Leadership Spotlight: AnnaSilverberg

This month’s spotlight is on an incredible mentor, @AnnaSilverberg. Anna is fairly new to our listener community, having joined us last October, but she has made a hugely positive impression on the community as both an earnest listener and a leader. Also worth noting: if you’re looking for some guidance from a Quality Mentor, Anna also has extra experience as a grad from QLP, you’d be in great hands!

From the nominator: Anna is such an awesome person overall! She is always supporting people in the Listener Support Room, welcoming new listeners, and offering comforting words to listeners having a hard time. I also know that she is an awesome presence in the Trauma Community, helping out with the DID discussions and supporting members. Anna has also recently joined the Quality Mentor team and, from what I have heard, she is doing amazingly well. Her mentors love her. Anna is just one of those people that you meet and feel instantly comfortable with. She has such a sweet nature and her heart is to genuinely support those who cross her path - whether members or listeners.

What motivates you to be a volunteer?
The things that motivate me to volunteer are that I can provide support to someone who needs it, I can listen to someone who's perhaps never felt heard or listen to a person who has never shared their story with anyone in the fear of being rejected or judged but receiving the opposite. Care, kindness, support and validation. And to support listeners in their roles here, be it new listeners that are starting their wonderful listener journey or listeners who need support in their ongoing journey. We all need support at some point in our lives and that goes for our listeners journey as well, and I like that I'm able to do that for other listeners

Proudest 7 Cups achievement:
My listener journey has been a wonderful one, where one role has lead to another one and I have to say that I am very proud of every role that I have. My proudest achievement would be when I became a Quality Mentor. It is something I had wanted to do for a while, to help listeners grow and support them in their journey. I'm very passionate about this community, so I want the absolute best for it.

Which fellow 7 Cups leader(s) do you admire and why?
Fellow Leaders that I admire, oh wow! Well, there isn't only one leader. Because I am inspired by many here. 7Cups is filled with so many inspiring and amazing leaders that are absolutely amazing! I admire so many leaders here that the list would be pretty long and there would be a whole lot of reading

@YourCaringConfidant who is just as filled with positivity as I am, I admire her quality to point out the positive aspect that everyone has and her ways of supporting members and listeners in the forums. Then there's @Fristo, the positivity star of 7Cups. Fristo is so passionate about bringing positivity to the community and I absolutely admire that. I admire @Jenna, they're an amazing person who's always true to themselves. And @InternalAcceptance inspires me with their passion for this amazing Community and its safety.

Which active listening skills help you when communicating with your teammates and fellow leaders?
The active listening skills I do find myself using are asking questions because I really like understanding. I am supportive, and encouraging and I do like using positivity. I am probably using others as well, but those are the ones who come to mind when reading this question.

What’s next for you on your 7 Cups journey?
I have some ideas of what I would like to do next on my journey, but as nothing is set in stone yet, I can't answer this one. I do keep an open mind because my listener journey has been absolutely amazing and I look forwards to seeing where it will take me next. So perhaps this is a "To be continued.." thing : )
