Help Us Teach Noni About 7 Cups

Did you know that we made forums because listeners let us know that we needed a place to better keep our knowledge?

We kept having discussions in the chatrooms that would inform the way we govern the site, then we'd forget about those ideas and have to have the same discussions over and over again. The forums were originally a way of capturing that knowledge. Then, the policies that govern the site would emerge from the discussion in the forums. In that way the forums are like our collective long-term memory.

The forums are not ideal for everything. We then started branching off to Google docs, especially for training information. We cataloged information in other ways too.

Having good long-term memory is key! What is also very important is the ability to retrieve that information. The search functionality in the forum is one way that we enable that retrieval to happen. One challenge with search is that you get a lot of information that can be difficult to comb through.

Well, thankfully, we will soon have another mechanism for information retrieval. And this can happen across the forum, google docs, self-help guides and anything else that we want to cover. Noni will soon have the ability to ingest/read all of this information and then provide an answer to specific questions that we have. Imagine if Noni could answer questions like:

-How do I become a peer supporter?
-What is the criteria to become an active listener?
-How can 7 Cups help me manage depression? anxiety? or substance use?

When a person asks Noni a question, it will convert the question into a string of numbers. This is called an embedding. It will then search through all the forums that we identify, all our training materials, google docs etc. and look for the information that is the best match to that string of numbers. If the information it has in long-term memory is a good match, then it will grab that information to share with the person.

What I need help with is teaching Noni. Imagine she turns on this FAQ ability. What FAQs do we want her to answer? What other information do we want her to learn?
