Hello, I'm RainbowRodeo and I signed up to become a listener because I want to gain experience in active listening and better communication skills. I also want to exercise my ability to empathize with others. I am planning to work with children in the near future so I want to maintain an open mind about other people's struggles and needs, while understanding my own in the process.

@Heather225 I needed some connections and a way to express my feelings in a constructive way. I moved out of state for the first time in my life and its a big change. So in a way that kinda makes me feel alone and isolated. But hopefully with the help of myself and others, I can find the courage to move forward with my life in a better, happier way. I also struggle with self discipline, motivation, self-esteem, self-worth, patience just to name a few. Where are my people at?

I’m helloWater7280, joining you from Yaoundé, Cameroon.
What brought me to 7 Cups?
I’ve seen how hard life transitions can be - moving countries, career stress, studies... I wanted to train myself to really listen and support people going through tough moments.
What do I hope to find here?
A community to learn active listening skills, share experiences, and grow. I’m also preparing my Master’s in QSE/Risk Management in France, so empathy and communication are key for me.
My goals as a listener:
Get certified, help at least a few people feel less alone, and become better at supporting my future teams when I work as a QSE manager.
Why sign up to listen?
Because sometimes the bravest thing is to ask for help, and the kindest thing is to offer an ear. I want to be that person.

I would say if you are in community rooms for listeners check their profile biography - people don’t always tell you upfront what triggers them (e.g. check who their twinnies are because very likely they will support them first). So please be aware of dynamics.

@Heather225 Hey, Silver Lock here. I started volunteering here as a new listener, initially because it was a class requirement. However, once I began, I realized this work aligns perfectly with my purpose for going to school—to assist those facing mental health challenges. So far, this experience has been both enlightening and rewarding. Although there is a lot going on and there are days when I feel like I don't have a minute for myself, let alone any to spare, I'm thankful I found 7 Cups, from the people I've helped to the training options available.
