My anxiety has times of day that it increases. Usually when I wake up it’s intense. After I eat and move around a bit, it feels lighter. I noticed around 1-2pm and around 5-6pm it shifts too.

@peachThinker662

Feeling anxious in the morning after waking up can make it quite hard to face the day. I find morning affirmations and light exercise very helpful, and for the afternoon, very little or no caffeine.

 I’ll try those suggestions in the morning. It’s VERY difficult. And if I don’t follow through with the day I feel guilty and shameful.

I don’t take in caffeine ☺️

Often the beginning is very hard, and it can feel like it does not really make sense even for a while because one can't see changes straight away, but they are there. It's about staying on the path. It's not easy, but it will be rewarding after some time.

When the mind is anxious about all the stuff in the day ahead, it can become overwhelming to face the day. What helps you to calm down?

@RunningMachine

Loneliness can drain our energy and make us feel tired. I hope coming here helps to feel connected and less lonely.

Not having a place to live and having to be a great distance from where my doctors are its tough.I know from last time I spoke to my doctor regarding a fall I had the hospital I go to the staff is worried as well as I am but I am stuck I am not able to get there.

Some days, yes. Other days are so uneventful that I don't remember the day. Those days I refer to as Groundhog Days. 🙅🙃

Having some uneventful days in between can feel like a break from all the hustle. I hope there will not be too many though.

The simple answer is no. I understand I need a nap and will get it. I feel like I need that to charge up for the rest of the day.

To widen this discussion, however, I hear people have trouble falling asleep at night (or wake up in the middle of the night) with worries they cannot control in that moment. I used to have that problem for several years after my husband's passing.

If anyone has advice beyond a knock-me-over pill, I'd be glad to hear about it

@Fradiga

As to your question about falling asleep I like to give you 2 things that help me, but it might not be for everyone

1. Listening to sleep music

2. Consciously creating a "dream" about something that feels good until you fall asleep. It's about focusing on something good.

Sometimes even a small piece of dark chocolate helps.

I will remember that, particularly the dark chocolate 😀

Sometimes yes but even though it’s unhealthy it’s still common for humans. If it was all the time it’d be worse so I thank God everyday that it’s not on that level right now and never was.

@daydreammemories

I find that there is much less distraction in the evenings or at night; it's much quieter, so the mind might start to ruminate. Mindfulness practices and listening to supportive videos can help to redirect our thoughts to a more neutral or positive place.

The sun goes down, the dark follows only to create the beginning of a new day to live mindfully.

Yeah it makes sense. I do love nights though! Only the transition from day to night is sad haha. 💚 mindful helps for sure!

@amiablePeace77 My well-being can fluctuate greatly based on how other people treat me. It's not good, I know.

@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas

It can be difficult to stay balanced in a negative environment for sure. Some people can really "Push our buttons." I find practising mindfulness helped me to be less reactive.

@amiablePeace77 If you don't mind me asking, did mindfulness help you with self-esteem when it came to dealing with negative people? Or something else? Did it take some time? I do a couple different types of mindfulness meditation things, and they do help in a way for a little bit. I wrestle with long entrenched feelings that come back, I know where they come from. I think I'm doing pretty well, and then something new happens again, and before I know it I can feel myself sliding little by little. I know it's happening, I see it in slow motion and think I can plug the dam, but next thing I know I'm crashing. I actually do like who I am more now, but I still feel so hopeless when it comes to any kind of relationship.

@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas

Mindfulness affirmations, but also other things like learning to be more compassionate, being less self-critical, seeing what I have achieved, where I started on my path of healing, and where I am now helped me increase my self-esteem. I think it's a mixture of DBT and CBT skills.

To me, negative feelings that come back again and again are feelings that have not been acknowledged and processed the way they needed to be, so they open the door to triggers.

I'm glad that you feel that you're doing pretty well in general and hope that you find the support you need here to work on possible triggers.

@amiablePeace77 That makes a lot of sense that these certain feelings might not be acknowledged or processed the way I really need. I can see where I've grown in some ways but not as much in others. Thank you so much, I will reflect more on this.
