Relationships are not here to teach us lessons. It's here to teach us not to get lessons.

Failures and lessons are the result of expectations. When you try to achieve something called results, which you are always expecting from the whatever kind of relations between whoever by applying formulas is not the nature. If your calculations and formulas turns wrong, then you call it a lesson. If it goes right, then you pat yourself for your decisions. But, if you watch closely, it's only our expectations caused fluctuations called misunderstanding between reality and lessons. Relationships are here to not to get lessons. If you keep getting lessons from everyone, then it wouldn't be yourself, but the mix of everyone's decision. Just sit back and watch my dear co existing living being. Enjoy! (P.S - it's a good habit to question someone's experience and thoughts) enjoy! Keep it up.

@Optimisticempath

It taught me the importance of self-love & healthy boundary that was lacking in me whilst I was in that relationship.

I won't entirely blame the media, TV shows, etc for glorifying love without reciprocation - because we as humans have choices & most of the time we choose to compromise but they do promote such stuff.

Lesson learned: I need to set a healthy boundary between me & my partner to protect my dignity & to start loving myself more than anyone else. And I don't find it being selfish, rather it's self-care.

Hey, thanks for the tag @lyricalAngel70 , love your answer, setting healthy boundaries is amazing and self care is vital, never selfish, you go lovely beingg❤🤗

As for me, a lesson I'd say is that communicate all feelings, even if those are not super upbeat, speak up when something bothers you , super okay to do so ( still learning this hehe xD).🙈

@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Hey, pleasure is all mine. ❤

Hahahahaha, is someone blushing?? 🙈💜
Jokes apart, I agree that communication is the key to every relationship on this earth. Bottling up feelings only leads to confusion, doubts and even a breakup

Not to be so ignorant as to believe all those who I meet

@Optimisticempath To say no and advocate for things to be mutual early on. As someone who is sometimes seen as a "good listener" to try to talk and share more of my stresses if the other person is venting a lot or to express that I do not feel up to supportive listening when feeling tired. I do not regret breaking up with my ex but would like to practice being more open and asking for what I want with a new partner who is more kind and considerate.

I learned the difference between 'complaining' and 'criticizing' - how the former is necessary and the latter is detrimental.

A lessen I learned from my last relationship is: don't stick around with someone if you don't actually, truly like them!
I know that's a no-brainer, but with my people-pleasing mindset it's actually sort of difficult and something I am working on.

- Its important you assess your relationship sooner than later.

- Don't ignore your gut feeling.

- After you think its going great. Sit back and think of your core values, ask questions and see if the future aligns or not.

- See if they take time to call you or text you or take interest in your life.
