The scent of fresh cut grass is something that triggers positive memories in me.

  • What particular sensation, scent or taste reminds you of some time from your childhood ?
  • Does it immediately make you feel safe and comfortable?

For me it's the scent of cut grass too because it was a sign summer is on it's way. I never liked the cold.

@soulsings

For me a childhood memory is freshly cuts grass. My Dad was a landscaper and I always enjoyed mowing the lawn when I got old enough to push a lawn mower around with my Dad. I also love ocean breeze we use to spend our summers on an island called fire island on long island n.y. I use to always was at the beach enjoying the sun.

When I go to the beach now, I memorize things that I use to do in my chldhood and laugh silently at things that I enjoyed the most.

Summer rain, that earthy smell, it makes think of my childhood where my siblings were close and before my parents pretty terrible divorce that divided us. That summer rain reminds me of being together with siblings and parents were under the same roof. Sometimes I really despise feels. They just make a person hurt too much.

Orange or root beer popsicles always take me back to when I was very young, standing on our deck eating them and admiring the mountains. It makes me calm and mostly happy, but so.etimes sad. I miss the mountains!

My earliest memories are of my mother taking me outside for a carefree morning; blue skies and the scent of grass.grass-and-greem-field_1784208158.jpg

@soulsings

For me (and hear me out Lol), it's the sound of cicadas calling (screeching 🤣) that signal the beginning of summer, and remind me of the long summer days I spent as a child staying out until 9 pm, playing and riding bikes with the neighborhood kids.

Many people understandably find those little insects annoying, but I always seem to find a bit of comfort and contentment when I can hear them in the evenings.

@cafedaydreams don't they only come out every 17 years?

@soulsings

Only certain species, called 'periodic cicadas' do this. The rest come out every year. :)

@soulsings The smell of fresh apples. My grandmother used to make homemade apple butter and applesauce. It brings back a lot of happier memories.
