Emotional wellbeing is the capacity to deal with stress when it arises, not the absence of it. It’s about how well you can handle whatever life throws at you without losing your balance.

The quality of our life is ultimately determined not by what happens, but how we feel about it. Emotionally well people actually live better lives!

Seeking Help

Mental stress can cause us not to be able to see the good things in life and lead to excessive rumination or worries which can result in serious health problems. If you have serious, long-term problems with negative thinking and feeling depressed, see your doctor or talk to a therapist if they are related to any mental challenges.

Trying to get to a point where I feel emotions again and that frightens me. Ok, that terrifies me. I've suppressed them for so long, they will hit me like a semi truck when they are unblocked.

@courageouspanda2006 that sounds like a rough situation. I am trying to get familiar with my emotions and what leads up to them but it seems to be taking a lot of time.

@soulsings

I'm thankful that it is a slow process. I just hope it is a slow and even flow of progress, not opening the flood gates.

I'm trying to find ways to feel safe to cry, to express the emotions I've been struggling with. I'd also like to change my environment, because that can affect mood.

@Zeraphim

We all need a safe place where we just can be ourselves, let go of all the pressure, cry and find peace again. I hope you will find this place soon 💙

Finding emotional balance can take time especially when many things happened in life and still need to be processed. I believe you're doing a great job in trying to stay positive tiny, for yourself and also for others! 💙

Hi, Ami,

What do you need to feel emotionally safe?

What are you currently doing to protect your emotional well-being?

To feel emotionally safe I need a world of peace.  That will not happen in my life time.  I have PTSD so I don't think my needs will ever be met.

I try to tell myself that I can do it.  I'm also leaving room for myself to take breaks in life.

@purpleTree4652

We might not always be able to fully heal from what happened to us but we can learn to cope well and live a happy life. I hope that will happen for you.

Our minds believe that we tell them, so keep repeating "I can do it" - you can and don't forget your breaks!

@amiablePeace77

I guess finding all ways that make us feel joyful and nurture ourselves ensures emotional wellness. That line is so right when it says, it's not what happens to us but how we respond is what matters, that is the core philosophy of Stoicism.

I feel it's important to be simply occupied sometimes! Our inner world is like a sauna, it's good to be with it but not for too long it's also important to engage with people who cherish you. Additionally, musical instruments and workout are great ways of feeling good. And more than that, knowing when your body needs rest and ensuring it without considering it a luxury, believe we all try to strive for balance in these areas.

Knowing when your body needs rest and ensuring it without considering it a luxury - These are wise words. Maybe something to put on a board to hang up somewhere!

This is such a great question! 🌟

1. What I need to feel emotionally safe
🌿 The ability to be authentic—knowing I can share my real thoughts and feelings without judgment or pressure to perform.

2. What I’m currently doing to protect my emotional well‑being
🌳 Setting boundaries: carving out quiet time, limiting draining interactions, and communicating my limits so I can recharge and stay grounded.

Thank you for sharing these 2 important points! Nothing is more important for a person as to be able to live an authentic life without fear to be judged.

@amiablePeace77 what I need to feel emotionally safe is honesty and being surrounded by kindness and uplifting people, I can't tolerate fakeness 🥰

I can very much relate to what you are saying! Fakeness hurts but sometimes people are scared to be authentic because of social norms.

@amiablePeace77 I onr hundred percent do see the courage it takes to be authentically yourself in a world that's becoming increasingly similar and confirmative. I concede that point 🥰
