god

@pamharley003 seek to find answers first or express in a way that states not understanding why they think that way
