Christmas Eve: How Are You Celebrating?

My family and I aren't really into celebrating Christmas. So, there's nothing special for Christmas Eve. Just like any other day, my parents went out for groceries, try to refill our pantry after returning from vacation last week, fridge is empty. Hoping there won't be big crowds as stores are under Holiday Hours and will close early. 

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, as there will be free Christmas meal for staff in our cafeteria. I heard from coworkers that in the previous years, the food was good. 

Yesterday, my cousin tried to ask my family out for lunch for tomorrow. When I said I couldn't and needed to work, her mum then messaged my parents and asked about today. Since we went to eat with my Aunt on Monday for lunch already, my parents told her they already have plans. So, now, we might not meet up for a Christmas family dinner. My Aunt wanted to include my younger cousin, who moved to New York with his girlfriend for work earlier this year. But he doesn't come back until a late flight Christmas Eve, and he's brought his dog too. Which he doesn't wasn't to leave him at home by himself, so, no date is set yet. If the forecast is accurate with possibly snow in the last few days of December my Aunt might not arrange for us to meet for a meal afterall.

Right now, I am currently celebrating by cleaning. I did both of the bathrooms, I still need to do the dishes, I vacuumed, dusted, mopped, swept, and so much more. Ah, exhausting, but it will be worth it in the end. On to the questions, lol.

What is one small thing you do only on Christmas Eve?

We open up one early present that is always matching jammies for the girls, that are always super comfy and Christmas themed. And the boys usually either get some matching jammies, or something else. But that's our Christmas Eve tradition. 

Do you feel ready for the big day tomorrow?

I think everything will be fine tomorrow. Something I've been struggling with this Christmas, is that I'm not feeling the joy of Christmas. It feels like every other day. Like it will come and go just like any other Thursday. So I am ready, and I'm hoping I'll wake up with my same old Christmas spirit and everything will be a blast. 

 What is the "official" Christmas Eve meal in your world?

Usually, we eat Clam Chowder every year, and I think we're doing it today too, but nobody has started cooking so maybe there's a different plan, lol.

🎁 What is the "official" Christmas Eve meal in your world?… We have no official Christmas “Eve” meal. The actual meal is prepared on Christmas Day itself. And my mom prepares both Ham & Turkey, with a plethora of sides & fixings to go along with it… On Christmas “Eve”, I prepare finger-foods, appetizers,  Hors d'oeuvres, with holiday punch.

go to christmas eve service  at church we look forward to that every year we just got home from the one this year

we do nothing on Christmas day other them we get something spiecal to eat we been alone most Christmas sent we move but better then being with family as they like get into fights when ever fsmilys together there away drinking too we not want to be around that seeing we been sober since jan 2 3006

really not have one

when young did not either only meal was on Christmas day until grandpa died that meal was very big one with most the family too but after he died things changed a lot we did not get together with most the family most just did it at their home not a big gathering like before

I watched the live broadcast of the service from the Vatican.  Now I'm watching Die Hard.

I'm just miserable.  I had gifts for everyone this time.  Usually I don't have anything for anyone.  My mom and I left her house to meet with the family and she rushed me out so fast I left the gifts at her house.  We had pizza and it was cold because they insisted on eating the salad first, so the pizza just sat there for almost half an hour.  Now I'm alone as usual and we don't get together on Christmas day, which is good, because I can take only so much of those people (my sister, brother-in-law, niece, etc.).
