Don't Let Fear Stop You
Are you familiar with the situation that you want to do something, maybe accepted a new work position or joined a club to meet new people, but you didn’t?
For many of us, what’s holding us back is fear – fear of not achieving our dreams, fear of what it might take to reach them, and of course, fear of failure.
By shifting our thoughts to planning and action steps, we can fight our fears. Research has shown that the dissipation of fear comes not just with the carrying out of action, but even by just the starting of it.
How do you take action even when you’re scared?
Don’t fight your fear; define it
Take one step at a time
Get used to feeling the adrenaline - don’t run from it
Develop self-awareness of your mental blocks and body signals
Journal - write down your fears and anxieties to see them for what they are
Practice maintaining a state of mind that can accept change
Participation self-awareness exercise:
1. I am strong in these areas ….
2. I struggle with …
3. My favourite things in my life are …
4. The most stressful things in my life are …
5. I would like some help with …

3 reasons you’re not doing what you say you’ll do
Fear is one of the most basic human emotions, fear helps to protect us from real dangers. What is not helpful is to fear things we imagine to be true. If you find yourself struggling with fear and anxiety more than usual and it prevents you for an extended period of time from living a healthy life, please consult your doctor or talk to a therapist to get help.

@amiablePeace77, this is such a reflective post !! Fear is definitely one of those emotions which most of us don't know what to do with. Reading this was striking . Also thank you for sharing other resources too😺
@amiablePeace77
Love this soo much! It does come down to fear or trying or diving in or giving something new a chance …. You are not alone it is very common.
I need to get stronger physically so I can stay as functional as possible it is some day or one day … I too get into that cycle and then regret the leap to say I need help or find a trainer who does functional fitness that suits me in my area…
it is on the list I just have to dive in and give it a try and even if not successful it’s okay failures lead to beautiful moments along your journey in life and propel you to greater things through the connections you make … 💕💕💕💕

Fear is something I'm overly familiar with. It's part of who I am and fuels my depression, anxiety, social anxiety, body image issues, anger issues, and everything else that goes on in my head. Using this site after what happened before gives me a lot of fear, but I'm never able to delete the account and trying to stay away makes me feel worse. I've tried for months to delete it but it never deletes. I'm surprised I've been able to go so long without impulsively looking at the profile of the person who traumatized me here. If anyone can tell me how to actually delete my account I would really appreciate it because as This site and a group of people on it I was hurt in a way I had feared but didn't think could be possible because I thought she was better than that. This site does a lot of good for a lot of people everyday, but I've had more than i bargained for and I don't want to be on here anymore.
@Lockhart
If what I wrote doesn't make sense it's because I had to cut out parts so I could post it without being flagged for self harm
@Lockhart
I’m very sorry for whatever happened to you that left you traumatized, it must have been incredibly hard for you.
I agree with you that this site does a lot of good for people everyday and if you need a friend, I’m here for you, hugs (if accepted).
If you, however, feel that you need to leave I would suggest deactivating the account or if you want to get it deleted completely writing a letter to 7 Cups of Tea, CO (“7 Cups”), mailing address PO Box 5607, San Jose, CA 95150. Please see also "Terms of Service" on your dashboard.
@Lockhart I am sorry you are struggling with a traumatic event. This can release all kinds of negative emotions. Have you considered getting a therapist and or professional help?
