Belonging
A basic human need that has a big effect on mental health, emotional well-being, and general life satisfaction is to feel like you belong.
Where do you feel belonging? What makes you feel you belong?

I am unsure

I think it can happen in life that we do not really know whether we belong or not at some point. To me good questions to ask are "What do I value?" "What matters most?" "What makes me feel safe and connected?". If the feeling of not knowing if you belong or not lasts for a longer time it might help to reach out for guided support.
Here is a video that can be helpful: A sense of belonging
I'm still looking for that place.
@courageouspanda2006
I hope you will find it soon! How would it look like?
@amiablePeace77
I'm not sure. I've always felt out of place, even in grade school. I was always the tallest in the class. Classmates thought I was a teacher or undercover cop. Yes, I was actually told that. I've always stood out in a crowd when I just want to blend in. To disappear. To be normal.
🐼 That used to happen to me too; I'd be mistaken for a substitute teacher. I think it's also an 'old soul ' thing. You're definitely not alone//it's okay to be different

I feel like I belong in my family.
My faith makes me feel like I belong.
My community makes me feel like I belong.
My local parish and football team makes me feel like I belong.
💕💕
I feel belonging when I am with my family.
My university makes me feel like I belong to the university.
@amiablePeace77 Where do you feel belonging? What makes you feel you belong?
I think much of our life is spent trying to belong, to be like other people, "to keep up with the Jones," to belong to a group of people with similar ideas, to belong to a group of people that think well of us, and when we are young, belonging in our family which is not always easy.
@soulsings
I hear you soul! To belong I needed to find those people you mentioned, those who understand me and appreciate my presence.
@amiablePeace77 I appreciate your presence and your presents! lol
I used to think I could live in solitude forever, that peace would come from being alone. But after a few years of isolating myself, barely engaging with anyone beyond basic needs, something in me has changed. I can’t go back to that level of disconnection anymore.
The truth is, I don’t really feel like I belong anywhere right now. But what makes me feel a sense of belonging, even if only for a moment, is when I find the courage to speak, to message someone, to reach out, to be seen. Even when it’s messy or impulsive.
I guess, for me, belonging isn't a place yet — it's a feeling I chase through connection. Even if I haven’t found “my people” or “my space,” the hunger for human touch and connection pushes me forward.
@amiablePeace77
Belonging is a shared experience, because you can't belong on your own. In my world, it was playing music along with others or singing in a choir, or preparing a community meal with others, or doing any kind of work together, often in joy and good cheer. Nowadays, I could add group chats, particularly with former colleagues, although we do nothing really. We belonged to each other a long time ago.
Actually, I like the idea of belonging to other people.
Where do you feel belonging? What makes you feel you belong?
@amiablePeace77
To be honest, I struggle with not feeling I belong anywhere. More like tolerate me. It is a mental imprint in my head from my past, and I have not yet learned to reject that thought.
Hanging out with people who are honest, kind, considerate, caring, compassionate, thoughtful, straight forward, supportive, fair, collaborative, share the same values, who communicate effectively with respect, who listen and reciprocate, who take turns and play fair, who are gracious, generous, forgiving, who want good things for everyone, who want everyone to live harmoniously, to be well, to be healthy, to be happy, who can be asked a request or hear feedback while maintaining emotional balance, stability, and healthy behaviour towards others.
In short, the opposite of the people I live with.
