Seeing Things For What They Are
When we can't see things as they are, we misunderstand things, that is, we have illusions about things. We mistake what we don't know for what we know.
❤️ Do you believe we would be happier if we see things as they are?

I frequently have to remind myself that I don't have a crystal ball so I need to stay in the moment. Doing so definitely helps me feel better.
@777Bre777
I hear you but I think even if I had a crystal ball I would prefer staying in the now though, were I actually can experience and even eventually change things.
@amiablePeace77
That's why I like to remember that I don't have one... So I stay in the now but I def understand what you mean lol
@amiablePeace77 This is a good tough question! I think that in many ways we would be happier. We'd be less likely to put ourselves in situations that might be wrong for us. At the same time we'd also be less likely to take chances and risks.
@amiablePeace77
I think that being able to see things, people and situations as they really are would impact how I live life.
I think that it would reduce viewing things in terms of all good or all bad. This could reduce frustration, misunderstandings and even disappointment, in some situations.
Personally, I can get stuck in my own head and it's difficult to view things, people and situations simply as they really are.

@Sher217
Good point about not seeing things in extremes good or bad, it narrows thinking highly. Accepting the shades of grey sounds much more relaxing to me.
@amiablePeace77
Yes! Seeing things in extremes is the description that I was searching for.
I think that being able to see things as they are would help me not to view things in extremes, due to my own perception.
I appreciate you posting this thoughtful question and the others who have also shared their views.

@Sher217
Something that helped me to get a healthier perception was to learn to stay calmer by meditation.
@amiablePeace77
I haven't tried meditation in a long time. I think it may be time to revisit the practice. Thank you for the suggestion!

@amiablePeace77 Do you believe we would be happier if we see things as they are?
That is not an easy question to answer without qualifications. If one is not attached to any person or outcome, then it is probably going to make one happy to see things as they are because it can free us from any delusions we may have about what is ours to possess on Earth.
The reason I say this is because the older I get, the more things I see that are impermanent. By clinging to things that are impermanent, suffering results. By letting go, a great weight is lifted and we are free of everything we thought we needed to make us happy.
The only happiness I have found is helping other people like on 7cups. Everyone needs a little help sometime. Compassion and kindness are paths to happiness that do not disappoint.
@amiablePeace77
I think it might be a little easier if things were able to be seen in a more transparent way. Regardless of what it is. I like when things are concise, upfront and to the point.
But I also in saying that no longer try to get too far ahead of myself.~ And like to stay in the moment.
@amiablePeace77
I believe our emotional responses depends on the situation at hand. Sometimes, we may see the truth of the situation as hurtful and scary. Other times, we may see the truth as enlightening and gratifying, which can definitely make us happier. ❤️
@amiablePeace77
I think we'd be happier when it comes to relationships if we see things as they really are, see people who they really are. Too often we can find ourselves projecting 'ideal' qualities in another person and get caught up in that fake image. This can be a friend, partner, teacher, etc. Then it backfires on us and we can get hurt. Taking away those 'rose-colored' glasses will save us from a lot of stress.
In terms of generally seeing things as they are, it's very beneficial to do so in order to not have unrealistic expectations.
@amiablePeace77
Do you believe we would be happier if we see things as they are?
hmm in the fake world yes-we all would be happier. But in the real world it is not like this. I think we have to be open minded to many things and possibilities. Being mindful is good on this.
@RumpleSteeleSkin
Good point Rumple. Nice to see you in the here 😊
@amiablePeace77
I did not have this skill at all. The time I spent with others and leadership positions on here taught me the best! It is good to have time actually to be in forums. I miss them!
