Just using the new website for the first time - at first glance i can understand people saying it's "too white" but i personally prefer the clean feel to it. I adore the rounded corners on everything... makes everything look like little bubbles rather than the harsh pointed edges. I'm still getting used to the navigation, but i'm sure i will love it eventually. I haven't found anything too hard to find so far.

Is the 'Mood Boost' section brand new? I LOVE IT! What a brilliant idea - i'm going to be on there all the time. I put 'Be Still' on as i was looking over the new site, and it was amazingly calming. So excited about that feature.

I hope everyone gets used to it, and that any little bugs/glitches can be chased away asap. Change can be alarming or scary, but this one looks and feels great. Well done 7cups team angel

@IzzieBelle

The Mood Boost section is a bit new (we just updated a bunch of the mindulness exercises, which is what it is), but it's got a new name and organization now, and of course these exercises come up on a member's growth path as well.

I love love loooove the forums! Great job! It's super easy to find things now and the auto tag thingy is a really great idea.

It'd be lovely to see some of the old features though, like the list of notifications, picture of self in the chatroom;time stamp

And also,the old version was super mobile friendly! I hope you fix these things soon.

*big hugs* Amazing amazing job guys! :D

PS: It'd be better if you could change the site gradually,step by step. The forums are great now so maybe you could add the new forum feature to the older version?

Does that make any sense? •.•

@chioo

great feedback, thanks. let me take these one at a time (just realized I owe @Anomalia similar detailed feedback):

> It'd be lovely to see some of the old features though, like the list of notifications

This is currently missing from mobile, right? We'll fix that soon.

> picture of self in the chatroom

Please tell me more about how you use that picture?

>;time stamp

Time stamps are in 1-1 chats but we tried to declutter group support and timestamps don't show there till I think a day passes. We did this because group chat tends to move fast in realtime so exact time seems less important but agan please tell me more about how you use it so we can understand better thanks!

> And also,the old version was super mobile friendly! I hope you fix these things soon.

Yes, that is a huge priority!

> PS: It'd be better if you could change the site gradually,step by step. The forums are great now so maybe you could add the new forum feature to the older version?

I agree. That is the best way and we will do that whenever we can. We were planning even bigger changes and improvements to forums for example in this release but realized we were trying to do too much at once.

This one was always going to be major because it touches everything. It also gave us a chance to clean up some longstanding annoying bugs and lay the groundwork for some pretty sweet fixes and improvements to come.

Nonetheless, I agree with you that gradual change is best and that is our usual goal!

> Does that make any sense? •.•

All of it, yes! And thank you again.

I still would like to press the idea of having design options in the settings tab. (that way we can all have a 7Cups look we like [or that won't make our eyes hurt] so we an get the color issue out of the way) No bugs presented themselves to me yet, which is good. I really adore that idea of the ability to pick the design/theme for our own personal devices, that way we can all be happy with the look! ( i have read and herd alot of the issues with this update have been about the look/appearance of it)

LOVE YOU GUYS <3

When I move my pointer to the flag icon on a listener's profile page nothing happens and I can't determine what country the flag represents. When I open the profile page I can't find the country either.

As other listeners have already mentioned, I find the light gray font difficult to read. I suggest changing the font to black or at least to a darker gray. The white font in the blue bubbles in the chat screens is also a challenge. Using a uniformly black or dark gray font throughout the website would be an improvement. The design for the old chat dialog boxes was also easier for me to manage. I don't see any advantage at all to the new format using bubbles on the left and right side of the screen, and two different colors.

October 1st, 2015

I think the new format is great thank you for all of your hard work on it. Love the new mood boosts and how things are far more organised :D

As others have said about the colors etc already I won't go into it too much but wanted to let you know that it is no longer a disabled friendly site. Those with vision problems are being shut out and I myself (who has epilepsy) is finding it impossible to spend more then 5 - 10 minutes here at a time before getting an aura (seizure warning) It is an issue very personal to my health condition but wanted to raise it (not that I think you can make the site perfect for everyone) but just so you were aware it was an issue. Feedback has been submitted too.

@Rycochet I believe you have a huge point. Part of what will help the new layout become more user friendly would be to changing the font to something a little more sturdy and inviting and reducing the color palette brightness—let's hope the developers hear our concerns.

@Rycochet

@KrinkTheMellowUnicorn I personally think the update looks great and you did an awesome job on it. But there are a few things that I would like to see to make it perfect:

I Would like to see the amount of cheers that listeners have on the browse listeners page

And in the conversation box, I'd like a way to switch between conversations more easily like in the old design

One more thing, could the profile pictures be a bit bigger?

Thank you for everything you dooooo heart

I'm pleased to see that 7 Cups decided to revamp their site! However, I'd like to talk more about the technical design aspects in the renovation that I fear will hinder the usability of the site:
-Font. I like the idea that it's airier, but now it's less legible because how how thin it is. It might be beautiful on Retina displays but it's too hard to read on standards. I suggest using something that perhaps isn't as bulky as the old font, but something a little more friendly and gentle than the sharp quality of this one.
-Layout. There's a rule in typography that a line of text should not extend a certain length so that the reader doesn't lose focus. The new layout provides plenty of room, but with the combination of the current font and its spacing, it's makes the reading flow very difficult. I suggest tweaking it so that the overall space that isn't text becomes less overwhelming.
-Colors. I like the bright, optimistic approach with the blues and whites, but stark change might feel a bit sterile, as a few have mentioned already. It's cleaner than the old green and beige color scheme, but it offered a coziness that the new scheme doesn't. Perhaps reincorporating a few more warmer elements will help ease this.
-Graphics. I enjoy this part very much—it really highlights a user's progress and overall stats of the site. Again, though—some of the thinner lines could use more weight.

Thanks for reading through this! I know I had a lot to say—apologies for hogging up the thread!

One thing we did at first with the Quicksand font was overcorrect and frankly make it too black, but the poor thing was just too spindly in the end, so we are currently trying out a slightly more substantial and less \/\/ide typeface called Raleway.

However, the text is still much more black right now than recommended on the web and this contrast has the side effect of making the white seem more white!

We are still tuning it in and will push an update by tomorrow and continue asking for feedback. If we can't make Raleway work we will fall back to a more conventional typeface.

It might be cool if people could block typefaces in their browser so they'd get the next fallback from the CSS automatically.

Agreed! The line lengths are too long. We are looking at the max number of grid columns (out of 12) we should allow a line of type to fill. Feels like around 8 and no more than 10 at the right size. We'll keep you posted on this, too.

This is a good suggestion and we'll look for opportunities to do that. I have some ideas....
