Book/eBook Update
All - I've been hard at work on our new, free, book - 7 Cups for the Searching Soul. I've shared it with a few people and the feedback has been pretty positive, so I'm feeling encouraged. Here is a quick overview of my current plan:
1. Finish making edits and cleaning it up over this weeked.
2. Share with team over the weekend.
3. Share with community leadership teams next week.
4. Make any updates.
5. Share with community!
For each of these stages, I'll share it as a google doc where people can make comments. Once we have it to a solid place, we'll add it as a new guide. We'll also add a forum category for the book, a new section for each chapter, and then threads for each section. We'll then ask everyone to participate via the comments to add further clarifications, points, "thought stops", and other exercises.
This book is very much like our site. We are launching a strong solid version (probably a 7-8 on a scale of 1-10) and then we'll ask for everyone's help to make it a 10. The goal is a big one. We want to make this the very best self-help book. Yes, that's right, we want to make this book incredibly helpful. It'll always be free, we'll translate it, and we'll keep evolving it to make it better. There will always be a published version and then there will be evolving versions. Once we agree on certain additions, then we'll add it to the published version.
When we all feel good about it, we'll start the translation process as well. I'm really excited about this and I can't wait to share it with all of you! Looking forward to working with you all on this :)
that is very exciting!!
@Eunoia i have! does wattpad allow anonymous comments?
Not anonymous but you can make profiles that are totally anonymous with your own anonymous username and image, like here! I'd recommend sharing it on that website too, you can advertise 7 Cups through it!
@GlenM
This sounds exciting:)
does anyone know how to enable anonymous comments on google docs? i'm happy to use another platform as well if there is one that works better. thanks!
@JaceofSpades (Sorry, I tag you in anything tech-related now :p)
There is a way to make Google Docs anonymous, and possibly even closed to editing so it's only open to comments!
I donno enough so I'm tagging Jace for you @GlenM :D
@AdVictoriam thank you! @JaceofSpades, this is exactly what we'd need. Commenting, but no edits.
@GlenM In the document sharing menu, you'll find advanced sharing options. Set the option to: Anyone with the link can Comment(No sign-in required)
@Aarnav thank you! if someone is logged in, does it display as their logged in name? or can they choose an option to comment anonymously. I'll look at this now. thank you!
Okay, just tested this and it works great. We just need to make sure people logout of google before commenting. Thanks again!
@GlenM If they are logged in, their name will be associated.. and I don't know about any option that can let them comment anonymously once they are logged in.
@Aarnav
I always use my browser's (firefox) private mode for 7cups stuff, docs too. Even if I'm signed in, it'll display me as an anonymous user.
@Liz1000 Oh yeah! Never observed that before. Thank you :)
@GlenM I'm glad it helped :)
@GlenM You can just have people able to comment using the link, and then whoever goes on who is not logged into a Google account or who is not specifically shared with will be "Anonymous (ANIMAL NAME)"
I'll look into it for you after work. I'm sure it's possible.

@GlenM
Aw I tried haha.
Check this video out for anonymous commenting.
It's a case of signing out mainly though and then returning to the document as a guest basically.
That's awesome!!
really looking forward to it!
Awesome! I'm super excited for this
@GlenM
That looks amazing ! Though I just had a question , what does the book talk about ? Like our community in general or..( sorry if i am rushing too much xD ) and I would love to contribute in the translation process If needed <3
@gracefulSong70 - i haven't got to read it yet but from chatting with Glen it's not about our community itself but it is about the values and principles that make 7 Cups what it is.
That is, the philosophy of both the book and this overall project are the same.
@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn
I see , thanks , and I am very excited to see that project coming to hands soon ^..^
@gracefulSong70 - me too!
I already like this idea. This ebook will be very different from other retail self-help books. :)
@GlenM
Would the book be like a guide that will help people engage easier, better into the actual 7 Cups platform or it will be by itself a guide that uses the principles 7 Cups uses?
I'm not sure I understood very well. Or if my question is very clear haha! Just curious if after reading the book the idea is to come to www.7cups.com for help or not necessarily.
I'm interested to see it and comment on it!
P.S. Most people here don't have usernames related to their real names so I don't think it would be such a bad thing to let people logged into their real accounts - but only telling them NOT to mention their 7 Cups usernames ...
@cristiana33 - it is a guide using the same principles, and it does talk about this platform but it is not focused on the site/app (though it does welcome readers to join us, of course!)
It would be great to contribute anonymously.
I am unsure if I have anything to offer though. :/
@King0fclubs everyone is unique with their own perspective so we all have something to offer ^_^ Bet yours will be awesome!
