What's the criteria a listener has to meet to initiate chats with members?
@AffyAvo Originally 10 chats, 1 positive review. From 2016: December 29: Listener PMing Member Feature!

@RarelyCharlie Thanks!
@RarelyCharlie
Hello, I just wanted to ask, what means when in a general request appears an offline request? What does it mean? Thank you.
@lenore123 Hello
I guess it means it's a request to exchange messages over a longer period of time, when the member and the listener might not both be online, but they send each other messages whenever they can.
This is different from a live chat, when the member and the listener are both online at the same time, and they respond to each other's messages very quickly.
Charlie
Thank you so much @RarelyCharlie!
And is there also this possibility to me? I mean, how can I set that I would like offline chatting, in the general request? Somewhere in the settings?
@lenore123 It used to be an option, I think Noni would ask. The default was an online request. I haven't seen the option for a while, so I'm curious to find out how it occurs now.
@lenore123 I'm sorry, I have no idea how you can request offline chatting in advance. When you chat to a listener, of course, you can discuss whether offline chatting would be OK.

@RarelyCharlie @AffyAvo
Thank you for your responds!
My listener progress path is not moving it stuck at level 137 and showing content removed
@Theeflash You can report problems like this through the Help Center: Submit a request
As far as I know, taking a general request always moves you along the path even when it's not offered as an option.

What is an appropriate way to end chat with a member that is not engaged in conversation?
@MegnaKG In general, when a chat is not going well and you don't know what to do, press the button at the top with a question mark on it to go to the Listener Support Room and ask there.
To address the question you've asked here, I'm not sure what you mean by "not engaged". If you mean not saying much, then maybe that kind of chat is what the member needs. You could ask, "Is this chat OK for you, or would you like it to be different?"
If you mean not saying anything at all, then after five minutes or so you could invite the member to chat another time and end the chat.

Hi!
quick question, can someone tell me how chat hours are accumulated/tracked. Is its the amount of physical hours you spend talking with someone? TIA!
@herecomesthesunnn I'm pretty sure it's calculated in some way, not the actual time spent, but right now I can't find information on how the calculation is done.
I found an old post that claims it's 30 minutes per 30-message chat, but when I look at my hours that's clearly not correct.
The correct answer is probably to be found somewhere in the internship area of the forum.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie Thank you so much!
Can someone please explain to me the whole path to becoming a leader and how to actually be part of various discussions???
@PururevRana For a starting point, see: A Guide to 7 Cups Leadership Roles
How to actually be part of various discussions? I don't understand that part of your question. Which discussions are you thinking of?
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie like normal group conversations that take place on various forums
@PururevRana There tends to be more group chat discussions than forum threads where the term discussions is actually used.
There's a calendar for the group chat ones here https://www.7cups.com/home/communityCalendar.php although things on a daily basis, like sharing circles aren't listed. For those, one needs to go to the correct room at the right time and participate with the topic. Depending on the discussion some are moreso intended for members while listeners support, there are some that are listener only though.
For forum discussions there are some discussions with a clear format, like a thread that posts a new question at timed intervals, others have all the questions posted at the beginning and people can participate when they wish. There is nothing wrong with responding to older forum discussions, but if looking for something a little more interactive, more recent ones or ones that are currently promoted are more likely to get replied. Here's an example this thread - https://www.7cups.com/forum/DepressionSupport_52/Icebreakersandgettingtoknowoneanother_211/3WeeklyIcebreakerswithLexMusic_225652/ is currently promoted for the Depression Support subcommunity. When you look at this page - https://www.7cups.com/home/depression/ it is just below the header.
Hey
I would like to ask if it is possible to leave or unsubscribe from a community after joining it.
@AlternativeAllan Yes, it's kind of hidden. It's on the right hand side, near the bottom, below the Referral LInk. It says Leave this Community.
@AffyAvo
I had given up on finding it, but you are right, it's there in the bottom right. Thanks :D
Hello, I am a newbie, and I have just had my first chat. I have agreed on chatting with the person again. How do I chat with that person again? Do I need to put in a specific request or anything like that? If there are specific sets of instructions to follow, please do tell me. Thank you very much, and any help is very much appreciated.
@PurpleYamYam 7 Cups normally remembers the chat. On the website you can find it in the list on your My Path page, in the 1-on-1 Chat tab, below Noni.
When you have chatted to many people and that list is full, you can find a more complete list of old chats on your My Impact page (found under My Path).
The exception is if one of you blocked the conversation. In that case it does not appear in these lists.

Not a serious question but how do I get a .gif in my profile picture? I thought it is probably extra money but I looked in the benefits of getting premium but it only offers path guides.
@BloodthirstyBat The guidelines say images must be in JPG or PNG format.
But 7 Cups doesn't actually check the format, only the name, so you can cheat by renaming the GIF file, changing .gif to .jpg at the end of the name. Then upload the file in your Settings page. 7 Cups thinks it's a JPG, but web browsers display the GIF.
Charlie
@RarelyCharlie
Thank you for the response. I think they should allow .gif in their guidelines but I wonder how they'll check the .gif for inappropriate pictures.
