@MonBon thanks for this thread.

I wonder if listeners at 7cups know about the opportunities that they have as options in addition to listening.

In my area alone, they can learn to coach other listeners on how to be the best listener they can be.

What other opportunities are there for members and listeners?

@soulsings

Great question soul <3 Member and listeners have tons of options! Just to name a few:

They can browse and join various community projects
They can join the forum team
They can join the group support team
They can join the feed team
They can join the Q&A team
Listeners can become mentors or teen stars

I am always willing to help someone find how they fit in here at 7 cups ^^

Likewise, with MonBon, I'm always willing to help someone find how they fit in here at 7Cups! There are a lot of opportunities which can make it difficult to pick just one, so being able to chat with members or listeners and see what they enjoy doing based off what they have done either done off the site or on-site can help, in a way, find your place.

Same here! To add on to this a little, I think it's important to find what you enjoy doing the most on 7 Cups. I remember when I was taking my first steps as a leader on 7 Cups, I wanted to do everything possible..I'm sure @Pali remembers cheeky

But eventually I realized that there is honestly SO much to do, and no one can do it all alone, but when we work together, we can do it as a team! So while there are many things that you might find exciting, I think that focusing on a few main things can help you excel at those things and make a bigger impact in that area so that you are enjoying what you are doing and making sure that you are not burning out by taking on a bunch of things that you like but don't necessarily LOVE doing.

what is one piece of advice youd give someone who is considering working towards ambassador?

@Laura

I would say, walk together with the community, believe in your power to create positive changes and continue working hard.

All the best to future ambassadors!

👉 A piece of advice for all potential leaders-- Take baby steps and keep connecting the dots. A big change is the result of small steps.

👉 I joined in three years of birthday celebration as I joined the Cups 3 days before its 4th birthday.

👉 Favorite color- All shades of blue.

@Laura

My advice is to find a project you are passionate about and work toward that. Your goals should be project oriented, not solely leadership oriented.

@MonBon - I'm late to the party, but this is exactly what I was going to say! Start with finding the project that feels like the right fit for you, and then work to grow from there. Chase the impact, not the title.

@Laura

Find your 'why'. When you find out why you're working towards ambassador, you then work on not losing sight of it so when you're able to hold onto it, no one can take it from you.

Great question! As a few other ambassadors have mentionned above, I think it's important to find what you love doing and focus on that. Spend your time and attention on something that you are passionate about, get in touch with the current leaders of that project and work together with them so that you can learn more about how they lead and practice building up your leadership!

This is what helped me the most as a leader on 7 Cups, special thanks to @fluffyUnicorns84 for teaching me so much about the chatroom track!

Ambassadors heart

What keeps you going in your role as an ambassador? How do you balance this role with other roles and responsibilities in your life?

@SunFern

It depends on the day. Some days I'm just excited about the work I'm doing and I don't really need any prodding to do it at all, but others it is more obligation than genuine desire. For myself, a ritual I have is periodically reassessing the work that I do here and making sure the majority of it is tasks I want to be doing. For instance, I stepped away from the forum ambassador position last September, but I am still involved on the ambassador team.

@SunFern I keep going with my role by a commitment to help the site. The benefit of that is I have a point of focus besides my personal problems - it actually is a feeling of completion when I help people.

I do use a calendar to schedule things and also try to include team members in doing some of the team projects. If I try to do everything myself, I may get burnt out and it is not sustainable. I would also miss developing the talent on my team. So there are benefits to delegating.

@SunFern

It depends on the day.... some days are obviously busier than others when it comes to (Real life Vs. 7cups life)...But what keeps me going is the connections that I have with others in the community. I love the Healthy Living Community, and being able to manage that community and help others in their goals. Whether it be getting started in them, or offering guidance and support of some type! I love the friendships there and also being there helps me to stay on track as well ...and I feel we do what we can to keep each other motivated!

Balancing it all comes just like it does with anything else going on in your life. You just have to make the time for it~ wink

The biggest thing for me is remembering that it's okay to take breaks when I need them.

This allows me to relax on days that I choose not to come onto 7 Cups and to enjoy my time spent offline. When I was still in school, I stuck to a schedule of cupsing after school during the weekdays, and taking the weekends off to focus on myself. I think that self care time allowed me to ensure that I wasn't burning myself out by speanding all my free time on here.

Also, I think that what keeps me going is the fact that I am really doing what I love, so it often doesn't feel like work, just continuing with something that I am passionate about!

I also have to thank all the people who always support me in everything that I do! And of course the people who I mentor, they keep me going and make everything worth it, especially as I watch them grow into leaders themselves!

Oooh. Somehow I didn't notice this thread. Wonder if it's okay to still ask questions

But anyways, how does it feel to be an ambassador? Can it get stressful at times? What kind of problems do you guys sometimes bump into and how do you solve them? :0

@AdorableBabyDemon

Hi there!

how does it feel to be an ambassador? Most days it doesn't really feel like anything. I am still at my core a listener, and the privileges I have as a part of the ambassador role serve to make it easier for me to effectively manage my projects. On days when it does feel like something, it's a mixed bag of emotions. Being an ambassador gives me a different perspective when things happen because I get to see more of the background processes that go into everything.

Can it get stressful at times? Yes, but it's mostly internal. I get stressed because I want to do more but that's not always possible, either due to other things happening in my life, technical limitations on the site, policy limitations, etc.

What kind of problems do you guys sometimes bump into and how do you solve them? The majority of the "problems" I run into are not generally worth mentioning. Someone needs a forum thread, or someone has a simple question about a role or policy. That is probably ~90% or more of the types of questions I get, but, the biggest problems for sure are the drama. There is always some sort of drama happening, and even though it's not the bulk of my work, it takes up the bulk of my time. Haven't figured out how to solve that one.

@AdorableBabyDemon Hi there. I guess like Mon Bon I still feel like mostly a listener with knowledge of how to do things. People ask me how to apply to be a member leader or room supporter or some other role. In some ways I feel like a big brother or sister that just gives my soccer ball to my sib.
