What super-touristy thing did you do on a vacation that was surprisingly awesome?
I went on a Catamaran with snorkeling and dancing. It's some time ago though. It was quite funny but at the end of the sail I was totally exhausted 😀

Having dinner in a pavillon of a famous restaurant, with a koto playing for us, all this in the mountains outside Tokyo. It was magical.
@Fradiga a koto sounds like an amazing accompaniment to a meal.

Here is a second reply: Let's be aware that some people just cannot afford trips as vacations, not even in the next city or the country. I have been fortunate but I am aware that not all of us are.
@Fradiga I love the least expensive vacation of all, a staycation where I stay home and maybe do day trips.

Disney Star Wars cruise stopped in St Maarten to see the Yoda Guy museum the guy who designed Yoda has a museum quite lovely …. 💕💕💕💕
On Disney cruises I wear ears and tail (6ft long like a teddy bear it sways when I walk lol 😂 ) Sulley from the movie Monsters Inc … I have a pixie bag filled with snowflake pins for the Frozen fans, Star Wars magnets for your door on the cruise, disney teddy bears tsum Tsums etc 🧸🧸🧸
Every cruise have an area prior to cruise to get to know each other … so the kids knew the ears tail meant I had my pixie bag … I was like pied piper on that cruise …. Lol 😂
My son was not a fan of all the kids around me but I loved it lol 😂 even Donald Duck came over to check it out …

I had a true 'vacation' - vacation, where that was the primary purpose for the first time in quite a while. The most touristy thing I did was beachcombing with some really great finds.
I actually find some of the most fun touristy things are free or fairly cheap, as an example my city has a lot of festivals with a number of free options.

I used to collect shells at the beach and sometimes beautiful rrocks.
@soulsings I live near Washington, DC and sometimes bring my son into the city to explore or for an event.
A few weeks ago he rode his scooter around the Washington Monument and we got him a frozen ice treat nearby. Other people were on those electric scooters and practically everyone had something in hand, be it a camera or souvenir or treat. It was awesome just being American doing touristy things in America.

@WorkingitThrough2 well 3 -4 feet are not big. Oh the other side of the island they are big. 30-40 feet.
