There are so many ways of doing this… Tell us things like:
The genre you’re looking for (YA, dystopian, historical)
The title or plot of a book you like, so we can give you similar book recs (The Book Thief, Little Lord Fauntleroy, Chasing Vermeer)
The time period you like to read about (The Gold Rush, Medieval Europe, ancient Egypt, the Civil Rights Movement)
Give us a mood or atmosphere you’re looking for (cozy and autumncore, mysterious, encouraging, gentle)
Ask for a specific character (strong female lead, talking animals, a child with autism, a girl who loves to read)

I'm not sure if this will fit what you're looking for but, I remember bringing up this book in my psychology class a few months ago, The Shining. It has something to do with personality as I the book, the main character goes through a lot and his mental health decays as a result. I'm sorry if this didn't help, it was just the first thing I thought of.
I enjoy books in the Sci-fi and Fantasy genres. I'm looking for some good recommendations for books with Fairies in them (go figure, haha). Preferably as a main character. I usually read adult books, but I'm open to YA books too.

well. I accidentally found a solution to my own request lol. Ghosts, Alibis, and Apple Pies from the Michelle Bishop Series has loads of apple pies for me, without romance being the main focus 😁

@jesusredeemedme2425 basically, it is a mystery story about a young girl who finds herself in a car crash with a girl she hated each other with, and only she makes it out alive. The ghost of the girl now hangs out with her, since she is the only one who can see her for some reason. Neither of them knows what happened and why they even got in the same car, and are trying to figure out what now, when suddenly the local apple pie eating contest our main character is helping out with gets postponed over a murder or the local pie eating champion. Now Michelle (the mc) has two ghosts to deal with, trying to solve the case without loosing her sanity to ghosts, apple pies and small town drama

I'm looking for your favorite as author who has a fast paced easy quick read, or an author who has a generally fast paced series. Ideally books made into a movie. A little scary is ok, romance is fine, but not horror. Is this too general?
Not fast paced specifically, but really quick reads and draws you in. The Giver series is soooo good! There’s 4 books. I’ve read 3 <3

I am very weird with books. I don't read a lot of fiction anymore. My favorite author for most of my life has been Kurt Vonnegut. He's just an incredible storyteller. Every book of his is a delight, but I particularly liked Sirens of Titan and Cat's Cradle. Slaughterhouse Five is a classic, but is also a banned book, in case you go for that kind of thing. I read it for the first time in high school.
My favorite author since reading The Handmaid's Tale for the first time is Margaret Atwood. I absolutely love that book, and have read it maybe 50 times. But she wrote a trilogy that is absolutely dear to my heart. If you love dystopian tales, I would start with Oryx and Crake. The trilogy is called MaddAddam, and Oryx and Crake is the first in the trilogy. Such a stellar book, such a fabulously woven story . How all of these things came to her mind, how she intricately wrote these books, I have no idea but they are my very favorite.
So I am looking for dystopian fiction. I like it if the subject matter shocks me in a psychological way (like The Handmaid's Tale did), so I like more adult fiction. However, if it's a great story, young adult does just fine.
Oryx and Crake was a required reading book for one of my college classes, but I never read it lol
Hmm… Maybe “The Book of a Thousand Days” might be up your alley. It’s not QUITE dystopian fiction, but I think it might be your speed. <3

No way, really?? Hmm...a woman I met 17 years ago told me about it. I wonder if it was something she had to read in school as well. You should definitely read it. It's such a good book. The story is so unique and so well-told. What class was it going to be for?
What would be even more fun? If you do a "book club" and read it together. My SO and I are doing that right now. We are reading The Art of War, Marcus Aurelias, and Seneca. I could use a book break in a big way. 😵

I'm looking for....something that depicts a lot of struggle but with a happy ending. Is that too general? xD. How about this: a gentle book. Those are always the loveliest, the gentle ones.
I do have some things to avoid though. I'm not allowed books with these qualities, please bear with this restricted teen! xD no romance, no swears, no mentions of intimacy, no fantasy (magic etc).. i think that's all. And a personal request from me, no making me grieve the loss of a character, please? even background characters who appear for 0.2 seconds. Let them live!
I seem picky with my books! xD really, tell me anything that follows the restrictions and I'll probably love it. Books are great.

@Torean you might like it. I, who have never read any horror before, read it and was thoroughly and absolutely horrified. It's been two years. The book is in my home. I don't dare to touch it xD

@Torean hmmmm. Hunted was messed up, and Gallows hill too. Probably my two most memorable ones I heard from her (I love to listen to her stuff as audiobooks when I do my little handmades)
Hunted is about a young girl who goes missing in the woods and her friends and brother set off to the wild to try and save her since the local police isn't very helpful. But something is lurking among the trees.
Gallows hill is about a young girl suddenly learning she inherited her parents winery, who sent her away when she was a child. But the property comes with its own curse and the dead aren't resting in peace. Can she survive once the bells ring?
Both are great for very different reasons, but I can't say more not to spoiler the plots 😁 let me know if you read any of them what you thought 😊
