How about Atomic Habits by James Clear?
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Yeah
I also really liked his bonus guide: How to apply atomic habits to parenting
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
I had once started this book but never got chance to complete it. So i would love to read it again and complete it this time.
@pandanfe
Aw that happens with me sooo very often lol. No worries though, it is actually one of those books one doesn't necessarily have to "complete" and be done with hehe, it's such a handy book, we can keep refreshing and turning back to as often possible as well. Happy reading. :D
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Yea, i actually liked that book even though i didn't complete it. and when it comes to self-help books, it's better to keep revisiting. or atleast going through the summaries on youtube if you don't wanna read again. it's a good refresh.
@pandanfe
Yusss!
"The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk M.D.
@Hapra I'm reading that now. Excellent book.
What a great idea!
@Holmes33 maybe the bell jar by sylvia plath??
@deimnee Excellent novel. I've read it numerous times despite years of mental health providers telling me to throw it away. Plath's poems are great too.
@Holmes33 how to join the bookculb?
A very good question i was planning on making a separate chat for it but i haven't been much active here
@Holmes33
Seems nice 😁
@Holmes33 You should read "***" by Dante Aligieri. After *** you can read the 2nd book "Purgatory" and the 3rd "Paradise". These books are written by Dante Aligieri
I couldn't get the first name but I'll try the series i just got hands on daughter of Rumi by Paulo cohelo
@Holmes33 Paolo Coelho I have read a book from this author. It was "The alchemist" and it's a very good book. You must read it.
@Holmes33 I would say either 'The Power of Now' or 'The Count of Monte Cristo'
The Power of Now analyzes why were should focus on the present and finding ways to enhance the moment and stay focused in the current time. It is a powerful book.
The Count of Monte Cristo, while a long one, details a romantic story of hardship, betrayal, and a slow course of lustful and generous revenge. Does the main character go about finding his past lover and seeking revenge on those that imprisoned him in the wrong way? I still havent been able to decide!
Let me know of any other good choices!
Ethan
That is a very interesting story i think i might just start it after finishing my current one and I have heard about power of now wait i think i have it I'll check and read it as well but The count of Monte Cristo comes 1st
Thank you very much Ethan for you i recommend The forty rules of love by Elif shafak you'll delve into another world i guarantee it's about Maulana Rumi and Shams of Tabraiz
Regards
Holmes
@Holmes33 thank you for your comment! I would definitely suggest reading the unabridged version of the Count because it definitely has a lot more pungent and juicy details that you wouldnt get if you were to read the abridged version - it is significantly longer, but it is definitely worth it.
I have not read the power of now for some time, as I found it online and read it during my undergrad, but it was a very good personal growth book that i used during times of stress and when trying to figure out what to do in the present moment.
Thank you for your suggestion! I have already purchased it and it is on its way. I will get to it eventually, but I could not give you a ETA of when I will lol. I read the wiki page and the synopsis reads beautifully. Can you give me some more details on it that I might have missed?
E
@Holmes33. I read a good book called “Maybe you should talk to someone “ written by Lori Gottlieb.
I'll try it out what's it about
@Holmes33. It’s a memoir about a therapist who goes to therapy and experiences with her patients.
As a psychology student i think it'll be good for me
