Many people think about staying healthy this time of year in the northern winters. What we do for our body can have a positive effect on supporting our immune system or a negative effect if we do not support it very well.

  • What are you currently doing to support your immune system?

@soulsings

Keeping my immune system healthy is very important to me. I eat healthy, exercise, get enough fresh air and meditate daily. I try to keep my guts healthy by eating pre- and probiotic foods and limiting stress. For me meditation is a great way to calm the body and mind.

@soulsings Thank you for this thought-provoking prompt. Recently, I've been ensuring that I'm hydrated by drinking more herbal teas and water.

It's sometimes easy to overlook the small things that get give our immune system a boost, so I truly appreciate your post on this. 💓

Teaching my immune system which dangerous pathogens to look out for before getting infected so that they have the T cell memory to launch an immediate targeted antibody resistance as soon as it detects the associated pathogen it's primed to recognize if it enters my body, helping to stop a serious infection from spreading out of control. As a result, less risk of serious illness and long term negative health consequences.

That and trying to maintain the activities of daily living necessary to maintain a person, to varying degrees of success.

Mostly the things I'm doing lately focus moreso on suppressing or modulating it.

I do things like hand hygiene, minimizing crowded indoor places and masking in high risk situations to reduce infection risks.

I’m probably…. Definitely not doing enough. I try to get the right nutrition and I try to work hard at calming stress and anxiety. I have an autoimmune condition so I know it’s important to keep my body healthy and my mind calm…. But sometimes the body wants a greasy burger and the mind wants to worry about everything!

Eating healthy and exercising, taking walks in the fresh air every day. Trying to minimize stress although it is not something that we always can control, but I try to manage it and be more mindful when I am experiencing it. It is usually the small things that can do a lot for our health.

@Sunthruclouds

Have to add that when I was biking to work each day, regardless of weather, it kept me healthy. So that is something I want to get back to doing.

@soulsings

Only like 15 minutes when biking. Biking in winter is fun but also somewhat challenging with snow and ice.

Not nearly enough, and I know that but I think that subconsciously I just don't care and that is not good.

I just feel weary at the process. I have never had a good healthy body even as a child . I should do better but I don't.
