Lately what seems to work best for me is physically getting out of the environment for a little bit. It’s more than just taking a break or going to a different room or in the yard, I have to go somewhere completely different like out in town. It’s like it resets my brain, maybe having some fresh air and sun for a moment, but I think it’s mostly reminding myself that there is still a whole world outside of the situation I’m struggling with.

Thinking further, I usually have to do some activity like grocery shopping, something that focuses my mind. If I just drive somewhere and stop to sit, I will still be in the same thought loop.

@PiecesOfWhoeverIWas

I very much relate to you! Going to town helps me too as there is so much stimulation that my brain has no capacities anymore to focus on worries.

What helps you to think clearly again in a difficult situation?

Deep breathing, focusing on something else, doing another activity and it can be anything, talking about it, journaling those thoughts to get them out of my mind, sleeping, listening to music, these are the most effective ways for me ❤️

Yep! And this set always helps me with whatever difficult situations I’m in. That’s why it’s such a great set of things that I’m greatly appreciative for having as a part of my life not only when I need it but on a regular basis too bc I love this set that much to utilize it on a regular basis ❤️

Change in environment.

Space and time.

Honesty.

Trusting my own instincts.

Processing even the most difficult emotions.

Facing the hard conversations.

Shutting the door on things when it needs to be shut.

Rest.

Alot of tea and chocolate 😁 ♥️

Sounds very helpful!

It's sad but sometimes we need to shut the door on things when it needs to be shut. Good point to mention!

Breaks are a must! Even most machines can't function without a cool down.

Just try not think about it first, start thinking about it, ask my self what can be different about what happened and learn.

What helps you to think clearly again in a difficult situation?

Stop trying to get out of it.

I'm often frantically trying to figure out how to get out of the situation, which leads to racing thoughts. If I can just recognise it, and accept it, the racing thoughts can go and the situation often resolves itself.

Staying calm and accept how things are for the moment sounds helpful!
